On Tuesday we covered the financial benefit Celtic experienced after Brexit due to the fall in the value of the pound against the euro – the currency Champions League payments are denominated in. Today Manchester United revealed a different aspect to the same economic calamity.
Much of Manchester United’s debt is denominated in US dollars. As a consequence of Brexit, the pound also collapsed against the dollar; this alone added an astonishing £88m to the club’s debt figure.
I see Newco fans are busying themselves debating who should replace Warburton as their next manager. Fans do this, it’s a Pavlovian response to unfulfilled expectations. Many feel it’s a right and appropriate discourse, but watching from the outside you can see how destructive it is.
When fans emotionally move on from a manager it is difficult to back his team when it needs it most. Should Morton [Celtic development FC] have the temerity to open the scoring at Ibrox this weekend all of this managerial window-shopping will fuel exactly what the home team don’t need.
There are few things we can learn from that lot, mostly ‘what not to do’ related items like this.
The Road to Lisbon May 2017 Cycle
I am genuinely in awe of the fans who will cycle from Celtic Park to Estadio Nacional, Lisbon, in May to raise money for your Foundation, Solving Kids Cancer and Children in Crossfire. It is an incredible personal undertaking by each of them, which will bring aid and comfort to many in need.
The project is being driven by one of our own, Mouldy67 – who is a role model to us all. This is from his MyDonate page:
My name is Paul Muldoon, I am delighted to be part of a group of 28 Celts, who plan to cycle from Celtic Park to Lisbon. Each of our group will be funding the cost of the professional support company, accommodation, food and travel by themselves.
We aim to raise thousands of pounds to support three charities close to our hearts; The Celtic Foundation, Solving Kids Cancer and Children in crossfire.
The plan is to depart Celtic Park on Thursday May 11, 2017 and will include 13 cycling days, spread over 14 days. We hope to arrive in Lisbon on May 25, 2017.
This project moves a level beyond mere respect, please do what you can to support here.

Shame for TR,he’ll miss the title winning game, but
hey-ho he will make the treble winning cup-final.
Starry,
Your point is well made. The problem with ‘football’ players is that while they are concentrating on playing the ball, others are concentrating on playing them. Another example of that, other than Tom Rog (not that I have a long memory of course. nor do I harbour grudges [aye, right]), was the ‘tackle’ by the Motherwell midfield maestro Lasley on Adam Matthews that put Adam out of the game for months. If my memory is correct the referee Madhun didn’t even give a foul/penalty as the wee rat took Adam out as he tried to play the ball around him in the Murderwell box.
Yep, Scoddish football is on the up and up!
The Rogic story..

What a relief to actually be able to read Celtic contributions from sensible fholk on here without having to be in routine scroll by mode.

EMERALDBEE\O/ STILL PROUD TO BE AN INTERNET BAMPOT
That tackle on Adam was a shocker from a player with a history of doing that but like McCullough this kind of behaviour is slyly encouraged esp. against us.
I don’t remember Lasley ever getting stuck in against the Orcs, not that I’m bitter either:))
Just as Tom was getting the plaudits and playing out of his skin, wallop he’s out of the game for months, just no right that the skilled players are afforded so little protection here.

Hopefully Rogic’s misfortune is Henderson’s chance for a run of games.
Good to know that Jim Traynor has moved on from that kind of nonsense……
From echo’s of dialogue from “The Quiet Man”. There has been talk….oh yes a lot of talk….
When does the fear of having to pay tax this year kick in….where do we adjust? To prevent wasted funds…
Braw.
A real pity about Tom Rogic. He’d been playing really well.
However, the real good news is that we are not short of cover. Armstrong has been great since he came in and we have Kouassi to make his debut. Paddy Roberts could also play in “the hole” as well.
Other capable deputies ( though not as good) are Henderson and McGregor.
Tom will find it difficult to regain a place when he’s back fit!

Can the club not just sponsor the lisbonbikers.???
.. If there is any chance of our hard earned monies going south to a bunch of …insert own word…

Would like to see a midfield trio of Armstrong, Brown and Henderson over the next few games. Bitton and McGregor in reserve if required and Eboue to be introduced once he’s fit the league is won next month.
Pity Tom is out for so long, but he will be like a new signing and raring to go for the CL qualifiers.
What are Inter Milan doing??? Are we in the ciclo continuo ??? There must be some great stories to save…
A hope it is not left in the hands of whoever decides about Hoopy our dog Mascot….cos feck all will happen…
Sad dog face thing…

Folks having read that link to Tom Rogic and his injury it would seem this is a new injury, to the same part of his ankle, which required the surgery, he did it by twisting his ankle at the end of a training session, this does not excuse O’Dea for the shocking assault to cause the initial injury.
TET,
Was tempted to add Martin McGuiness to that list along with a few other choice names.
Guy Fawks, James Stewart II :)
Following in the steps of John James I will no longer put the effort in to post until you all pay my pal.

Absolutely, and our opponents will know he has stamina and ability to last the full 90 minutes if BR requires him to do so.
I expect great things.

——–
Agree with that – although a slight preference for McGregor over Henderson. More of a 4-3-3, whereas Rogic is perfect for a 4-2-3-1.
I think we should be going 4-3-3 in Europe (certainly away), so a good chance to experiment a bit.
O’dae’s tackle on T R was as I said when a saw it, nasty and vicious, just another example of referees not protecting football players, a know it’s all part of the game fouling, but that one was dam right intention to injure an opponent, not unlike that lump of wid Payton who did the very same thing to Biton at the weekend, but was lost on a non penalty given by a referee who we’ve been saying for years is not capable of refereeing any games at high level anywhere,.

i see it gets worse (or better if you are one of them) over at Snake Mountain.
That wonderful scout, McParland, who gave them Garner, Gilks, Crooks, Windass, Barton, Krancjar, Rossiter et al is apparently for the off.
He’s unhappy about the way things are
notprogressing and is leaving the sinking ship.Or is it just the fact that he’s pish at his job and jumping before he’s pushed?

Dont be a spoilspirt, we were enjoying having a good moan at the hammer throwers in Scottish football that disproportionately cause harm to Celtic players. Useful information that contradicts such views are not really welcome.
