‘THAT’S HIM DONE,’ O’NEILL’S CVANCARA VERDICT

IT LOOKS as though Tomas Cvancara has played his last game for Celtic.

The towering Czech Republic international frontman, who joined on loan from Borussia Monchengladbach in January, hasn’t featured since being replaced by Kelechi Iheanacho in the 63rd minute of the 1-0 Premiership win over St Mirren at Parkhead last month.

Cvancara scored two goals in his 14 appearances for the champions and has struggled to overcome a persistent groin problem which may require surgery.

HIGHLIGHT…Tomas Cvancara celebrates his winning prnalty-kick in Celtic’s Scottish Cup quarter-final success at Ibrox in March.

Martin O’Neill, currently preparing his squad for the must-win encounter against Hibs at Easter Road tomorrow, told the Glasgow Times: “If he needs the operation, that’s him done.

“We’ll know more after tests.”

Cvancara’s most memorable moment during his short stay in Glasgow was his winning penalty in the Hoops’ Scottish Cup quarter-final spot-kick triumph over Danny Rohl’s side at Ibrox in March.

His strikes in regulation game time came with a slick header in a 2-0 league victory over Falkirk in February and a penalty-kick in a 3-1 win over Motherwell, both at Parkhead.

There is an option to buy in his loan contract, but it was unlikely Celtic would have considered making the move permanent for the striker who cost the Bundesliga outfit £8million when he joined from Sparta Prague four years ago.
