RYAN CHRISTIE admitted he was first to congratulate Fraser Forster for his penalty save in the 1-1 Europa League last-32 stalemate with FC Copenhagen in the Danish capital last night.
The Celtic playmaker was the first player with a Scottish club to fall foul of VAR when he was adjudged to have handled the ball which resulted in the Danes being awarded a penalty-kick.
To make matters worse for the Scotland international, making a rare first-team start in 2020 after kicking off the year with a three-game SFA ban, he is now suspended for the return leg at Parkhead on Thursday.
With the scored tied at 1-1 and with only 12 minutes to go, Forster brilliantly saved his fourth penalty-kick of the season as he threw himself athletically to his right to touch Jens Stage’s attempt onto the right-hand post and to safety.

Asked about his reaction the final whistle, Christie told the Sunday Post: “Yeah, I went straight up to Fraser after the game to thank him.
“It is incredible the amount of penalties he has saved.
“Every time someone steps up you have confidence in him to save it and it is pretty strange to have that.
“It did hit my hand, I am honest enough to say that, but there was nothing I could do about it, I was so close and to get the yellow card is a frustrating thing.”
