The Celtic Park theatre

350

Slightly annoyed at being moved from the Upper North tonight but after experiences of League Cup games at this time of the season against Partick, Falkirk and Morton, it’s probably no bad thing that atmosphere is concentrated up close and personal to the field.  Celtic Park can be an intimidating theatre, but League Cup nights need some crowd management to make it so.

Remember, it’s a 19:15 kick off, so don’t pitch up midway through the second half!

We’re less than three weeks away from the Great Scottish Run and my Celtic Foundation T-shirt has just arrived.  If you are registered to run and would like to raise £125 for the Foundation’s work towards Health, Equality, Learning and Poverty, email them here and they’ll be in touch.

It’s not too late to register for the event itself, which you can do here.

I know the call goes out often, and I know everyone cannot get involved, but the community of Celtic fans is anchored in a tradition of caring for those in need.  We need to continue to tell this story and ensure the message is not lost.  I have a MyDonate page here, if you can help out.

Many thanks.

    Hey fellas and friends

Been avoiding this site for a few weeks cause of the independence referendum, as things were getting, shall we say, a bit mental.

Anyway, this is my first post back and it might seem odd that I’m using to post a referendum piece, with what I just said … but this is by Jeanette Findlay, and agree or disagree with the basic premise, I think it’s a beauty.

Hope everyone’s been well, and we’re all looking forward to a good game tonight, and, of course, a resounding Celtic win.

“Currently in Nice and looking for a bar that will show the game. I have checked Celticbars.com but no listings for Nice.”

There is an Irish Bar in the old town. It is called Ma Nolans. Was there last year and it showed Liverpool and Elfsbourg (?). Should be ok there as they show many games at a time.

    Enjoy.

    Genuine question.

As someone who thinks that whichever stance one takes on the independence issue should not interfere with their Labour ideals.

Was Labours position formulated from Central Office.

Or was it as a result of surveys of Scottish activists.

    Thanks

  4. I’d be amazed if LG starts. He certainly won’t play thru the middle.

I’d take John Collins words with a pinch of salt

  12. Scotland could still get its independence in the not too distant future.

The Yes side should stay calm, regroup and show a united front.

The SNP are not perfect but they are the driving force for getting our freedom.

I also am toying with the idea of joining the surge of new SNP members.

It might also be a way to change the obnoxious OB bill.

One thing for certain I will never vote Labour again.

  13. I know some do not care about the crowd size but I always want to see at least 40,000 there. Tonight we will be lucky to reach 20,000. I looked at the Seats available Map and behind both goals is almost empty.

  14. I don’t see tonight’s game as a second rate competition. Its a competition I really want Celtic to win and to start with an emphatic win tonight. Winning is a habit, its the Celtic way, lately we have been inconsistent and others no longer fear us. Its time to show everyone that we haven’t gone away, no more piss acting around, lets get the show on the road, TONIGHT.

  15. A lotta people haven’t had a pay rise in a very long time.

Nothing to do with people picking and choosing the games they attend I suppose.

Also, there are people who decide not to go.because there will be a small.crowd. This generates it’s own negative momentum.

  16. sorry cqn, the question is inevitable, I am trying to negotiate tv time with mrs mac, this is not easy given dance moms, location location, escape to somewhere, americas next top model, obese a year to save my wife, bake off etc. etc.

so are we on the telly ?

The exact opposite of that is a pub I used to drink in. If it wasn`t so busy more people would have frequented it!

  18. Our greatest ever manager took the League Cup so seriously that he got us to 15 successive finals and lost 9 of them…….I don’t think the Big Man cared too much for it really.

On the other hand…his first victory in it, Yogis 2 pens v the Orcs, was an even more seminal moment for his greatest ever team than the 3-2 SC Final v Dunfermline,in my honest opinion.

It removed the bogeyman status the Huns had over our players in big games.

The rest as they say is geography.

That’s a new one on me.

“Ahm no goin to the Celtic the night

There’s gonny be a rubbish crowd.”

Have you really heard this used as an excuse not to go??

That’s even worse than the “ahm no gaun cos the Green Brigade urny gaun” brigade.
