Tests for agricultural fields of Lanarkshire

750

Efe Ambrose is quite rightly receiving praise for an impressive debut on Tuesday but these are still early days, our comrades from Fife didn’t present a great challenge.  Berman Kayal also put in a sold shift and, for the record, I’ve been more impressed by him than the even more lauded Victor Wanyama, when both have been on top form, but I would not consider either for a start in Moscow.

With five days until we play Spartak it was more important we saw Joe Ledley, if only briefly.  Joe will need 90 minutes on Saturday.  Even if he gets this he might still be short of fitness for the Champions League.  The most important result from Saturday will hopefully be Georgios Samaras coming through 90 minutes without incident.

Along with Scott Brown, Georgios is one of only two players with Champions League experience prior to this season.  He was also absolutely critical in Celtic breezing through the qualifiers.  Fir Park is a tight, agricultural, field compared to the expansive artificial surface of the Luzhniki, but it will be a good proving ground for anyone hoping to impress Neil Lennon with their fitness.

Maybe someone should refer him to this [ from his fellow slur merchant – Sir Irvine Patnick ]

” I would like to put on record how appalled and shocked I was to discover the extent of the deceit and cover up surrounding these events . It is now clear that the information I received from some Police Officers was wholly inaccurate , misleading and plain wrong .

However , I totally accept responsibility for passing such information on without asking further questions ”

  2. Celtic are in talks with five of their top team players over extending their deals to stay with the club.

Neil Lennon has confirmed discussions have been held with Victor Wanyama, Gary Hooper, Thomas Rogne, James Forrest and Adam Matthews over improved terms.

The manager stated talks had been opened with the quintet with a view to rewarding them for their form, and that none of the discussions were as a result of agents pushing for new contracts.

Joe will have been on a very good wage since the day he joined and the other players on that list will be on a fraction of what he’s currently earning.

  5. Rangers have complained to the BBC over its use of a Mad Men montage featuring manager Ally McCoist in its coverage.

The Ibrox club described the opening titles that featured in the broadcaster’s coverage of their League Cup tie against Motherwell as “tasteless”.

On Thursday, Rangers said they had lodged a “formal complaint” against the BBC after being “inundated with emails and phone calls from supporters who are – rightly, in our opinion – furious with the way the programme began.”

The opening titles for the coverage of the match featured manager McCoist falling from an office window at Ibrox and smashing a club crest, in a homage to the opening used by American drama series Mad Men.

In a statement on the club website, Rangers said: “While the manager is known for his good sense of humour, he is both angry and disgusted by the BBC’s treatment both of him personally and of the club.

“As such, Rangers have made contact with the BBC this morning asking why they have chosen to act in such a manner and we await their response.”

This is not the first time issues have arisen between Rangers and the broadcaster in recent times. Last year former owner of the Ibrox club Craig Whyte said he would sue the BBC over a documentary it screened that revealed he had previously been banned as a director for seven years.

His announcement of legal action has not resulted in any court hearings so far, while administrators of oldco, Duff and Phelps, also said they were consulting lawyers over launching legal action against the broadcaster after it screened another documentary, Rangers: The Men Who Sold the Jerseys, earlier this year in which allegations of a conflict of interest surrounding their appointment was aired. However, no legal action has been taken regarding the programme.

In July last year, the BBC apologised to Rangers over an “inappropriate edit” of an interview with McCoist about sectarian issues in Scottish football. The manager had initially banned the broadcaster from Ibrox stadium before the apology was issued.

  6. Bada Bing @ 13:13,

I posted last season (if memory serves) that Jennings on his own, had committed as many fouls against us in one game at the lanarkshire Coo Park, as the ENTIRE murderwell team did a couple weeks later at Ipox v Oldco!

I’ll see if ive got the stats to hand and post, but think i may have deleted it.

Incidentally in the same game against us Im fairly sure Lasley committed only 1 foul less than they as a team did against oldco a couple weeks later!

    HAIL! HAIL!

  7. It doesn’t matter what Joe is earning regards his current contract compared to others. The key point is that after this season he enters his final year of his deal

I would have thought the club would be looking to avoid that scenario by perhaps increasing it by a year or two

When you think of key players within the first XI, Joe Ledley enters your thoughts immediately

  8. More figures on the ‘Falling attendances – a sign of the times’ debate which should put the 41k crowd at the Dundee match into perspective.

