Making the great leap between playing Scottish Premiership teams and the likes of Inter Milan will always be a challenge for Celtic. We have done so many times in recent years, Milan were held home and away in the Champions League knock-out stage, Barcelona were beaten, but whenever we have carried the game to opponents of this stature, instead of reverting to our own style of catnenaccio, we’ve lost heavily. Quicker, more skilful, players, could make us look statuesque by comparison.
This is not a criticism. If the only way you can compete with a team with ten times your resources is to defend your 18 yard line, you should do so.
Things could have gone either way on Thursday. We were defensively inept during the opening minutes as Inter found space goal-side of their markers. I don’t know if Ronny had a moment of self-doubt at that point, perhaps he did, but was simply unable to unwind the attacking instincts of his players, but Celtic are all the better for the way they picked themselves off the floor.
I’m sure the odds on Inter progressing will be short, but I’m also sure Ronny Deila will know his players can win in Milan.
I arrived home late last night to read that Tony Conway, son of our own RWE, lost his battle against Motor Neurone Disease/ALS. I met Tony, with dad John and brother Martin, three years ago. Tony was still fit enough to walk, but evidence of the pain the family shared was evident. The three of them travelled back from their US home two years ago, along with mum Pauline, to see Celtic, and meet some family.
They bought hospitality tickets and minutes before kick-off, Celtic’s Iain Jamieson nabbed Tony and asked if he was able to make the halftime draw. Tony knew this would be the last time he would see Celtic, so his journey up the tunnel and onto the park was, to put it mildly, a very special Celtic Park moment.

I generally tune into Clyde particularly on a Saturday to listen to the match reports, I certainly don’t regard myself as moron. When a national broadcaster accuses my club and its fans of being sectarian because we sing the Soldiers song I have every right to be angry, turning the radio off doesn’t eliminate the damage being caused.

The actions of the SFA to have “a Rangers” playing in Scottish football at all costs in he summer of 2012 served to undermine both the Game and the Rangers support.
Charles Green’s Sevco Rangers was waved through without a thought as to whether it ought to be, or whether it was actually wanted. The determination to get it through brooked no alternative, and in fact, no advocates for an alternative were permitted a voice.
Had the supporters of the old club been permitted to start over, the new club would have developed and grown in its own time within its own means, self-respecting and indeed respected.
But “Scottish Football needed a strong Rangers” didn’t it, and no barrier or impediment to a “strong Rangers” was or is brooked. What we have now is the natural conclusion to a grand misconception: An utterly dysfunctional club and a governing body(ies) unable to apply the rules.
Scottish football doesn’t need “a strong Rangers”.
“Rangers” need a strong Scottish Football.
Is it too late to reverse the paradigm? Are we too weak to go back to the first principles of the Game?
In the rush to transplant Sevco Rangers into the Scottish game, we appear to have done little more than create our very own teratoma.
Good Evening Timland.

I rarely listen to Radio Clyde, but I have just heard Hugh Keevins latest diatribe.
On the one hand he talks about Celtic’s ambitions to be a Euro Brand, and in almost the same voice he condemns supporters who sing the National Anthem of a fellow European state.
I wonder how Hugh will react if he ever hears Ronny singing the Norwegian Anthem, Jason singing the Belgian anthem, Adam the Welsh, Nir the Israeli, John & Mikel singing the Swedish, or Anthony when he sings his ?
Completely laughable
Celticrollercoaster
I half jokingly posted o these pages almost four years ago that “Just can’t get enough “ would soon be classed as sectarian.
An Irish Tricolour is sectarian in the eyes of the Hun, all the way to the Procurator Fiscal, what happens after that is generally booted out of court. It doesn’t stop the mayhem and carnage along the way, – but that’s they way they play the game in Scotland.
A boy in a Celtic strip, or Celtic colours, or singing ‘any’ Celtic song is fair game in Sevconia.
It will has gotten worse because Rangers died and their pitiful offspring is clinging to life in it’s Celticrollercoaster

Just been reading through Stan Collymore’s tweets. He really has went to town with Sevco and BT Sport. Ballsy stuff.
It is not Clyde that you should be complaining to. It is the Irish Embassy.
Clyde might feel fine about upsetting a few Tims but an official complaint from a country carries a bit more clout.
Oops sorry copy and paste mayhem if you can make sense of that post.
I used to have the view that we should ignore morons like those who present SSB but they are dangerous in as much as if they successfully tar us all with the same brush then nothing gets done. This view needs to be challenged by our board, they need to let them know right away that we will not accept this smear.
Not listening to this drivel does hit where it hurts them in the pocket but sometimes you cannot ignore this disgusting attempt to hide their own prejudices disguised as one as bad as the other. They are grasping at straws to try and find something to get at us with, it would be funny if it wasn’t so pathetic.

Keevins is a dangerous we relic fae the past ,fanning the flames of whataboutery for a wage

Bada, why?
The Battered Bunnet 17.03
if you do not report it then it never happened.
The list of crimes against Scottish football grows with each passing day and is not reported.
At least 14 journalists got a hard copy of the HMRC letter accusing Rangers of fraud at worst and negligence at best in respect of De Boer and Flo ebts.
Only one replied and then stopped when the fundamental defect that using such ebts then covering up their use from a Commission intended to establish their impact was pointed out to him.
There is clearly a deliberate policy of withholding the truth about the toxicity of RFC from the public at large.
I despair in that I’m not sure anyone cares enough to actually say we have had enough being lied to and misled by those with a responsibility for governing our game.
If it came to a choice of accepting the corruption or supporters turning their backs on the game, then I would not be confident corruption would face a real challenge.
I think those in charge are betting on the numbers falling away not to be sufficient enough to worry about.
soz-probably because we sing it,perfectly reasonable…….
God love dear ole uncle Shug, still living in the shadow of
big bad Gerry McNee.
Lots of protestations on here tonight, careful bhoys n ghirls this could be just the start of your morphing into the dark side
The Battered Bunnet
We now have a situation where BT, next season’s CL broadcaster, is not only condoning the sectarian bigotry of its’ resident team’s supporters (I’m pretty sure it is contractual), ignoring the racist and bigoted abuse of its’ own employee, but compounding all of this by shooting the messenger. Paris and St Pancras have raised questions about Chelsea’s support, while the SPFL recently absolved a mass outpouring of sectarian bile at a Cup semi-final. Let us see where the latest “report” takes us, I’m guessing the dustbin of history will not be too far away. BT, like STV and the BBC before it, is part of the problem.
Bada
Didn’t know that, am I surprised *no*

I have just read phil’s latest. Imo, it’s right in its analysis but he doesn’t address why a Scotland that has in his opinion moved on doesn’t demand action from our Government to take action, if our football authorities won’t. Imo, judged on their past behaviour and, in particular their creation of a totally unnecessary act, our Government won’t act either.
And as for ‘Brendan’ change my name delahunt

Completed via your link.
I expect it will get worse for Celtic fans in Scotland the longer the Zombie lingers on in it’s present state.
Gents,
If you feel so strongly about clyde tonight get the complaints fired in.
No point moaning on here and nothing else

Mr & Mrs Conway my heartfelt condolences to you and all of Tony’s loved ones, may you all take comfort from his love for you.

just dropped an email to FARE
info@farenet.org
and Show Racism the Red Card
info@theredcard.org
to ask them why they are allowing BT Sport to broadcast racist and sectarian chanting without condemnation.
BT Sport won’t allow strong and abusive language submitted in their complaints procedure but are quite happy to broadcast thousands singing it!
Utter hypocrites.
