The evidence is in, you have been cheated

There is so much material to wade through as a result of the excellent BBC documentary, Rangers – The men who sold the jerseys.  Much of it is of only passing interest to us, although we will examine it in more detail in the days to come, one part, however, concerns Celtic and Celtic fans more any anyone else in Scotland.

BBC have evidence that the following players had side letters contracting payment to Employee Benefit Trusts:

Alex Rae, Arthur Numan, Barry Ferguson, Carlos Cuellar, Christian Nerlinger, Craig More, Dado Prso, Dan Eggen, Egil Ostenstad, Fernando Ricksen, Gavin Rae, Gregory Vignal, Jean-Alain Boumsong, Jerome Bonnissel, Julien Rodriguez, Kris Boyd, Lorenzo Amoruso, Kevin Muscat, Libor Sionko, Marvin Andrews, Michael Ball, Mikel Arteta, Michael Mols, Nacho Novo, Paolo Vanoli, Pedro Mendes, Neil McCann, Olivier Bernard, Peter Lovenkrands, Ronald De Boer, Sasa Papac, Ronald Waterreus, Sotirios Kyrgiakos, Stefan Klos, Steven Davis, Steven Thompson, Thomas Buffel and Zurab Khizanishvilli

The BBC list a large number of other Rangers players and non-playing staff who benefited from EBTs but they have no documentary evidence of side letters.

Scottish FA registration procedures are clear:

Rule 2.2.1

Unless lodged in accordance with Procedures Rule 2.13 a Non-Recreational [professional]Contract Player Registration Form will not be valid unless it is accompanied by the contract entered into between the club concerned and the player stating all the terms and conditions in conformity with the Procedures Rule 4.

“Will not be valid” being the key point.

The SFA’s Articles of Association also say:

Furthermore, all payments, whether made by the club or otherwise, which are to be made to a player solely relating to his playing activities must be fully recorded within the relevant written agreement with the player prior to submission to this Association and/or the recognised football body of which his club is in membership.

Article 98 states:

A club making payment of any kind to a player, either amateur or professional, must obtain from the player a written receipt for the same showing details of the payment, and any club under the jurisdiction of the Association must produce such receipts to the Association when called upon to do so. For a player registered by means of a Full Professional Form, a club must produce on request receipts for the wages paid to him in terms of his agreement lodged with the Association.

Documentary evidence exists that Rangers played 38 players with invalid registrations between 2000 and 2010 (the last year financial information is available for Rangers) .  Results from all games involving these players, which is all games Rangers have played since 2000, are void.

I am sure the BBC will forward all evidence to the SFA and SPL for investigation.

You were cheated out of five league championships.  Fortunately, evidence exists and the history books will be rewritten.

The SFA and SPL must immediately take action.  A statement must be made this morning reflecting the gravity of the situation and reassuring fans that our game’s administrators are able to deal with this matter.

12-in-a-row!  Who would have thought it!

Just a quick comment on Juninho. Juninho had an EBT for a short period while he was at Celtic. He had no side letters or contracts from Celtic and tax was paid on money paid into the EBT. ‘Nothing to see here’.

  1. No doubt the main players in this drama will be redoubling their efforts this morning…that is more obfuscation, deflection and denial.

How can these high powered football officials (and all round great guys according to Chic and Spiers etc) continue to administer our game?

The excuse of ‘I was told everything was above board’ or ‘we are still waiting for information’ just doesn’t wash.

  4. I, for one, fail to see why so many people are losing composure and becoming so over-excited by the Daly prog last night. According to some guy called MUFF on Rangers Media who says in a precise synoptic with all his inimitable zetetic succinctness: “It’s a crock of s**t- it’s the BBC init- nuff said.” So there you are. Why did Daly even bother? With one casual lash of his tongue MUFF has defeated all his well researched arguments. MUFF with a vague call to arms has earnestly requested for the hordes to march to Downing Street immediately; asked why, he said he had no idea, but thought it was a good idea. Muff then says: “Is it not time we took this to another level? Would everyone who went to manchester, blockade the Scottish Parliment? I think so! If its being described as a Scottish instatution, lets make them step in and save this massive con on one of theirs and our instatutions!”