How do you know we are not, because its not in the MSM? ;) The point was the significantly improved terms on offer for the others(though the recent debacle with Rogne doesn’t seem to support this!) which does not mean that we are not trying to extend Ledleys contract as well:)

Off Topic, so a bit of an aside.

Slightly interesting given previous talk of the Brotherhood. An extract from a Lodge address given at Morningside a few years ago, concerning “famous” Masons …

“Brother Alistair McCoist, who was initiated into Lodge Thorntree 512 in Thornliebank, Glasgow in 1984, the same year he scored a hat-trick for Rangers in the Scottish League Cup final against Celtic; and let’s not forget Brother Walter Smith (current Rangers FC manager),” said Brother Abbott.

But, before Celtic supporters reading this think that their suspicions have just been confirmed, he highlighted the famous Scottish sporting date of May 25, 1967.

“Six of the Celtic team that won the European Cup that day – and legendary manager Jock Stein – were also Freemasons,” he added.”

    ——

  13. Steinreignedsupreme – What excuse has MacKenzie offered for naming a rape victim – which he did after Hillborough?

    I have no idea. (thumbsup)

Gordon_J backing Neil Lennon – Indeed, we should be able to trust the police. And politicians shouldn’t lie or cheat. The bank manager should be a pillar of the community and teachers shouldn’t run away with their pupils.

    I agree.

So the police should apologise. It isn’t right that they should tell people brazen lies – and in this case, brazen lies clearly intended for publication, otherwise they wouldn’t have been speaking to journalists – and then claim “well, you shouldn’t have relied on what WE said”.

Just as a teacher who runs off with a 15 year old girl shouldn’t expect to evade the consequences of his actions by saying “well, you had no right to expect a teacher NOT to run off with your child”.

It would be different if MacKenzie had run a story based solely on the word of notorious irrepressible fabulists Walter Mitty and Pinocchio. But we are entitled to expect that the police aren’t big fat liars.

Policemen hold a position of trust and authority in our society. They should be held to a higher standard of integrity than the average person. (thumbsup)

BBC Scotland sport deserve everything they get. The amount of coverage they have given to a bunch of Third Division no-marks is beyond disgraceful.

I would imagine Rogne’s is top priority considering he is out of contract next June

  17. ASonOfDan – It’s a pure scandal that the BBC juxtaposed Mad Men and Sevco, so it is.

Mad Men is a lavish production featuring attractive and interesting people with immaculate dress sense who are at the top of their profession. It has won widespread critical acclaim and an audience of millions.

Sevco is a Division Three football club.

  22. I have always been narked by the fact that I pay the same price for Sky Sports (It’s for my da) as people in the home counties to watch 95%+ english football and cricket.

Now we have the BBC, main channels and Alba, paying the Zombies to televise their games, and all from my license fee.

    Narked, I am.

  23. What do we think of this wee story I have just been told.

It appears Auld Chuck had an uncomfortable night as a couple of prominent ex-debenture holders cornered him regarding his ‘we are and always will be the same club’ statement.

Prior to the CVA being rejected the debenture holders at the time argued that they had invested in the club and not the business only to be told that they would be treated like any other creditor.

Chuck’s recent statement’s have p1ssed aff quite a few, who Green would have liked to be seen to buying into his share issue.

” Would you trust a police officer ”

    Mmm ——–

I bore the consequences of some policemen lying – 3 times in my life .—–

First time —– they lied about what I was doing and where I was doing it.

Second time ——- they converted a sober ,polite and reasonable request that they explain why they were kicking the excrement out of a man on Paisley Rd West into an aggressive foul mouth rant in which I questioned their legitimacy , called them fascist pigs and referred to them as female genitalia .

Third time ——- they converted a sober and polite me telling a young woman at a London bus stop to ” calm down or these gentlemen will arrest you too “[ she was hysterically objecting to the fact that London’s finest were manhandling her boyfriend into the bag of a van ] into me being involved in an attempt to help an individual avoid lawful arrest .

In all 3 cases the police concerned lied under oath in court .

    What do you think ?
