Social media is a window into society, into families and into the heads of those (including you and me) who engage with it. You and me are OK, obviously, but out there, it’s a minefield. Think, for a second, about the adults who go online to brand themselves by expressing racist abuse at a footballer.
That’s bad enough, but think about one of the sports governing bodies presenting an evidence pack to the police, only for the police to tell them they don’t have the money to do anything with those responsible for such a desperate self-own,
Ahead of the EUros, The Football Association have funded the police to pursue criminals who indulge in racist behaviour online, because society apparently has other priorities. A spokesperson for the FA said, ““We obviously talk to the players about [racist abuse]all the time and now we are doing things differently.
“In the past what we did was put together all the data, effectively an evidence pack, to give to the police to prosecute. But this time we have gone a stage further where we are actually funding a unit within the British police that will then prosecute.”
Four years ago, the Euros concluded with two black English players on the receiving end of racist abuse, the like of which less prominent people of colour endure on a regular basis.
The perpetrators are doing the equivalent of sending The Bat Signal into the clouds, identifying as a absolute one for the watching. This will not be their only misdemeanour, you can be sure.
Football picks up the reputational tab for societies nutcases, because football provides a cover where they can emerge from the shadows, but be sure, this is not a football problem, this is a social and criminal justice problem. The FA deserve credit from all of us who value the game and its reputation.

Yea i get that but setting priority as continued improvement on the park begets the other two targets – the other way round doesn’t.
I’m sorry, I dont understand what that means.
Our priority is to be the best team we can be over an extended period. All parts of the business work towards that, you cant have different parts of the business working to different goals and still be as successful as we are. Good luck doesnt come into it.
You talk about improvement, but you use one season as evidence of the failure of the strategy. IMO you judge a mid term strategy like this over a longer time frame.
Anyway, I wouldn’t be unhappy if our “failed” seasons end up with a double and our fist CL win in years.

Its a freemium software meaning its always trying to get you to upgrade to a paid service
The pop ups are a PITA though
I changed to Avira due to the frequency
Still get pop ups but no where near as many

The strategy was successful this season – Matt O’Riley was our best player by far and the only Celtic player who has looked at home in the champions league for a long time.
We arent buying anyone good enough to be wanted by Atletico Madrid but we had one this season
If you are on MS Windows then I wouldn’t bother with any external AV programmes.
Just make sure the inbuilt AV software called Microsoft Defender is turned on

Its impossible to reason with some on here it really is.
Is it any wonder contributions have fallen of a cliff as its dominated by the black/white gang – not a shade of grey or reason to be seen from some.
For the hard of thinking – if we prioritise recruitment around continued improvement on the park you will (normally) get success (trophies) and improved results out with domestic market. This may mean CL 3rd spot then EL and a knockout win or two for example – just not cannon fodder. This lifts profile of players to perhaps raise selling values, raises profile of the club to potentially attract more and better players/prospects/sponsorships – its almost no lose.
If you prioritise only asset trading (young and cheap) there is more chance these don’t work (this season in the main) and so the rest is up in the air. Potentially lots to lose.

Euros Predictor Competition
We have 42 entrants already for our competition but we are aiming to double that before June 14th. I am suggesting a £20 entry fee but, based on feedback, I have decided to proceed with the same arrangements as we had for our SPFL tournament. We will pay out 50% of the money raised to charity immediately and I would suggest a 50/50 split between a) Sentinel Celts nominated Blood Cancer charity and b) John Fallon’s 12th Lion scheme to raise money for a school in Africa.
The other 50% will be paid to the Top 3 in the competition after the final is played to do with as they please. I will announce the actual prize money once we see what we’ve raised.
Now to pay an entry fee- these are the methods:-
Superbru payments:-
By cash in person to CRC or SFTB if you see them
By bank transfer to
Account name: Walk With Shay
Account number: 15326765
Sort code: 80-22-60
Bank: Bank of Scotland
Ref: Enter your name or blog moniker (so we can identify you and check off that you’ve paid!)
By paypal to walkwithshay@yahoo.com (please send as gift, so prize money pot is not diminished by paypal charges).
Feel free to pass on to friends etc; Those who have played before should be able to enter directly without fuss. New players might need to wait a day or two to get approval from me as the Competition Captain. As soon as you are in, you can start making predictions on the matches. Provided you do not click on the green lock beside your prediction, you can change your prediction several times on the way to kick off (but not afterwards). You can make all your predictions in advance if you are going on holiday or you can make each in the last hour before kick off.
Just join in and have a bit of fun. The money is going to a good cause.
You have to apply – I cannot invite you in- I just get to approve or decline the applicants. Here are your steps:-
1. Open Superbru.com on your device
2. At the top of the page you’ll see a choice from Tournaments, News, Apps etc; – choose Tournaments
3. Click on the Football icon
4. There are 3 headings- Starting soon, Underway & Back Next Time- choose Euros from the Starting Soon option
5. Choose Euros 2024
6. Click the Euros Predictor Game button
7. 3 options in blue ink- Start a Pool, Join Pool, Manage Pools- choose Join a Pool
8. From 6 options- Anyone, Prize, Media, Business, Team Fans & Autopools – choose Media

