The difficult task of replacing Commons

447

Brendan Rodgers would have looked at Kris Commons age, position and recent injury record and assumed he’s not going to get much from him this season. He’d not be the first Celtic manager to come to that conclusion about Kris.

Kris has created more chances per minutes played than anyone in a Celtic shirt over the last decade, and that includes the golden era of Nakamura, Maloney and McGeady, which brought us into the Champions League knock out stages for the first time.

He didn’t fit Ronny’s system and might not fit Brendan’s, but to win leagues, cups and qualify for Europe, you need someone who can be relied upon to open obstinate defences, and we’ve struggled to find a better tool for this job than Kris Commons.

He’s in the final year of his final Celtic contract, but if he goes, I hope it’s not before 31 August.

Lionsbrand – the sevco fan’s shirt dealer. Apparently no receipts given. Help for heroes copyright infringement. Also, using Nike and Adidas shirts. i wonder if they are legitimate. I wonder if it might be worth the Inland Rev having a look under the stone.

I’d bet a few quid on more nonsense. It’s in their dna

Hello again all you young rebels.

Well, finally got face timing the wee mhan, i was desperate to hear

what he thought of his tour of Celtic park but comp. problems

delayed our communication but when he finally got through i never

got a word in, in a blizzard of words all i could take in was dressing

rooms, green brigade, standing area, Jinky, Henky, Sammy, Broony

and the dugouts so i guess he was impressed and then his dad had

to cough up to get him the new away top which had just been put on

display in the superstore, don’t know how they will carry all the new

tops and T shirts for him and his team mates back to Oz, hope they

don’t have to pay for extra luggage because i think my grandson has

    skint his dad :-))

Thanks to BMCUW, THE BARCA MOLE, COWIEBHOY, and anybody else

who tried to arrange for some of the legends to meet up with him on

the tour, that would have been awesome but i was too late letting you

all know of his visit, as it is he will have great stories to tell his mates

when he gets home, thanks again, the Celtic family eh, i say again,

    wha’s like us.

I thought Janko had an excellent 1st half the other day also. I have yet to see what all the fuss about Allen is though, i know he made the goal for Christie but im still not convinced, hes hardly a novice at 24, but im more than willing to be proved wrong if it benefits us.

Zidane said: “He is a very big signing for Celtic. I like to follow the progress of exciting, young French players and I know Bayern Munich, Monaco and Juventus were looking at him.”He will be playing for a coach in Brendan Rodgers who has played a big part in developing some of the best strikers in Europe.”

  9. The way the pound is dropping will cost us, foreign players will be more expensive, on the other hand our players will become cheaper for foreign teams, an i think we will sell more than we buy so could be a winning situation for us.

I had said Raonic would win wimbledon, but Cilic looks like he is well up for it, as well. Their semi-final (assuming they both win their matches today) might not be one for tennis purists, but for serve enthusiasts, they wont see many better matches.

I know Murray is the guy for most on here, but, if Cilic or Raonic serve well, I think they may take him in the final.

  11. Barney67 –

    Welcome.

My guess is that the name Mats Nilloc has something to do with Tam Collins, if you read it backwards.

  12. mike in toronto on 6th July 2016 2:34 pm

If you spell Cilic backwards you get… Cilic.

  13. Bada Bing –

How refreshing to hear a genuine world class football icon sing the praises of a young Celtic signing without resorting to disparaging comments about the state of Scottish Football and the move being a “step down” or an “easy option” as is the norm from English football names.

  14. In keeping with CQN tradition i have to run, so i will say , Aff oot for now, hail hail.

Hope you’ll be happy on here!

  17. Well done Celtic.

Best player on park so far?

    Big Nirlo.

Certainly answered the question, does he want to be here?

    Looking forward to second half.
