The F word and the C word

641

I see a justification for yesterday’s vote has been issued.  The chairman of one club spoke to several of my contacts in the media with a completely different version, using both the F word and the C word.

Apparently he believes several SPL clubs are being led by the C word – Celtic.  Or to be more precise, “F***ing Celtic”, a name reserved for use by a specific demographic.  All off the record, of course, but incredibly indiscrete, betraying his world view.

If that’s how you feel, man up and say so publicly.  Tell us who you think is really bringing Scottish football to its knees, I am sure everyone will agree this is a time for frankness.

Strange how the Laptop Loyal and the hundits are very happy at yesterday’s decision?

  2. Ntassoolla – the reported trades puts the total volume is shares sold into the market around 3M roughly 85% of the total volume for all trades. Can RFC be shorted and if so will the short being closed show up in the reported trades?

    Mr Gilmour

Would that be the same F*****g Celtic who granted your side the pleasure of a Guard of Honour only recently ??

Roddy Forsyth is frequently wrong. Like all Zombies, he lives in a parallel universe.

Forsyth is nothing more than a hurting Hun – who lost all his shares when his favourite club were liquidated.

  5. Burgas – that’s quite interesting. Is your license the same as that granted to the licensee of a pub it club?

  6. Thou does protest too much…

    St Mirren chairman Stewart Gilmour

claims Celtic’s offer to alter the SPL’s

voting structure was not a serious

    concession of power.

Gilmour was one of just two chairmen,

along with Ross County’s Roy MacGregor,

to vote down plans for league

    reconstruction.

The plan would have seen the SPL and

    three Scottish Football League divisions

    merge into a 12-12-18 set-up.

    Hearts chief executive David Southern

revealed after the Hampden meeting that

Celtic had offered to do away with the

11-1 majority for votes on league

reconstruction in a bid to push a deal

    through.

Southern called the move a ‘significant

    compromise’, while Aberdeen chairman

Stewart Milne called Gilmour ‘selfish’ and

    unable to explain his motives.

But Gilmour rejected the claims, insisting

the offer was a desperate attempt to push

    through the proposals.

He said: “We have been against the 11-1

voting structure for a long time. It was

suggested at the meeting that they would

cherry-pick one piece from the votes

requiring an 11-1 majority and replace it

with a 75 per cent majority.

“But that was only as a means of getting

their proposal passed. That was totally

    unacceptable to St Mirren.”

    And Gilmour also rubbished suggestions

his decision to block the proposal had

anything to do with fast-tracking Rangers

    through the leagues in Scotland.

“It’s ridiculous,” he said. “This is a club

that voted Rangers into Division Three

and voted a director (Ken McGeoch) off

our board because of alleged links to

    Rangers.

“We are also a supporter of a 42-team

solution, not an SPL2, and that would

therefore have no short-cut for Rangers

    back to the top-flight.

“Where somebody would get the idea that

we were doing this to help Rangers is

    beyond me.”

  7. I’m glad the “What is Efe’s best position?” debate is back on. I say he would be best in midfield as opposed to defence. Give him another try Neil!

Despite all the hype surrounding Sevco’s attendances in the fourth-tier (most of it nonsense) the Zombies hate every minute of it. They certainly don’t need to read about where they are.

  19. Efi isnt as strong as vic but may well replace him, vic isnt the best of passers IMHO but has tremendous presence, great in the air and very fit but picks up too many needless bookings mainly for poorly timed tackles, Efi to me may just be ideal, would still love us to get a Lubo type player playing just in front of brown! the boy Rogic is a year way i think!

  24. Evening Bhoys,

Been offline for a couple of weeks due to family illness. Catching up, I note Paul’s article which is hot on the heels of the St Mirren club statement. What a shame that the clubs were unable to come to an agreement yesterday. Perhaps the time has come for the supporters to make their own reconstruction proposal. Here’s mine.

Rather than damage SFL First-Division clubs who stand to suffer as a result of failed reconstruction proposals, perhaps the SPL ought to propose a second SPL division. Since a

wider agreement with the SFL is not possible, perhaps ten or so SFL 1 clubs might be interested. Subject to suitable club accounts, FFP-compliant business plan and stadium safety requirements – we don’t want to risk exposing anybody to, say, asbestos – we could then establish that division. In order to facilitate the desired pyramid, the proposals could include a clause that, subject to negotiation and (say) a two-year moratorium on relegation from (and therefore, promotion to) the new second SPL division, SFL clubs who meet the new stringent criteria will be considered for promotion.

If one or two clubs want to vote against such reasonable proposals, the should be reminded that the original SPL was a breakaway and that they need not participate if that is their choice.

    Hail Hail!
