CELTIC have stepped up their efforts to sign West Brom midfielder Rekeem Harper whose contract at the Championship side expired yesterday.

The highly-rated 19-year-old has been offered a new deal by incoming boss Slaven Bilic, according to Read West Brom.

But the Hoops hope to lure the Birmingham-born youngster on a lucrative four-year contract to join £7million ex-Toulouse centre-back Chistopher Jullien and £350,000 Republic of Ireland international prospect Luca Connell, signed on a development fee from Bolton, as Neil Lennon’s third acquisition of the summer.

Harper has already had a tour of Celtic Park as guest of the club on Flag Day when a 60,000 sell-out crowd watched the eight-in-a-row champions overcome Hearts 2-1 on May 19.

Liverpool, Spurs and Serie A winners Juventus have also been linked with the teenage box-to-box performer.

Harper looks set to make a decision on his future in the coming days which could bring good news to the Hoops.
