The form side of the league up next for Celtic

365

Playing at home against the side who last night finished 35th in the 36 team Conference League table is surely bound to give Celtic some respite from the recent avalanche of defeats.  Aberdeen travelled home from Prague during the night after a 3-0 defeat to Sparta.  A home draw against an Armenian side and a draw in Cyprus was enough to earn them a point more than bottom team Rapid Vienna.

Domestically, however, they are in fine form.  Their last defeat was in October and came on the back of a long flight home from Athens, where they suffered a 6-0 drubbing.  Since then, they have won five and drawn twice in the league, beating Hearts in the process.  Four wins and a draw in their last five games puts them top of the form table, two points better than anyone else over that period.

On Sunday, I expect Aberdeen to redeploy their approach to this year’s Scottish Cup Final, when they sat in and waited on a Celtic mistake.  Practically any result is possible, let’s hope a corner is turned.

The tiny minority, “Celtic Fans Collective” aka Green Brigade, are not representative of the Celtic support!

what is best for celtic ?”

Agreed….but what is best for Celtic ?

Anyone else but Sevco, then a win for that team would be `best`.

In a nutshell: Who is likely to go the distance. Huns or Hearts?

  11. Incidentally, I have always been a fan of the GB but IF they are now booing at HT and FT, then I am much less of a fan ( of the GB).

Humbled to accept the official title of ‘Poster Bhoy’.

I’d like to thank TurkeyBhoy for the honour, and of course, Celtic Mac, whose rigorous Glasgow vernacular taught me that one ‘erects’ only certain esteemed structures… and for everything else, we just ‘put it up.’

    Keep it Up.

  16. As supporters we are very angry due to the poor comments from key employees at our club more so in recent times and the club needs the supporters buying merchandise at crimbo feeling part of our beloved club and not working with the fan groups and fan media the key element of our club which has created disharmony and angst hence the negative vibes which helps.nobody.

  17. With what we have witnessed,is anyone confident of anything tomorrow. What has he left to offer except pulling in B team players. He has exhausted all the permutations available to him.Not all a failure for a time,I will say,but for a time, not enough.

Not all his fault, but he gets the Boos for stupidity.Trying to build a brick wall with no bricks.

He might get lucky tomorrow. Please God.

  19. I don’t want a Sevco win. Would prefer they lose, but would be content with a draw. We must have a far better setup defensively, from tomorrow onwards and start taking our chances. Otherwise, it’s curtains for Nancy and our season. I’d maybe start Shin tomorrow, who looks better at holding the ball than Kenny.

  20. Maolmuire O Muirgheasa on

If we are to have any future, we must first be brutally honest about the present. And that means accepting a fundamental truth. We must remain cognizant that all of the current woes, all of them, are emanating from one particular department at Celtic FC.

Every conversation regarding solutions starts with that understanding.

  21. What must the young Japanese guys Shin and Inamura be thinking right now also.

Tisdale analytical tool has shifted them across the world and destroyed there careers but don’t worry he is sorting out the goal takers that deliver for us in the new year from his sun lounger.

A draw could be a good result, two points shared.

However, I’m thinking what’s best for Celtic is a Hearts win – get thee behind me satan, and one club to chase down

Something we can focus on when we get our act together – MO’N has managed it once this season already.

    That’s interesting to hear.

At recent games I’ve had to stand in queues for food so long that I’ve missed the start of second half. To add insult to injury I watched people pass me carrying 2,3,4 pies, bags of sweets, juice etc. such that by the time I got served everything was sold out!

If only they would rename their campaign Not-A-Pie-More I might have a chance of getting fed.

  25. The Battered Bunnet on

IMO the best outcome is for both to drop points tomorrow. Draws are the scourge of title chasers.

Also to point out that Hearts have beaten us twice so far this season and beat the other lot at Ibrox earlier. Home and away wins over both us and thems in the first half of the season is a fairly significant event.

I’d prefer if we kept significant events to the minimum.

  26. The hand of God on

I undoubtedly want the Diets to win , would hate them to win the league but its slightly more palatable than their full fat cousins winning it.

football is moving on around us and we need to get on it asap.

There’s no way Tony Bloom looked at metrics and bought ‘I’ll give it a go for 6 months and then I can’t be arsed’ players. He is beyond smart and not like anything we have seen before.

I don’t get all the board shit at the moment (I’m a bit of a straight line/spectrummy thinker’). All I got is ‘turn up and support the team’ (I don’t have a season ticket though and I’ve never been abroad to see us, god bless thems woh have).

But I do feel our phenomenally successful model needs looking at. It’s jaded and being bypassed . How I explain it to meself is like pep guardiola – there’s no way he’s turned into a bad manager but ‘what he does very well’ is being overtaken.

    We’re being overtaken

    – Tony Bloom

-we can no longer rely on the hun culture fuggin themselves over cos they’re being run by a competent, progressive, forward looking organisation.

    – After the MONvival, after we survived the biggest cheating campaign in footballing history, football has had a tsunami of money , sports washing, fifa giving that cnut trump an award, thousands dead building world cup stadiums.

I don’t have a single suggestion of how to meet the new challenge but I do not want Hearts to collapse to wake us the fuck up to the post EBT survival!

  30. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

A Hearts win would be my preference.

Across just under half a season they’ve consistently been the least worst team.

Incumbent upon us to get better of course to catch them.

    As for the blue bogeyman?

Never in the history of sport, have two teams (geddit?) been able to create the impression of unstoppable momentum off the back of a run of thin gruel performances and outcomes.

This impression would get a serious shot in the arm if they won their statistically most difficult league fixture – away to the leaders.

    I’d prefer it was stemmed.

Funny thing is,while our club are on the worst downhill trajectory since,I won’t mention an era,all have their own nightmares,we have dunderheads on here, acting as if everything is just super.” The Celtic Shop was doing a roaring trade”,really.”Oh,and the Pie Stall, sold out their pies as well”,” Jings, crivvens, and help ma Boab,ye don’t say”Loving what they think are victories, while the whole thing is collapsing round our heads.

The Kellys and Whites had them, might even be the same mob, clapping them on,as they took us one hour from closure.

Different peril, but a peril never the less facing but for them, nothings wrong. While we worry and fret they go on,no worries.
