The Bhoy Boyata

Home games against St Johnstone, Hearts and Aberdeen after facing Albion Rovers in Airdrie isn’t the most taxing period for a Celtic defender, but it would be churlish not to recognise Dedryck Boyata’s form.

The Belgian central defender has been assured and confident. His pace halted a sprightly Hearts attack and an ability to elevate his considerable bulk into the air produced the only goals against St Johnstone and Aberdeen. Without him our attempt on the world record for consecutive league wins may be over.

Is he the genuine article? Maybe. What we can say for sure is that he’s not the bomb-scare he was the previous two years.

It should be no surprise we missed so many chances last night, we were without four of this season’s top five goal-scorers – surely some kind of record?

Great for those who stepped forward when needed, Dedryck in particular, but I’ll be pleased to Leigh, or Moussa, or Tom, or Stuart back for St Johnstone on Sunday.

  1. Driving in from West Lothian I have been parking in the streets off London Road close to Parkhead Fire Station ( now gone) since we came back from Hampdump.

At the time many of the streets were tenements -mostly empty- and there was little evidence of car ownership by the few residents who still lived there. This made it ideal for parking on match day.

The area is now seeing much needed housing development which will help transform the area ( not just on match days)

The downside of course is that these streets have previously provided parking for hundreds of cars. The cars have to go somewhere they will push further east along London Road and will cause huge problems.

The council proposal to exclude cars 1mile from the stadium is classic inside the box thinking.

I imagine the Council Meeting to look at parking , problem and possible solutions went like this.

    Options

A : fix it with infrastructure eg multi-storey carpark that would also serve Emirates a ?

B : address problem by introducing better transport links?

However it looks like the cheap option is

C paint lines everywhere and move the problem to other streets?

Well done boys take the rest of the week off.

Well I would walk 500 yards

And I would walk 500 more

To be the man who walked a 1,000 yards

and still be a mile from Parkhead’s .

I stand corrected, though I’m sure I heard on the Scottish news that the cost of the inquiry would run into millions.

Their sense of entitlement , however still makes me sick to the pit of my stomach.

Hello again all you young rebels.

Just been watching Celtic tv there and the usual msm numpties

asking Dedrick why is there such a big improvement in his game

and he revealed that after games he had been practising

and running sometime to midnight and 1 o c’lock in the

morning to try and improve and that was why Brendan took

him over to the fans at the end of the Aberdeen game, what a

wonderful attitude considering the amount of criticism he was

getting from all quarters , i for one have a new admiration for

the bhoy and really hope he keeps his place and becomes a

    Celtic legend.

  11. Had the pleasure of being in the company of Tom Boyd after the game last night, what an absolute Gentleman, and brilliant Celtic Ambassador, oh and big Kickinthenakas as well, and of course the lovely Ali

  12. Evening everyone, sat here sitting but not thinking, that’s way too taxing. Just had an excellent fish tea at Equis in Hamilton, truly food of the Gods .

That is of little importance, what is important right now is the sourcing of two tickets for Sunday. Any spares? Thanks in advance. HH

  13. To think back the city’s of Edinburgh and Glasgow, had all the transport infurstucture in place, Railway Stations ,lines Trams, etc ,not one on these councils had the vision,of at least having some of left and maintened,on the assumption, that there will be big changes coming bigger stadiums roads choked with traffic, now to get these things in place would cost Billions, oh to turn back the clock,

“We haven’t got a squad of international players, not at the moment. We haven’t got a squad on international wages, not at the moment. But we have to get to it. Celtic are on a record-breaking run. If they won four games less, they would be 13 ahead. If we had won one of our games it would be ten. That’s how it is. They are on a record-breaking run, going back however many years, so credit to them.”

Well, well, well so magic hat thinks if they were only 10 points behind Celtic then game on. Spurs and Arsenal must surely think that too since they are only 9 behind Chelsea !

  16. What was the attendance last night ?

Celtic need 7 wins from 15 to go fixtures to secure 6 in a row.

“You don’t get five for beating someone [at the top] and two for beating someone else.

“So the fact we are sitting second in the table tells you we are doing some things OK.

“We have to improve, of course we do, but the fact is the team is growing and we are learning”, he added.
