Football reporting tends to follow trends and the Celtic support has been trending since the Barcelona game in November. Juventus have arrived ready to steel themselves against wave after wave of Glasgow sentiment, but Gianluigi Buffon is right, crowds don’t score goals, or win games.
We have a part to play in settling the Celtic players and ensuring they are encouraged when they need it most (i.e. after making a mistake) but Celtic beat Barcelona because Neil Lennon designed a game plan which out-manoeuvred one of the most effective teams in history. On Friday 1 March the Lisbon Lions will be at the Kerrydale Suite providing commentary and answering questions on their magnificent European Cup final win in 1967. This has never happened in 46 years since that game, to say it is a unique opportunity fails to tell the whole story.

Uncertainity in Juve cyberspace re whether it’s Asamoah or Pelluso . The majority fear it will be Pelluso . Pelluso was brought in as cover for the excellent Chiellini . He is nowhere near as good as Chiellini . He looked like a good player at Atalanta but has looked spooked and error prone at Juve . He has spoken of the ” psychological pressures ” of playing for Juve .. He was booked a lot when he played for Atalanta -cynics think it ‘ll happen less , now that he is a Juve player

Finishing work at 4 and then enjoying my night. I will be honest, I thought we were out CL at first qualifier when we only won 2-1 at home.
The vibe from coming out of Celtic is that there is nothing to lose and everything to gain. If we play without fear we are a match for anyone.

Celtic are rank outsiders, behind even Galatasaray in the odds to win at Wembley. We can be backed at anything from 66 to 1 up to 200 to 1, according to the oddschecker site. Juve are 5th favourites in the 9 to1 to 12 to 1 range.
Juve are 2nd favourites to reach the quarters, behind only Barca. The positive from this is that we are better fancied to reach the quarters than are AC Milan.

With the ball wide– either the three have to spread out, or their midfield 5 becomes disfigured when defending deep. The Italian magazines say that Juve are very prone to a fast counter attack.
We have the strength and capacity to win this– not through wishful thinking, the blessing of the Gods ( though that is always a help ), divine providence or sheer luck— but by sheer physical, skilful and footballing resilience, know how and skill.
