Yesterday’s win over Motherwell came 29 days after the defeat in Gibraltar but for all intents and purposes there was a lifetime between the performances. Celtic have been transformed in that time. It’s still early days but you can see the week-on-week improvement in Celtic.
We look like a proper team, one which will be difficult to play against and will carry a threat. Although we went home raving about the flowing, attacking, football, Celtic were patient early in the game; it took them 11 minutes to craft a chance. I think this is going to be a feature of our play this season. Getting our systems organised and feeling our way into games before stretching opponents.
Scott Sinclair probably did more last night than on his marquee performance at Tynecastle to show what he will bring to the team. He often played between the forward and midfield lines and always had an eye open for the defence-splitting pass.
It was another solid performance from Moussa Dembele, who looks increasingly comfortable in a Celtic shirt. Goals help, of course. Top performer was Tom Rogic. Twice he scored by perfectly timing a run into the box, the first of which was an exquisite piece of work between Rogic and Callum McGregor.
You will have again noticed Rogic’s fondness for ‘having a pop’. He’d developing that antenna for goal which we like so much in Kris Commons, a good number of Motherwell keeper Craig Samson’s saves came from the Aussie.
In the next round it’s ‘Same old Alloa……..’ This game comes in the midweek between the first and second European group stage games, so a home tie against lower league opponents will probably be a welcome change of pace for Brendan and the players. And us.
The Road to Lisbon
As many of your know, our own Mouldy67 will undertake an enormous effort in May to commemorate the 50th anniversary of something or other. He and others will cycle from Celtic Park to the Estadio Nacional in Lisbon to raise funds for the Celtic Foundation.
They will leave Celtic Park on 6 May 2017 (50 years to the day since we won the league across the city), arriving at Estadio Nacional on 25 May, the 50th anniversary of the Lisbon Lions becoming the first team to break the Spain-Italy-Portugal stranglehold on the European Cup.
This is a stunning project. At the moment, opportunities exist for you to join Mouldy and the others in the cycle, you can also become a project sponsor, or simply donate to the fundraising effort. For more information, visit theroadtolisbon.com

Article 14.1 and Article 16.2.e
C’MON THE CELTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
digesting the rules – what might it be ? that celtic could get find for . does it come under “propoganda”.
Article 14 Racism, other discriminatory conduct and propaganda
1 Any person under the scope of Article 3 who insults the human dignity of a person
or group of persons on whatever grounds, including skin colour, race, religion or
ethnic origin, incurs a suspension lasting at least ten matches or a specified period
of time, or any other appropriate sanction.
2 If one or more of a member association or club’s supporters engage in the
behaviour described in paragraph 1, the member association or club responsible is
punished with a minimum of a partial stadium closure.
3 The following disciplinary measures apply in the event of recidivism:
a. a second offence is punished with one match played behind closed doors and
a fine of € 50,000;
b. any subsequent offence is punished with more than one match behind closed
doors, a stadium closure, the forfeiting of a match, the deduction of points
and/or disqualification from the competition.
4 If the circumstances of the case require it, the competent disciplinary body may
impose additional disciplinary measures on the member association or club
responsible, such as the playing of one or more matches behind closed doors, a
stadium closure, the forfeiting of a match, the deduction of points and/or
disqualification from the competition.
Article 16 Order and security at UEFA competition matches
1 Host clubs and national associations are responsible for order and security both
inside and around the stadium before, during and after matches. They are liable for
incidents of any kind and may be subject to disciplinary measures and directives
unless they can prove that they have not been negligent in any way in the
organisation of the match.
2 However, all associations and clubs are liable for the following inappropriate
behaviour on the part of their supporters and may be subject to disciplinary
measures and directives even if they can prove the absence of any negligence in
relation to the organisation of the match:
a. the invasion or attempted invasion of the field of play;
b. the throwing of objects;
c. the lighting of fireworks or any other objects;

g. causing a disturbance during national anthems;
h. any other lack of order or discipline observed inside or around the stadium.
so it must be –
e. the use of gestures, words, objects or any other means to transmit any message
that is not fit for a sports event, particularly messages that are of a political,
ideological, religious, offensive or provocative nature;

I can’t understand ,how Palestine is getting mentioned on here,shouldn’t be allowed, this is a sports forum,not some Left Wing Soap Box
——————————————————————
Palestine is “getting mentioned” on here because there’s a plan (by some people) to hand out Palestine flags at the game against Israeli side Be’er Sheva who we play soon. There are implications for Celtic (UEFA sanctions). So people are talking about it.
religious, offensive or provocative nature;

wait till they hear the profanity of the Brendan Rodgers song
Early lunch break for me today, so I’m going to watch last nights game again in what can only be described as a vintage Celtic performance.
I had visions of the Lions watching the game nodding their head in approval.
Who is Helen Flanagan?
Dark in this cave.
Helloo?
H?
Related (kinda), who agrees with Celtic fan Daniel Yahia re: Celtic player Nir Bitton?
People who will display Palestinian flags at a UEFA competitions will be creating a negative externality, the cost of which shall be born by the club and fellow supporters. A Pigouvian tax must be levied against such people.
I mean, guys, I really couldn’t put it more simply for you…
SUNNYJIM –
I understand she is the partner of Scott Sinclair. I’ve only googled that name about 67 times so not absolutely sure yet ;-)

