The decision is made: Celtic will not win the league

209

If you were comforted by what happened at Livingston yesterday you are a fool.  A 0-3 win for Celtic on a difficult pitch is irrelevant in light of what happened with the scores at 0-0.

Kyogo received the ball inside the Livingston box.  Livi captain, Mikey Devlin, clattered into the Japanese striker’s standing leg, bringing him down.  Referee Don Robertson, who has already met his Celtic penalty allocation (1) this season, did not react.  Stunningly, the Video Assistant Referee did not ask Robertson to check the incident.

It should have been a penalty, but referees don’t see everything.  VAR saw what the rest of us saw, however, and for a team of officials watching the game to decide the incident was not worth troubling the referee about, tells you everything you need to know about how this season will end.

The decision has been made; it’s not coming our way.

Very interesting to read your thoughts on the now deceased Ken Gallacher. He started his career at the Herald as fairly neutral with regards to Celtic.

But his tone later became markedly vindictive towards Celtic in general and to Fergus in particular. He would alternate between sycophantic and slavish articles on Murray as the greatest living thingy and then, for balance, unprovoked libels on McCann as the antichrist.

There was one quite special piece of nastiness when Fergus questioned John Collins’ move to Monaco. His reasoning was that the Bosman ruling should apply only within the EU.

Gallacher went ape shit. He wrote that Fergus had embarrassed Scottish football in the eyes of the world. The unspoken line of argument in was that McCann must be removed and that he was polluting the air fine people like David Murray had to breathe.

    ……………………

I remember that article very well. Gallacher, if I remember correctly, was on holiday at the time and it was written late at night. He was probably drunk. It was absolutely vitriolic towards Fergus. I thought that Fergus put up a good case. Monaco, although they played in the French League we’re not a part of France and not a member of the EU so Fergus believed they were not covered by the Freedom of Contract Bosman rule.

  6. Article in London Times about Everton fans compiling evidence of systemic unconscious bias against their club. Howard Webb reviewing,

In Scotland Ian Maxwell will be confronted with this probably by multiple clubs. The serious problem for him is that there is also help being given to one club in a systemic manner. The organisation is aiding and abetting this corruption with officials such as Beaton, Muir , Dickinson , Dallas showing their colours on a weekly basis.

Maxwell is the head of the snake not puppets like Crawford Allan.

If DD wants to level the playing field he needs to take out Maxwell. Tell his invisible CEO to grow a set.

They were best pals. Both with a fondness for the booze. An absolute pair of Huns.

  9. I’d start with Idah up front – he gets us up the pitch and can help at set pieces. Kyogo on to terrorize them later. This would help the legs of hatate and macgregor, not having to get up and down as much.

Hope Maeda is practicing his crossing this week (I dont know if he’s left footed or right footed ) – I’m guessing right as it would explain his woeful deliver with left foot.

Yang looked good and will come on – with something to prove after recent SFA cheating.

Agree with most on here , the non-pen on Saturday was disgraceful. Not only was it not given – but for VAR not to take the usual 3-5mins to dissect it (like they do with EVERY Celtic incident) needs to be called out by Celtic.

We are officiated differently in this country – its largely accepted – mainly due to our compliance – the whole lot needs cleared out ! With Crawford Allan already going , its open license to cheat!

there are too many dangerous places for fans to go to in europe.

we have been the victims of it plenty of times.

  19. For those demanding that the Club take action regarding Allen, VAR, cheating Refs and the SFA, I don’t think anything will be achieved by ‘taking a stance’ at this time. I do agree, however, with the poster who says that exposed to a large and wide TV audience the Refs – take fright😀 – and the cheating will not be as off the scale as we might fear.

I also have confidence that Brendan has the top class experience of a manager in these pressure situations to see us through. We have most of our best players back. If Callum can play and guide the players through the game as he did earlier in the season then I absolutely believe we will have too much for them and that the Mibs can be removed from the equation.

Just think back for a minute to our first visit to Ibrox this season. We had to play Scales and Lagerbielke who hardly knew each other at centre back. We were in a mess. Brendan gave a very calming interview before the game and when I heard how calm and relaxed he was I started to believe that we could get something from the game. He used his experience to prepare the players for the baying 55000 mob and the assault they would launch at the start of the game. We started with a high line and they launched long balls for their forwards to run onto. After 10 mins he told the back four to drop back 10 yards and their long balls became ineffective with Big Joe gathering or clearing them from the edge of the area and less space for their forwards to run into. Forget about the Refs and trust in our manager and players. Clement has failed against Celtic and Benfica. I bet this is playing on his and their minds.

I totally get that these unparalleled years of recent success for Celtic must have been tough for you. Your hatred for the board at Celtic matches those I read on follow follow who hate the current chairman for the way he managed their demise and has controlled their rising from the embers.

Your negativity before every game is another level. Even yesterday you come out with your usual pre game ‘if we can’t beat Livingston then we don’t deserve to win the league’. Utter crap. I imagine in 07/08 you were saying the same before we lost aro home to Motherwell. If you actually are a Celtic fan I sure you enjoyed booing our team that day with 7 games to go that season too. Yet we went on to win the league from 5 points behind that lot and 8 points behind at one stage. One of the best nights of my life at Tannadice that Thursday night for sure.

I really do hope you are a rangers supporter because the entitlement you have smells like something you would normally associate with that lot.

    well,

i just dont know to be honest.

im wondering how the ref felt.

he obviously feels the same as everyone else about the reason for it.

but does that mean that every ref in the uk in every game they ref that involves a team who had something similar happen has to stop the game?

i think the fans doing it – like what happened at Livi yesterday – is a good thing.

but im not saying the tribute tonite was wrong obviously. if both teams, fans, officials etc are good with it then im good with that as well

  24. !!Bada Bing!! on

B78- Walsh has been kept away from us and the huns recently, to probably avoid any controversy, I think he was picked a few weeks ago for these reasons,VAR could be Collum,Clancy ,who the huns have totally compromised in last couple of seasons, but Brother Aitken could be involved

  25. lets all do the huddle on

but i think something needs to happen about some of these places that are clearly not safe for away fans to go to.

but uefa wont get get involved because they dont care.

  26. Listening to SSB tonight … all the panelist’s agreed Kyogo was a penalty …
