Templar of Doom

1242

I took a nasty Pavlovian reaction today when I heard the radio announce “Derby day” before realising the presenter was talking about the actual Derby.  The last thing anyone planning a night out in Glasgow is the ‘Glasgow derby’, as it was known in its final few years.

As anyone walking the streets of Glasgow and beyond in peace tonight will testify, we don’t want it or miss it.  I prefer my football, like my streets, without this nonsense.

Knights Templar sequestrated?  Blame those “enemies”.  George Peat, Campbell Ogilvie and Lex Gold forced through his appointment as SFA chief executive, despite him not meeting selection criteria.  As every wise footballer knows, know your level.

The magnificent framed Lionel Messi top we are auctioning for 1254125 has less than two days to run, keep an eye on it here.

Copies of Willie Wallace’ autobiography, Heart of a Lion, have been flying off the shelf.  The mail order fulfilment centre will have stock replenished on Monday after running out.  Order your copy below – still time for Father’s Day.

21 years in Linwood, my family are still there, my uncle was a committee man and my mother was a barmaid in the brennies club, went on the supporters bus a good few years. There were bad times, and a lot of real bad bitter experiences from my time in Linwood. The local copper Alec Stevens ran the rangers boys club and if u weren’t on his side there was a good chance u were in trouble!. I think regardless of where u have grown up in the west of Scotland there will be incidents that you would rather forget, and I suppose that’s my point, there are numerous occasions of, shall we say, unsavoury incidents, that I could hold onto and let shape my future, but what’s the point?. I had far more happy times and good rangers friends (and family) at school and at work that helped me out and gave me hand when I was down to let the minority colour my perception of the overall period. Linwood could be a tough place to grow up, and no doubt as a tim u were well out numbered and had to watch your back, but in my experience it has changed for the better, a lot of the guys that would have been sworn enemies 25 years ago are now best pals with my brother and indulge in a lot of “banter” that would have a lot on here lifting the phone for Kofi Annan!.

As I say mate, there were tough times but, for me anyway, things are getting better.

  5. Liverpool will play Celtic in a pre-season

    friendly at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium.

The much rumoured match has yet to be

confirmed by either club but tickets are

    being advertised on Ticketmaster .

The match will take place on August 10th

(3pm) and be the club’s final friendly

before the season starts a week later. The

Reds will face Valerenga in Oslo just three

    days earlier.

The two clubs have a rich history between

them and last met in the UEFA Cup in

2003. Both sides have a huge following in

Ireland and the match is sure to attract a

    lot of interest.

  8. Morning bhoys from a warm hun free mountain valley.

Them two teams who played in the Maracana tonight will only be making up the numbers next year.

    They were crap.

Brasil, jeezo, how far have they regressed.

On our day, Celtic would have beaten either of them.

And thon commentator, dearie me, how many times did he mention 1984 and the JB goal.

  9. The ASA has failed to ask UEFA if they are the same club. They rely on the spoon fed “facts” supplied by Traynor – a man who is on record as saying that the club died on liquidation.

Accordingly the people who made the initial complaint can and should read what follows and should as soon as possible write to ASA asking for a review on the grounds that the question can ONLY be answered by UEFA, not by some obscure organisation who themselves have been hoodwinked into accepting a re-writing of history.

In this way we can get UEFA to comment and to make the position clear once and for all.

    Independent Review process

In certain circumstances, advertisers or complainants can request a review of the ASA Council’s adjudication, including a Council decision not to investigate a complaint after its deliberation.

Both sides have 21 days from the date on the ASA’s letter of notification of the adjudication to ask the Independent Reviewer of ASA Adjudications, Sir Hayden Phillips, to review the case. But they must be able to establish that a substantial flaw of process or adjudication is apparent, or show that additional relevant evidence is available.

If the Independent Reviewer decides not to accept the request (in whole or in part) because he considers that it does not meet either of the two grounds set out above he will inform the person making the request.

If the Reviewer accepts a request, he will inform the other parties to the case that a request for review has been accepted and invite their comments on the submission made by the party requesting the review. At the conclusion of his investigation, he will make a recommendation to the ASA Council which may ask for the Council to reconsider its ruling.

Advertisers, complainants or broadcasters contemplating a request for review should study the relevant terms of reference carefully, ensure that they are signed by the appropriate person and submitted in time and in writing to:

    Independent Reviewer of ASA Adjudications

    7th Floor North

    Artillery House

    11-19 Artillery Row

    London

    SW1P 1RT

    email: indrev@asbof.co.uk

Requests should come only from the complainant, the advertiser or the broadcaster. Those from the advertiser or broadcaster or from a corporate complainant must be signed by the Chairman, Chief Executive or equivalent office holder; requests made only by their solicitor, agency or clearance centre will not be accepted. All dealings with the Independent Reviewer must be in writing.

Full terms of reference of the Independent Review procedure for non-broadcast adjudications are set out in the CAP Code and in the ASA Procedures for Investigating Complaints under the BCAP Code for broadcast adjudications.

The Council’s adjudication on reviewed cases is final. Adjudications that are revised following a review will be republished on our website.

The Independent Reviewer’s report of his activities is included in our Annual Report.

The other promise was that if they sign contracts I could be involved somehow. I hope to hear from them tomorrow or after tomorrow. If new job happens that will be in three weeks.

Don’t kid your self that the bigots will disappear with rangers, the scum that hold these views will try wherever possible to inflict misery and pain, education and inclusiveness is the only thing that will stop it, unfortunately that takes time.

It’s a fair point you make, and certainly don’t have the balls to da as you suggest!. At no point have I said its cured, it’s getting better, from my experience. I don’t dare or try make a defence or excuse for the ongoing sectarian bile on the streets of Glasgow, it’s ridiculous and shocking in this day and age, but I stand by my “getting better” comment. We can only judge things on our own experience. I work in Glasgow, in the motor trade, I have worked in numerous garages from bridge of weir to hamilton, I have met some bitter bitter individuals in my time but as the years go on I find them less and less, maybe it’s me getting older and I’m not as rebellious as I used to be, the wean not having a fever is more important than Celtic wining, canny believe I’ve actually just wrote that!!.

Put it this way, I know a lot more huns that are good guys and I would have a pint with than I did quarter of a century ago, still deluded right enough!!.

  17. Rangers new signings warned by players’ union not to play as trialists in case they pick up an injury

    2 Jun 2013 08:54

CAMMY Bell, Nicky Law, Jon Daly and Nicky Clark expect to get round the Gers’ transfer embargo by playing a few games as trialists before September 1 – but PFA Scotland say that is a risk.

“FIFA also don’t recognise trialists. I don’t know of any other league outside Scotland that allows unregistered individuals to play.

“Pre-contracts are a legal can of worms. If a player signs a contract then it has to be registered within 14 days but how can that be done with a pre-contract?

“Cammy, Jon and the two Nickys have already signed but they can’t be registered within 14 days so how can that be legally binding?”