Some guy called the Blue Bin Man agreed to join his crazy crew and march with him: “Interinvention, they need to step in and halt the proseedjoerolls, that has to be someone of power, only government probs. Its obviously illeagal, but the problem is its still happening right NOW! It has to be stopped without hurting the club!”

These guys could take over the administration from Duff & Duffer- could they be any worse?

I saw Britney last night stipulate that the hun players have only a two week period where they can negotiate a new deal .

Did he make this up ?

  6. The highlight for me last night was the introductory shot of Andrew Ellis standing outside a building. He stares into the camera and then produces a cheeky smile identical to Frank McAvennie’s on ‘Only an Excuse’.

I have to say though, with Baxendale-Walker, Prince Albert of Monaco, etc I’m starting to think that this whole affair is just one big mental dream.

If it’s so common place we’ll hear about it soon enough. For every Mark Daly there are 20 journalists in Scotland who would kill to get information like that.

    Someone is pulling a chain…

  8. Did anyone notice during last nights programme- I did for the first time- at the part Whyte comes to the main entrance of Ibrox to brief the fans with his roll of bog paper: one of the horde shouts “Yer a feckin’ s***ebag!”

As if he was expecting Whytey come out for a square go!

You know how desperately stupid the huns are. They pride themselves on it

last night they were spoon fed a few facts.

    1) That Sir David Murray never put a penny into Rangers FC

    2) That he withdrew millions from Rangers FC .. he will claim through MIM but it was a Rangers EBT

    3) That he knew how dodgy the sale to Craig Whyte was.

    4) That they cheated (not that they give two ducks about that) for 15 years at least

    5) That all their managers (except cardihun and sally) mmhhhhhhhhhh……. were on the take.

    6) That their clubs main fiscal policy was decided upon by a porno king

    Hail Hail

  11. Morning all

Saw the Daly programme after I got in from work so , as usual, I’m behind on things ( I only stopped wearing flares in 1983)

I thought the weakest part was the second quarter covering the period of the EBTs as it seemed to pretty much jump from 1999 to the return of the Legned in 2007. I doubt this was because of slipshod editing – more BBC lawyers being cautious. ‘Sir’ David Moonbeam will still have friends in very high places.

Aside from Paul Baxendale Walker’s bizarre interlude I found it an increasingly depressing programme. Clever people such as Andrew Ellis, Alisdair Johnston and Minty himself all trying to make themselves stupider and more naive than they obviously are. Shameful.

The revelation regarding Susan Ness was not entirely surprising and leads to suspicion that the extent of the iceberg is not yet known . Perhaps it never will be.

Very disappointed that Prince Albert’s Wikipedia entry has had the mention of his ignorance of Craig Whyte removed.

And what is all this about Juninho? Non story – especially as everything he touched turned our season to ash- I’d have thought. But who’d have thunk one of Scotland’s mist dignified institutions would be a bunch of cheats?

    Er…me!

  12. rangers in administration the gift that keeps on giving…

    Sky Sports

Rangers are looking at Hearts’ Scottish Cup final hero, Ian Black, according to a scout at the Ibrox club.

The midfielder, who was inspirational as Hibernian were defeated at Hampden Park last weekend, is a free agent after it was decided both parties would part company this summer.

And Rangers could look to take advantage if they succeed in having their ban on signing players lifted.

“Black’s an excellent, solid, intelligent player,” Rangers scout John Brown said in the Daily Record.

“He is a player who would enhance our squad and is on the list.”

One interesting part from last night was Peter Stevenson’s recollection of SDM having an alleged “crack” at Joanna Lumley when he was 26. This would be the same time he was already married and had 2 boys…..Dignity indeed….

  14. Does anyone know if Prince Albert of Monaco is renewing his season ticket? Canny see him turning up for Annan & Berwick games…will he go all hardcore & do the bouncy wae the hordes travelling up for the Elgin gig?

Which team Rangers cheated in the final is academic, every team that Rangers cheated on route to the final have an equal claim to the prize. (unlike the league)

When the dust settles all those clubs should be invited to take part in a competition (a competition for each comprimes year) with the winner getting their name on that particular trophy for that year.
