The F word and the C word

641

I see a justification for yesterday’s vote has been issued.  The chairman of one club spoke to several of my contacts in the media with a completely different version, using both the F word and the C word.

Apparently he believes several SPL clubs are being led by the C word – Celtic.  Or to be more precise, “F***ing Celtic”, a name reserved for use by a specific demographic.  All off the record, of course, but incredibly indiscrete, betraying his world view.

If that’s how you feel, man up and say so publicly.  Tell us who you think is really bringing Scottish football to its knees, I am sure everyone will agree this is a time for frankness.

The assets of Sevco 5088 Ltd include a claim, which has been independently reviewed by Leading Counsel who is also a Deputy High Court Judge, to all of the business and assets of RFC 2012 Plc which were purchased by Sevco 5088 Limited or Sevco Scotland Ltd from the administrators of RFC 2012 plc in June of 2012. Sevco Scotland Ltd was subsequently renamed The Rangers Football Club Limited and its share capital was acquired by Rangers International Football Club Plc, the shares of which are now traded on AIM. It is the position of Sevco 5088 Ltd that it is the rightful owner of the business and those assets. After examination of the evidence, Leading Counsel’s advice is that there is a prima facie case to answer.

    green goes on vacation

CHARLES GREEN has escaped all the flak flying around him — by jetting off to his holiday home in France.

In the wake of the claims, a Rangers spokesman said solicitors and “the club’s internal security are submitting a file to police and asking they investigate claims made by Aidan Earley and Craig Whyte”.

Last night Whyte said: “Mr Green has publicly admitted defrauding me on the Sevco deal. I am seeking to put that right by taking legal action.”

Police said: “If any complaint is received in relation to any criminality it will be fully investigated.”

Meanwhile, the SFA are also monitoring the situation.

They are concerned about revelations that previous owner Whyte played a part in Green’s takeover.

The governing body were given a cast-iron assurance last summer, when they issued a licence to the Ibrox club, that Whyte was no longer linked to Rangers.

The real issue being highlighted by the SPL chairmen is that this has been a long process of negotiation and all clubs have had various opportunities to object at any stage. They did not. They agreed in principle and then played their Joker at the last minute. None of the statements issued by the clubs have suggested this was done in support of Sevco. What they stated was that there was some other agenda – which clearly there is otherwise objections would have been raised earlier – and that the press would have to ask St Mirren and Ross County to explain these. The statement from Ross County is reasonable though naive in my view. The statement from St Mirren Does not sufficietly explain their behaviour. The anger of those involved in attempting to progress change is entirely understandable since all that’s happened is that they’ve wasted months of effort and lots of money. Also I thought the incentive payment from Celtic was ongoing and not a one off bribe. This is a genuine redistribution of money which has never been on offer before. A positive step forward in my opinion if the objective is to create a more een distribution. Aberdeen, Hearts, Dundee Utd etc have all been fully involved in progressing this. It’s not being driven purely by Celtic.

  7. On the latest CW news that Sevco5088 has been taken over and there is a prima facie case that CW/ 5088 owns the Rangers/assets.

Remember there was a prima facie case they had played ineligible players where rules were reconstructed so that even when guilty The Rangers won.

However it will be interesting to see a real analysis emerge.

Phil indicating this was the bad news for today Rangerswise.

Occam’s Razor. Neither St M or RC fancied yo yoing up and down the relegation zone where like the 3 baddies in Superman 2 they were likely to be trapped.

That, along with the work put in would explain other clubs anger.

In that case why didn’t they raise this objection earlier in the process? And why wasn’t it made clear in the statements issued? If they had there would be much less suspicion and anger from Aberdeen, Hearts etc. Milne made clear that no logical explanation was offered. That’s why he is angry and suspicious. But he never suggested it was done at the behest of Charles Green…

  13. NatKnow

I never asserted nor would I assert that his is driven purely by Celtic.

It was a compromise deal, agreed by most SPL chairmen, who are all disappointed by the dissent of St. Mirren and Ross County. I can get that they are upset; I just do not get the agenda of the “one off deal”. If the incentive payments were to be ongoing and not a one-off bribe, as I asserted, then why are we making this a one-off deal. Our logic is not wholly consistent. Why did changes have to be in place for next season?? I dunno why.

I limited myself to saying that

    a) No clear Sevco interest or influence has been shown

    b) Fans of SPL clubs, outwith St. M & RC, are not greatly upset by the non-approval of the changes

    c) Our fans are upset by the sniff of Sevco influence and not by the voting down of the changes.

  16. Strange that the Worthington Grp have bought a company which CG (as stated sole director) applied to Companies House to have stricken off in January.

I believe Worthington Grp have been involved with rangers/sevco previously, there’s some discussion regarding this on investment websites claiming Douglas Ware and Craig Whyte have operated businesses from the same registered addresses.

I believe this is CW (again) using a compliant proxy to distance himself from the sevco 5088 legal claim against sevco scotland, wherein his brand is relatively toxic.

  17. Sevco’s shares will be suspended by AIM today. No way they can allow trading on that stock to continue in light of that statement made by Worthington Group.

The Non-Execs at Rangers, if carrying out their duties correctly, should be suspending trading to protect shareholders.

  21. Regarding tickets for the SC final. I’m bemused.

I ticked the box for all home games and games played at neutral venue (inlcuiding Semi Final and Final).

I was automatically sent tickets for all the home cup games (LC and SC) but did not get a Semi Final Ticket for the Scottish Cup. And yet it looked like they could have squeezed in 2 more people with ease

Someone posted above about having been allocated a ticket but having to fill in and return a form.

If thats the case I won’t be at the SC final. Either send me my ticket and take the money out of my bank account as instructed or I’ll be watching on the telly. Not going out of my way to contribute to the SFA.

Typing on a phone about to run out of charge unfortunately so will attempt to pick up discussion later if this is ok? In your reply to EL you say

“I have only read the Aberdeen chairman as being heavily critical. I think Stevie Thompson was more measured and Peter Lawwell’s tone was resigned more than angry.

I can understand that they are frustrated that St. Mirren did not vote as they did but, if they are hinting that it was done for Sevco’s benefit, they are a) going to have to make that charge more clearly, rather than merely hint, and b) They are going to have to explain and convince customers (i.e. us) why these proposals are so necesary and so urgent.”

I didn’t read any hint from Milne or Thomson that led me to infer they were suggesting this was done for Sevcos benefit. They stated clearly that the journos would have to ask St M and RC for their reasons/agenda. There clearly is one

Re: the one-off deal. My reading is that this relates to the offer of changes proposed – not a one-off payment from Celtic. The redistribution of £1m per annum from Celtic would be ongoing. But that number must have been based on the concessions on the table. That number will change if the concessions etc change. That makes sense to me.

I think there is a duty for St M and RC to explain their last minute chnge of heart rather than the SPL chairs to sell what has been in the table for some time. Hence the frustration.

Hopefully pick up with you when I get access to a PC!
