CELTIC will face Championship side Partick Thistle at Parkhead in the Betfred League Cup quarter-final.
Neil Lennon’s men were given a second successive tie in the east end of Glasgow, courtesy of former goal hero Chris Sutton, now a BT Sports pundit, who assisted in the live televised draw to choose the home teams.
The Hoops, of course, are looking for their fourth successive win in the competition after beating Aberdeen (3-0), Motherwell (2-0) and the Pittodrie side again (1-0) in the past three years. A triumph would also bring the champions their TENTH trophy triumph on the trot.
It was more of a scramble than a stroll in the 2-1 win over Dunfermline yesterday where they had to rely on a goal six minutes from the end of extra-time by James Forrest to push the side into the last eight. Mikey Johnston had opened the scoring, but saw his effort wiped by Tom Beadling’s equaliser for the gallant Fifers.
Thistle saw off Premiership opposition in Ross County at Firhill yesterday when they clinched a well-earned 3-2 triumph.
