When (not if) the season is called, the dirty little subject will rear its head, Celtic have five postponed home league games on the season ticket. While Celtic are likely to be Last Man Standing after the financial crisis that will engulf the game following on from the health crisis, we are set to lose tens of millions of pounds and will inevitably lose money over this period.
What next season will look like remains uncertain; we don’t know when football will resume behind closed doors, when fans will be able to attend or enough clubs will survive to give us a competition. With so many doubts, we cannot be complacent, which is why players and execs took a pay cut and non-essential staff were furloughed. In short, we need to retain as much income reduce costs where possible.
There is another side of this story. We have over 50,000 season ticket holders, many of whom have been without an income in weeks, some are on reduced wages and, inevitably, some will have no job to return to when furlough ends. As a club, we have to offer a refund for those five games, cash is too important for a family that has none, they cannot put food on the table with a Superstore voucher.
Partick Thistle offered fans a refund and those who needed it, took it, but 96.5% of season ticket holders left the money in their club. By any standards, that is incredible. I suspect the demographics of the Celtic support are different; we have plenty of wealthy fans, but I know many who put a huge portion of their disposable income into following Celtic, almost certainly a higher percentage than Partick.
More Celtic fans will need a refund to get through the month, so it should be offered – as soon as possible after the season is called.

Great story

Even as a 9 year old, I could see Feyenoord were a very good side.
Hoopy Birthday paul. This is a wonderful place at any time but especially just now.Thank you.
RBTH Just loved your post a flood of memories came rushing back.

I enjoyed your post very much. It seems odd that I may have heard your Mum 50 years ago, although I was really in no condition to remember!
Regarding season ticket refunds, I would have issued offers to fans immediately after Sevco published their laughable £25 voucher offer. Our Club invariably remain silent in response to media attacks or Sevco slanted articles. This would have been a very pointed and effective PR response that would have really put their gas in a peep.

Bundesliga is back. Mrs Merkel has given the go-ahead.
mmmmmmmm……
Happy Birthday Paul
I’ve seen some discussion of a virtual season ticket which I think is a great idea, however would the cash be going to Sky given that the rights have already been sold for the UK?
Paul67.
i haven’t been on the blog for a few days and missed when your birthday was.if it was today then many happy returns Paul.
if I’m a couple of days out, then a happy belated birthday Paul.
I haven’t spoke to you for a while, next time we have a wee drinking party please come.
Not looking for a refund ,but if the club could put back first payment for new season book from end of May to end of June,I would be happy .hh

I too agree with today’s article. The Club doesn’t refund STs for individual games not attended (which the swipe card system can monitor) nor allow a platform for resale. The right thing to do would be for the Club to offer supporters the choice to take a refund or put it against ST renewal. Also, when the season eventually restarts, the ST price should be reduced to match the number of games to be played.
PS who the devil came up with the ridiculous £666 price? :-)
We don’t need no Partick Thistle….
Whats the chat with Stuart Robertson, see John James indicating on his password protected headline that he has beeb replaced

Thanks for the memories. My Dad Mum and I travelled with your Mum and Dad to Milan, a couple of years later we also travelled to Budapest for the R.Burton v L.Taylor game :))
I can remeber your Mum coming over the tannoy and my Mum saying that the Italians were so forward thinking in having a Glaswegian as their tannoy operator for the visiting fans and wondered if they had done the same for the Dutch!, My Dad and I just looked at each other and turned away to giggle, the only laugh we had that night I may add, por cierto.
Actually she didn’t say Glaswegian, she said English speaking por cierto.
I see the Government adviser on the Lockdown approach, Prof. Ferguson, has resigned, after his woman friend, Antonia Staats, visited him during lockdown.
One more instance of a scientist massaging his Staats.
Happy Birthday Paul67
Thanks for all your effort, it really IS appreciated.
One small slight bone of contention though. While I appreciate the efforts of the hunger strikers, please tell me, what that has to do with CELTIC FC please.

Hoopy birthday Paul have a great day. I been on here more or less from the start under various names and server changes. Many a time this old ghuy has said, “feck it i’m out of here, these people are crazy always arguing and fighting, lifes too short”. But ah the lure of CQN, pulls me back, great stuff.
So well done amigo i enjoy every minute. One of these days i should get down to CQN corner ( if and when we get back) and introduce myself.
I actually did at one time but didn’t have the bottle to say “haw big man is this CQN corner?, lol. So maybe when we get back.
Cheers Paul

*Thistle and other lower league sides have had their season cancelled we have not so we can’t refund seats for games that could still have been played. Sevco have as usual effed up here and jumped the gun.
I was saying to my son the other day that we are currently conducting an experiment that was impossible/inconceivable during normal times. That experiment is the almost complete elimination of the combustion of fossil fuels and the resultant effect on the planet’s CO2 levels.
It will be interesting to see if this has had any effect, no matter how minimal, on the Ozone layer and the rate at which the planet’s temperature is rising?
I am aware that pollution levels have dropped in such a short period of time, it will be interesting to see if any other beneficial effects have been achieved.
