The best laid Foundations

The Celtic FC Foundation are holding a golf day in April to raise funds for autism in Scotland, the first such day the Foundation have organised.  When planning for the event, Leftybhoy, Brogan Rogan, Harry Brady, Tyneside No.1, me, Thomas and Jane from the Foundation, and Foundation chief exec, Tony Hamilton, wondered if and how we would be able to get winning Ryder Cup player, Stephen Gallacher, to help out.

Over two meetings we discussed strategy on how to get to Stephen, how to hone our pitch, explain the autism work, so that we might be able to get a pin flag signed, or something like that.  Two meetings!

Tony Hamilton was a Firhill last night when a Celtic fan spoke to him:

Celtic fan: “Are you the guy organising the golf day?”

Tony (thinking he’s about to sell a ticket): “Aye”.

Celtic fan: “I’m a golf pro, I might be able to help out with auction stuff.”

Tony (now worried about that ticket sale): “Great.  Which course are you pro at?”

Celtic fan: “No course, I’m on the European tour.  I’ll leave stuff with Stevie.”

Tony (confused what that means and wondering why this guy doesn’t have a regular job in a golf shop): “That’s very kind of you.”

After the game Tony checks his phone and sees a message from Tyneside No.1:

“Ryder Cup winner Stephen Gallacher in stand tonight. Have you rugby tackled him re our Golf Day yet?”

Tony’s been staring at a wall ever since.

Information on the golf day, complete with gratefully received supporting items from Stephen Gallacher, available here.

Any chance we can lay aoff the “he’ll go” “we’ll lose them” chat till at least nearer the window?

As we know well there’s always another player to step up/bring in so why the obsession with never being able to recover if someone left?

*reminds me of my da coming hame fae work and telling me that Bobby Evans had been sold…I started tae greet as he was my favourite player back then….in an effort tae console me he said that we had a young player coming through who would be better than Bobby.

He also told me while watching an earlier EC Cup Final that Celtic would be the 1st British team tae win it as we had a history there in one off tournaments.

Also said after we lost tae the Pars in the replay that big Jock or Sean Fallon would be the next manager.

  2. Alfie noakes,

If Derk Boerrigter is indeed returning to Holland it will free up a treatment table and the number 11 jersey for our new number 16.

Unlikely IMHO ole GMS will struggle to get in the side when Derk is fully fit.

It will be harder still when Tonev’s 64 game suspension is finished…

Are those odds for real? Its are very tempting but i think i’ve given the bookies enough money this week

You mean Aleksandar ( banned for racially abusing Shay Logan ) Tonev?……

  7. McIntyre and Chick Hun on Shortbread, saying evidence against McCulloch is inconclusive,’certainly not stamping, nowhere else to put his foot…..’ assisted now by Dick Wilson……….unbelievable guff

  8. Nothing annoys me more than players like Boeriggter…

Even sh@t players like Ambrose annoy me far less.

Boeriggter is an absolute imposter….. What we paid for him, ranges depending on who’s telling the truth…Lennon said as little as 1.2 million… The players agent and scottish press would have u believe 3million.

Either way, the fee, plus his weekly wages…. The guy is an absolute con.

He has picked up good money, with absolute no intention to play. People will quote injuries, but I’m afraid to say, with guys like Boeriggter, an injury is an easy get out clause. Mentally the guy wants to be absent. He simply has no desire or motivation to play. An imposter !

If two Sevconians keep talking to each other for long enough they’ll convince themselves it was the Raith player’s fault for lying underneath ‘Jig’s’ boot.

I told you on Sunday that is how they would react. I even said that he would be charged just because it is not definitely deliberate, and could be defended.

  13. West End of East End on

I read that Celtic have knocked Aberdeen back for more tickets at our home game after they sold their allocation out in 48 hours, hopefully this is because of a take up by our supporters and not because they knocked us back for more briefs….

Could be the half season books are selling well….

Chick Young and Richard Wilson are hurting huns, when are these people going to accept this is where the monkeys are and will be for a long time….
