Test & Trace does not add up if you are Celtic

325

When Stuart Armstrong tested positive while on Scotland duty, Ryan Christie and two others in the squad were forced to isolate, missing important club games.  Christopher Jullien’s diagnosis led to the most extraordinary day in a Test and Trace lab in Scotland, resulting in 13 players forced to remain at home during the decisive stage of the season.

John Fleck’s diagnosis on Scotland duty resulted in no one being told to isolate.

I heard what happened in the lab when Jullien came in positive – the extraordinary focus on interpreting potential exposure.  I have seen photos from inside the plane journeys there and back – the extraordinary distances some forced to isolate were from source.

With media chat full of ‘Fergal Harkin for Celtic director of football’ speculation for months, you (and I) would be forgiven for thinking Man City’s Partnerships and Pathways (don’t ask me) manager was a serious candidate for the job.

Not so, I was assured last night.  And yes, I did let it be known that while getting the cream of the world’s talent to pitch up in sunny Glasgow can be a challenge, staying ahead of the game on persistent stories like this is easier.

Surely nobody thinks we should sign Gallagher ,I watched the English playoff finals and all of the central defenders would be better than him ,

Ah well glad you cleared that up without having to rely on any internet rumours and general chit chat … good to chat …. another day nearer the new dream team and more whinging… happy days

  4. The Netherlands scored two good goals, as did we.

Steve Clarke got a lot out of the players available to him, and that should give us a bit of confidence looking ahead to the Euros. Good use of the Subs, and a professional look about the whole approach to the game. We have two home games in the Euros, win the first one and all to play for.

Then again both Celtic and Scotland used to be very difficult to beat at home. Used to be.

    Encouraging nevertheless.

  5. If any of you like to hear great stories behind 70s-80s music, check out the Rockonteurs podcasts.

Gary Kemp and Guy Pratt chat for around an hour with a musician each week and they are really entertaining.

Among the guests so far have been Stewart Copeland, Mike Rutherford, Gary Numan, Jools Holland, David Coverdale, Brian Johnson, Midge Ure, Bob Geldof, Nick Mason, Jonny Marr, Sharleen Spiteri, Jon Bon Jovi, Alice Cooper, Peter Frampton, Phil Manzanera, Imelda May, John Taylor, Glen Matlock, Trevor Horn and Nile Rodgers.

Some of the stories are brilliant.

Lawwell briefed Chris McLaughlin about how unhappy he was because Rodgers slagged him about signing a player he didn’t want.

    Nothing to with rumour.

The accountant was signing players similar to what a DOF does.

    Do you not remember?

    It wasn’t that long ago.

  7. The Celtic players played well tonight and it was noticeable that they stayed in a shape and knew their role.

McGregor especially was not overrun as the holding player. A lot of that may be down to the slower pace of international football but I tend to think it is more about shape

    Clarke has a clear plan in each game as I’m sure Celtic do at the start of a game. Big difference for me is that ;

1.the full backs were a problem for Celtic the last 2 seasons, disrupting shape

    2. Scotland have centre halves who can head the ball and attack it

    3. Scotland play with a no9 who stays up front and links play. Edouard is brilliant but his wandering and solo runs were very disruptive

    Positives:

Christie, Turnbull, McGregor all looked comfortable vs the dutch – Armstrong linked them very well

Forrest getting fitter and can play wing back when required. Scotland on back foot after he went off

Taylor looked his solid self tonight. His lack of creativity may not be an issue if we get the balance right

Hendry looks a better player but not box office . I’d still keep him based on the last few games(if he wants to). We only have 2 fit CHs at the club and one is only just breaking in

Looking forward to the Euros, will get back to cheering/moaning about Celtic once we have a team/manager/new season

    Hail Hail and mon Scotland

Scotland gave me a break tonight from Celtic and a good performance I would say. Looking forward to a good Euro tournament and setting up the “Celticrollercoaster Euro Fanzone” in the back garden for a few beers, bit of fun and enjoyment over the period. Already taking the first week off to catch all the game with MrsCRC.

Laxalt – we saw a familiar Gordon tonight. Absolutely brilliant reflex save then flapping at crosses and rooted to spot at free kick.

Ha, it was an amazing reflex save. Not sure whether I would blame him at the free kick ( MrsCRC did!), but if we had Craig in goal for a lot of games last season, we might have faired a bit better, unless it was a penalty kick shoot out!

  12. Go tell the Spartim on

If you put all the arguments/counter arguments (bickering) aside and you took this season in isolation, who would you say could be satisfied with their contribution this year, that applies to the whole club, JPT (SLO) would be one…………..

Oh and the person that keeps the diary for birthdays of former Celts

You’d hope that they’ve used these hundred days to do some serious soul searching and look to make amends and take us in a forward fashion….. there is nothing so cruel in this world as the desolation of having nothing to hope for

Might be better for all concerned if we knew which posts for which posters were being deleted.

Certainly some posts from Lambert 14 et al deserve to be deleted, or anyone who expresses hate, or agree with others, as opposed to disagreement with those who have had the responsibility of running Celtic FC within the context of a structure which was absolutely necessary around twenty five years ago, but one which no longer fits the bill. One where supporters provide the major investment year on year in the Club absent from the Board of the PLC. without any recognition of that fact. How about every time you paid for a season ticket, or bought a ticket for a match in the public sale, one £1 of which pro rata gave you a share in the ownership of the club. How about 50-60,000 shares in the club were bought every home match? No?

How about over 1,000,000 shares in the club were allocated to actual supporters, every season?

    No?

  22. The reports that we’re appealing to UEFA over the issue of Ange’s licensing and that the appeal could take several weeks should remove any doubts of our appointment process being a slapstick farce.

If successful, in several weeks Ange could get the green light from UEFA and will then commence a period of 2 weeks isolation before he turns up to lennoxtown.

Are we seriously going to risk Kennedy taking preseason and the reigns for the CL qualifiers? A man of demonstrable multiple failures as a coach and manager as seen during his intermittent time in charge ?

Our fallback option has worked as Mourinho’s assistant but has one job to his name as a manager in his own right. One !

Celtic have made a rip roaring ass of this process despite having months to get it sorted. As usual we’ll approach the qualifiers in a state of unreadiness.

Heads should be rolling down the London road for this nonsense but as we know, Celtic don’t do accountability.
