Football reporting tends to follow trends and the Celtic support has been trending since the Barcelona game in November. Juventus have arrived ready to steel themselves against wave after wave of Glasgow sentiment, but Gianluigi Buffon is right, crowds don’t score goals, or win games.
We have a part to play in settling the Celtic players and ensuring they are encouraged when they need it most (i.e. after making a mistake) but Celtic beat Barcelona because Neil Lennon designed a game plan which out-manoeuvred one of the most effective teams in history. His players knew their tasks and stuck to plan impeccably.
If Juventus think that all they have to worry about are the fans they will lose tonight to players who have bloodied a few noses already this season. Bizarrely, our secret weapon is not a stadium full of screaming lunatics (no implication or offence meant), it is a group of players who have proven that they can beat anyone.
Celtic have been rocked in the opening minutes of European games in recent seasons. Starting with an edge is important. We also need to be alert to the fact that Barcelona scored two of their three goals against Celtic beyond the 90 minute mark. Games don’t end until the referee decides. The 80-odd minutes between these times will take care of themselves.
And, if you meet Gianluigi on his way into Celtic Park tonight, tell him he’s right about crowds not scoring goals, but Gary Hooper does.
On Friday 1 March the Lisbon Lions will be at the Kerrydale Suite providing commentary and answering questions on their magnificent European Cup final win in 1967. This has never happened in 46 years since that game, to say it is a unique opportunity fails to tell the whole story.
The event is part of our 125 4 125 campaign – central to reinvigorating the charitable spirit which is part of the club we love. It will be a family occasions, tickets are available at £10 for adults and £5 for children. The night has been organised by several fans working in conjunction with the people at Celtic Charity, so please do your best to support this great occasion. Individual tickets or tables are available, details here.

Celtic have played 61 home games in the European Cup / Champions League since 1966, and only lost two of them.

A pre-match meal then off to Celtic Park.
I asked the sister-in-law what we’re having – ‘casserole’ she said.
In hindsight ‘I mind that when we used to call it stew’ may not have been the best reply for me to make.

No he left maybe a year or so back. He’s not a hun. He has a very Irish name (which I wont post here). He follows Falkirk but he’s a Tim at heart.
Right, thats it. Off to fuel the tansport, pick up the bhoy and head to fun city for the evening’s entertainment. Enjoy the game everyone.

Sutton ? [ shudder ]
I had a mate who was doing his shrink thing at a place called – The Henderson – a therapeutic community for psychopaths . He lived on the premises [ 10 days from 14 ]
I travelled from Ladbroke Grove to see him for a night out . We went for a curry and then went for a drink[well tried to] —- It seemed that he was barred from every bar in downtown Sutton — we ended up back at the Henderson with a carry out . Me , him and @ 30 psychopaths —-I didn’t sleep well.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~
TBH,I wasn’t a fan of the town,though domestically it was bliss.
I much preferred Streatham,where I had lived previously,and environs north and south on the A23-ie,Brixton to Croydon buscrawl.
One pub you would have liked-and which I doubt your mate would have been barred from-was The Green Man,my local.
It was so bad,even my Dad rushed his pint,huckled me outside and refused to go back.
I was really looking forward to introducing him to the lads as well,but for all the visits over the years,he NEVER went in there again.
Wuss…….
Bhoys and Ghirls, can I share this with you.
Blessed, Honoured and Humbled.
As some will be aware, I am currently in Jamaica.
I came out Sunday 3rd, and on entering the Great House reception, 4 screens selling the hotel trips.
Ist screen, a cycle ride in the Blue Mountains – guy leading the way of cycle team resplendant in the hoops.
Enjoy the cycle Team Oscar !
Screen 2, a celebratory drink – again guy at front in the hoops – welcome to Jamaica
And Good luck to the 125 Bhoys !
Through the week in lounge, and what comes on the tele, an advert on a plane for the Celtic expat season ticket, followed by football next star for Celtic – yes, spreading the word in Jamaica
Got up Sat 9th at 06.45 for game, with laptop (we are 5hrs behind Celtic Time) down to lounge and game on tele – result, back to bed and watch game with wife.
Sun 10th – and as practisers of our faith, its of to church, Our Lady of Fatima’s – greeted with a welcome hymn.
At end of service Priest invites those celebrating a birthday or anniversary this week up for a blessing on the Altar – so up I go and recieve a personal Blessing – leave church feeling 10ft tall, as I contribute to the collection for education in Jamaica and fund some Jamaican youth for a trip to Brazil and World Youth Day.
Wait that day for the arrival of our 2 Ghirls.
Mon 11th – Feast Day of Our Lady of Lourdes – again feel Blessed as I hit my 50th Birthday.
Ghirls chap the door with cards and a Gift.
Honoured – 1st issued Tie from Lisa Hague Champions League signed tie(signed by Kris Commons) in aid of “Oscar Knox” – incidentally they are sold out – wow.
Ghirls tweet and Facebook my photo with tie, and
Humbled, to get numerous CQNers reply, plus Lisa and our very own Paul 67 – followed by 2 tweets from Oscar himself – wow, keep it up wee mhan.
Now onto today, and just under 5hrs to go.
I have passed my 2 tickets for tonight to my big brother
Very Happy 51st Birthday Kevin – enjoy the night.
(we have put up a message on big screens for him so watch out for this)
You will be Blessed Honoured and Humbled tonight, with the other 60 thousand attending.
For all those not attending – keep the faith & stay strong
Ah resemble that remark about being a black-hack driver! Ah’m wan, an Ammurr inteli inntell intal,…………. no’ daft!!
Erryarr.
~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~
Erm,it was a clumsy attempt at humour-for which I apologise.
Not meant as a slur against cab drivers,more an observation that as a cute blonde,her father was unlikely to be black!
I know that cab drivers are intelligent guys,as they can count to more than I can every time I get into one of their vehicles,and instinctively know which of the local landmarks on my route home I really really really want to see again and again and again.

Anyway…..tonight I imagine Celtic Park will levitate, proving that it takes a wee bit more nous than Moonbeams to make a pitch hover.
I ‘m off for a kip to revitalise mysel for tonight’s classic battle.
Tonight we are all as one.

I live a mere 400 miles from mine,and have never been through anything like you have.
I know how I feel when I go home-all too infrequently-and how I feel when I have to leave.
It quite simply must have been a marvellous feeling to be back.
Hi Ghuys, Salve salve;- For all of you attending tonight, I hope you have the most enjoyable and memorable of nights. I said a few times before, that if we stand united, Team, management, Board and Support, then there is no dream that will lie beyond our ability to achieve. We should remember however that no matter the outcome tonight, this team and its management team have done us all proud.
If the bhoys keep their courage then the rest will fall into place, Come on ye Celts.

I have done a wee cheeky £10 win double on Celtic and Man U.
I fancy Hooper to impress us and his potential buyers with a goal.
Hope the bet comes up but won’t be too disappointed if we keep a clean sheet and get a 0-0 as I think we have got the hang of winning away.
Maybe I would have been wiser putting a £10 double on Hearts and Rangers being in administration this year and fighting it out in Div 3 next season!
