I don’t know what the commercial value of our summer games against Barcelona, Leicester City and Inter Milan are, but those three games are sure to dwarf the earnings we make from domestic media and prize money for the whole of next season.
TV rights for English Premier League football from next season will average just above £7m per game, that’s for each of the 10 games on the weekly card – Sweet Georgia Brown! The actual value of these varies enormously: Watford v Bournemouth has practically no commercial value, all the real value is added by games between big clubs – even the likes of Newcastle, who are a poor team, but one which many colours of football fans still want to watch.
In a different environment, TV rights for Celtic games would be north of that £7m per game figure (the increased exposure would also geometrically improve commercial rights values). Think what we could do with that kind of money…….. more paper towels in the gents, maybe, the possibilities are limitless!
Our position is far from unique, there are a dozen or so European teams of similar size who have been marginalised from what was once a meritocratic game, so change must (always) remain on our agenda. But for now, we have to make what we can from our role as the Celtic Globetrotters.

Margaret McGill – I believe the board are Celtic supporters but they take the emotional out of it and run it as a business. Do I agree with everything they do, of course not as I’m as emotionally attached as the next guy. I would also like to see change at board level as PL being CEO for as long as he’s been there isn’t healthy.

Going to Hampden to play in the semi final of the Scottish Cup, Celtic have to play by the organisers (sfa) rules. When they say we are to play Rangers, Celtic cannot choose to call the opposition by a preferred nom de plume. Thems the rules.
Celtic by stating there semi final tie is V Rangers proves nothing.
More, much more, is said by Celtic’s refusal to willingly refer to them as Rangers on our own site and the total exclusion of the Old Firm from the Celtic lexicon for many years.

I’m in a similar position to Jobo / some others who bought shares through Hargreaves Lansdowne or HBOS to help with the original tabling of the resolution, but didn’t get a mandate from them to use my shares in voting.
I think I saw a reply yesterday that we could fill in this current mandate, though.

Would you come back if there were progress – backed fully by the Celtic plc – on the SFA collusion & corruption (and admittedly that looks unlikely)?
I’ve now heard quite a few good, lifelong Celtic fans saying this sort of thing – not something I ever remember before. Even during the Celts for Change times, etc., there were many harsh words between boycotters and those who continued to go to games (me amongst them), but even then, most people agreed that the differences were about what was the best way forward for Celtic.
This current issue is much more fundamental, and it seems people are turning against the club itself, not just the people who are running it.
Seen comments today criticising posters for not giving credit to PL for arranging the pre-season friendlies, etc.
I don’t think these posters are being petty by not giving credit to PL – it is just that that the apparent collusion with – or at least failure to publicly challenge – the SFA is such a fundamentally important issue to the whole ethos of Celtic, that it dwarfs everything else. If the Celtic plc Board colludes with and endorses corruption through it’s inaction, and is happy to be party to a bent sport in Scotland, they are just asking – what is the point?
