I took a nasty Pavlovian reaction today when I heard the radio announce “Derby day” before realising the presenter was talking about the actual Derby. The last thing anyone planning a night out in Glasgow is the ‘Glasgow derby’, as it was known in its final few years.
As anyone walking the streets of Glasgow and beyond in peace tonight will testify, we don’t want it or miss it. I prefer my football, like my streets, without this nonsense.
Knights Templar sequestrated? Blame those “enemies”. George Peat, Campbell Ogilvie and Lex Gold forced through his appointment as SFA chief executive, despite him not meeting selection criteria. As every wise footballer knows, know your level.
The magnificent framed Lionel Messi top we are auctioning for 1254125 has less than two days to run, keep an eye on it here.
Copies of Willie Wallace’ autobiography, Heart of a Lion, have been flying off the shelf. The mail order fulfilment centre will have stock replenished on Monday after running out. Order your copy below – still time for Father’s Day.

I also had very high hopes for Rogne, and sad to see him leave.
Rarely let us down,IMO,but his body did!
Try to keep Sept 27 free, please, there’s a good lad.

Talking of the knights Templar…. I had a meeting with a guy who was looking to develop his business interests in my new country of residence. He proceeded to give me the grip and announced his name in a norn Irish lilt. After the meeting I did some research and it turns out he was a member of one if the unionist parties and actually stood for parliament at one time.
He is on tae plumbs…
I think a good idea for the Scottish Govt would be to introduce a law stating that anyone sitting on any public body, any position of responsibility in sporting life, public life, group funded by European, UK or Scottish Govt money in any way should have to declare membership of any oath bound/ secretive organisations such as the Knights of St Columba, the Ancient Order of Hibernians, The ancient Irish Forresters oh and that minority group which virtually no one in UK/ Scottish/ European public life belongs to The Masonic Lodge.
Could you imagine the list at the SFA?
I really don’t like secretive/ oath bound societies. Any of them. And the ones that have the biggest influence I like least of all.

What is the Knights Templar Story?
——————-
quonno
Gordon Smith was a founder, owner and director of a company called Knights Templar Ltd.
The Knight’s Templars were widely believed to be a precursor of freemasonry. The Knight’s Templar’s were closed down effectively by a 14th Century Pope.
Given the above it seems an absolutely appropriate name for a business owned by the CEO of the SFA.
oh
and as an aside……the business went into liquidation
VP-E/W maybe.

If the tribute act ever do survive and cheat their way to the SPL, I too will never enter any stadium they desicrate with their presence …….
SCOTSPATFAN
I was halfway through reading that before I realised it wisnae a spoof!
Ah well…
So Rogne’s left….good!!
He’s not a terrible defender, and will have a decent career, but he lacks the pace to play at the highest level.
One of Lenny’s best tactical moves (and one that he probably doesn’t enough credit for) is sorting out our defence for European games. For a long time we had defenders (Hooiveld, Rogne, Majstorovic) who had no pace and we got badly exposed in Europe (Utrecht, Braga, Sion).
Wilson and Ambrose aren’t perfect and they sometimes struggle against the Higdon/ Daly’s of this world but they are capable of playing against quick, skilful players in Europe. This is also one of the reasons Mulgrew doesn’t get picked at CB in Europe.
Now time to find a quick, strong defender who is also powerful in the air….shouldn’t be too hard should it:-)