10. If it asks for a password for this pool- it is- SCQN1888
ISTANBULCELT from the previous page was looking for a Euro comp to join

Its impossible to reason with some on here it really is.
It isn’t. It’s what I’m trying to do, apparently without much success. I’m not sure your responses are more reasonable than mine
Is it any wonder contributions have fallen of a cliff as its dominated by the black/white gang – not a shade of grey or reason to be seen from some.
Describing contributions as having fallen off a cliff is black and white gang stuff. Using it as away of winning an argument is not reasoned, it’s personal and has nothing to do with what we were discussing. You’re also aiming it at the wrong person, I’ve hardly posted on here since the new year, I’m one of the people who doesn’t contribute much anymore. Pretty much because of people using language like this:
“For the hard of thinking – if we prioritise recruitment around continued improvement on the park you will (normally) get success (trophies) and improved results out with domestic market”
I think you’re struggling with a very basic idea – that player trading and concentrating on buying and developing young players is a better way if achieving what we all want. The Board are y sticking with this because they want to make more money, it’s because it’s the way they think we can best achieve success over a long period. Their priorities are the same, they just see things differently to the orthodox. Not that this isn’t orthodox, it’s pretty much the norm in football these days.
I want the same success as you do and I see the logic and merits pretty clearly and I don’t think I’m hard of thinking.
Apologies if posted

Hmm…CCV and Calmac?
Both important players but both struggled a bit with injury and form this season.

Just to add, I don’t think we should look exclusively to sign young development players, but it’s a vital part of an overall strategy.

This may mean CL 3rd spot then EL and a knockout win or two for example – just not cannon fodder.
There is no parachute into the Europa League from next season’s new Champions League format.
I have never been classed as “hard of thinking”, the opposite maybe, too much thinking ,
and never a black and white person, except when it comes to my qualifications, i either passed those degrees (business included) or i did not, but I did.
and in my humble opinion, the celtic plc trading model has proven to work, no debates needed, no need to over explain,
it is witnessed by winning honours every season for the last 12 of 13. while also posting profits, not only by player trading, but also by increasing commercial revenues.
for some reason, this is seen as bad in some quarters because we run with surplus cash, and the big bad bogey man is behind that.
now the cry is buy better, more experienced players, they will make you progress in europe (maybe),
but make sure they are not too old that you cannot sell them on, meanwhile paying them more to attract them to this terrible weather.
oh, and dont get injured.
and manager, make sure everybody buys into your style of football.
meanwhile in the ps , real world, looks likely celtic will make over £1m profit on a korean forward that they tried for a wee while, oh well.
ps, ps, i do know there is no parachute to the el from this season on, a wee bit of context setting is always valuable research.
remind me the battle of the boyne was actually on the 19th july was it not, fought between the lawwelittes who wanted to keep a fortune in the bank for themselves, and the mocontentavittes who wanted it all spent before the transfer window opened.
and dont get me started on the indoor pitch, another albatross around our knecks to push up the mountain.
That awkward moment when you see the Tartan Army
If you take normal european results for the last 13 seasons, celtic in group stages get a win a draw and 4 defeats.
we no longer need to qualify these last 3 years, straight into the groups,
and we will have europeans football after christmas with the 2 extra games.
before a ball is kicked that looks like success already.
meanwhile what about the fonz in the dublin hotel and his comment about the last thing he remembers is drinking with some glasgow guy in the bar

allthough we lived this at the time, celtic were near death, and lost, and dare i say it thems, were a similar size to a newcastle/leeds, bigger than a blackburn for sure, and i lived in fear they would get an invite,
this was changed by 98, but we still lost the chance.
it is a great watch by the way, and so many celtic connections remembered (marc reiper playing for the hammers ).
i have enjoyed it very much.