Negative externality = the new Amortisation
Pigouvian tax = a tax levied on pig eggs?
See this stuff about Uefa rules and analysis etc & whatever…
Does that mean I can class this as nightschool?
Just that the wife is asking me to hang curtains and such.
Hope our fans don’t cause any talking points next week , other than the usual admiration . We do have fans flying the palestine flag , we now have a team who can take us to the top table . We also have our enemies who will be present at the game and will be scanning the crowd for a stick to beat us with . So please go to the game , create the atmosphere ,and enjoy the football Brendan’s bhoys are producing , keep the politics out of football .

Finally, someone on my wavelength. When will something be done about the piggy eggs?
SUNNYJIM
Sure does. Your certificate will come at Christmas time in the form of a CQN Annual.
As far as Palastine and Israel goes, I’ve visited and traveled the region three times between 1998 and 2010. I doubt I’ll ever go back.
For those advocating their political stance one way or the other, have you ever bothered to visit the place and people you feel such strong emotion for?
Knee jerk reactions and entrenched opinion formed off what the MSM and social media is feeding you don’t count, I assure you.
Take a break from your middle class, 1st world lifestyle and jump on a plane to see for yourself what it’s all about. Perhaps then you’ll think twice about waving ANY flag that could potentially see Celtic fined, or even expelled from European competition.
*subject, of course, to full payment of your course fees and student loan (just in case Tony D is in :D)

Great post!
SFA & Their Rules
Mr. Walker was guilty of breaching disciplinary rule 201, which is described by the SFA as:
“You committed an act of simulation in that you did pretend that you were fouled by a player on the opposing team, namely Kieran Tierney, and did thereafter dive in the penalty box of the opposing team.
“That this act of simulation caused a match official to make an incorrect decision, namely the incorrect awarding of a penalty to Heart of Midlothian FC.”
First we needed refs to make sure that things were fair.
Then we had linesman to help the refs.
Then we had a fourth official to help all three of them.
Then we had a referee supervisor to make sure all four were doing a square job.
Then we had a compliance officer, who used to be called a referee supervisor in black & white days.
Then we had video recordings of matches that fans could rewind and replay for hours to see if all of the above made a dog’s dinner of it.
Then we had Couart of Abritration in Sport have an occasional get together in Lausanne(?) to consider the legalities of screwing up.
Then we had the SFA brainwave of Legal Commissions to rewrite history so that the SFA were vindicated in doing nothing ever at all to help the game in Scotland.
Then we had the video review panel, who…em …well.. reviewed videos/dvds to look at everything that the ref saw, decided upon OR missed altogther, so that they could allocate their own red cards to players (Tonev/Borrigter/Walker) or coaches (Neil Lennon for calling Jim Goodwin a bad word).
Maybe time we did away with the whole lot and went back to jumpers for goal posts in the park and NO refs at all.
Walker, you were lucvky it is still just two games.
BBC couldn’t resist getting a snide comment in against Scott Brown in an article of less than 80 words about the verdict.

Grand. Don’t care what my certificate reads as long as “ology” is on the end of it.
Uefology.
Fifology
Flegology.
Sociology..oh wait not that last one.
Guys respect for the varying opinions, emotions and stances everyone has re the situation and plight of the people in Palestine/Israel.
Sometimes when you read people’s beliefs you realise that those expressing them are being manipulated by other’s agendas.
For example I read on here the other week that the Palestinians had suffered 1000 deaths while the other side 100. It was held up as some justification or reasoning for backing one side over the other.
The fact is it’s actually 1100 deaths.

Mostly about the polis then…?
I have a friend in her 70’s who spends 3 months a year in Palestine helping in schools and hospitals. She has been arrested by the Israeli security forces and detained on several occasions. She also puts up refugees from Palestine, she must be kicking herself that all she had to do was go to a football match and wave a flag instead.

I was thinking last night you must have predicted a loss against Motherwell…coz…you know…we won…

I’d be surprised if any Celtic support agrees with Daniel Y’s views and specific targeting of Nir Bitton. His use of language was anti-semetic and hateful towards a current Celtic player.

I think it’s nice we want to show the Stinian’s were they’re pals,it’s a benevolent gesture that only a bully would want to deny us.

Yeah. Know what you mean. But clearly there are other Celtic supporters who do agree with him (including one who was arrested in Amsterdam). So start being surprised. Bottom line, there are arseholes out there happy to damage Celtic because their politics is more important…

You not came out of the other side of that mid-life crisis yet?
