I was dismissive at the prospect of signing Kelechi Iheanacho (now 29) when the move was mooted in September. The player’s contract was terminated by Sevilla, following an unproductive six-month loan at Middlesborough. Injury has blighted his time since, but when fit, he has shown enough to demonstrate he is clearly the best striker at the club.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (32) was a regular for Besiktas last season, spent until November alone, before training with former club Arsenal. He has won all major English trophies this decade and has a Champions League winners’ medal from 2019, when he was an unused Liverpool sub opposite Victor Wanyama on the Tottenham bench.
Victor was a year older than Alex when the former signed for Dunfermline in 2025. That experiment did not end well, as our former idol was a ghost of his former self.
The spectrum of outcomes between Kelechi’s clear ability and Victor’s ineffectiveness are all possible for a player who has been out of the game for a few months. Martin O’Neill has taken scouting updates from Arsenal and has clearly heard enough to convince him to move. Let’s hope he is well informed.

ah pi$$ I missed a ‘r’
A wee Friday night story to warm your hearts…
I had an older brother….in 1955 he was 8 years old and was Celtic daft…
One morning as my mother took him and my other brother (6 years old) to school, she noticed Jim, the 8 year old, walking differently….one foot appeared to be pointing inwards as he walked….
As the next 4 years rolled on Jim’s condition worsened to where he became a full on crippled and wheelchair bound. To this day we’ve never found out what caused this….
In late 1959 I was the last edition to the family…I was 1 year old…
Jim’s health by this time was deteriorating rapidly…
Our priest (I’ve no idea who it was) talked to Celtic and let them know that this boy did not have long left on this earth, and of course that he was Celtic daft…
Just days before he died the whole Celtic squad drew up to Banton Place in Easterhouse and filed into our house one after the other to say hello (and goodbye) to Jim……I’m told he was absolutely beside himself when he shook hands with every last one of them…he died a few days later….
That’s what Celtic are all about….we’re not just a football club
By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?
(Matthew 7:16)
Ghod bless him, you and the family 31003
31003, excellent story. Sad but positive.
AULDHEID.
Nobody is looking for perfection as well you know. All I would say is that in my eyes you have gone from a reasonable, moral man, to someone who has shown yourself to be an apologist for some of the worst people ever to have disgraced the Celtic name.
So you are now reduced to saying that it’s acceptable to be a board member, no matter how many people have suffered from your behaviour, so long as you understand how the club operates.
I didn’t expect perfection from you but I also didn’t expect such sanctimonious hypocrisy.
So be it.
Best if we don’t communicate any more.

Guessing the MotherCelt will be taking her children to the Cup tie tomorrow, with ticket prices a bit more reasonable @£12 for U13s. Those for the Utrecht game you quoted for younger fans were extortionate, you said so at the time. Dont think the prices are out for the next EL game yet. These are issues worth highlighting, raising, or if your’e lucky discussing with the powers that be. That the Collective and any CSC is denying young supporters the opportunity to go tomorrow is totally ill thought out. One of the reasons I enjoy going via the public sales, is witnessing the sheer joy of supporters young and old who do not get to go week in week out. Not sure if you will find that on the CFC agenda, because if it was, they would not be bhoycotting Celtic FC tomorrow.

Seemingly the Ox is having a nedical tomorrow morning.
– A ‘nedical’ – an examination to determine if the player is a bam or hooligan ?

31003 – thanks for a bittersweet and touching recall of your big br’er. HH

What team did you sy you supported….?
Ah that’s right you didn’t ….
Can read you like a comic book…
It’s just reality Ray
No politico is clean
They are all dirty in one respect or another
If you look hard enough, you can find dirt on them all (most you dont have to look hard)
Lay off auldheid and chill
Hey guys….thanks for responding…for me it’s a happy memory that my brother got to think, I go to see Celtic but today they came to see me…
I think back in the day Celtic were more of a community club than they are today…
I often think of Robert Kelly fining and telling Jock to drop the players who retaliated against the Racing Club thugs…I stood in the jungle with some friends when we were hacked off the park against Atletico Madrid and my pals baying for blood at every tackle…”Why isn’t Davy (Hay) knocking his block off?” they’d say…”Cos we’re Celtic, we don’t do that” I’d say
When other teams players would fall and feign injury I’d hear..”We should do that”…and I’d say “We don’t do that, we’re Celtic “….
I put that down to the strict , disciplinarian way Kelly insisted on….i think he wanted his players to be role models..I think he wanted to lead and influence by example..
I think we still abide by the rules (mostly), and it’s the one thing that remains in our DNA….
Wouldn’t it be great if DD looked back to our history and thought, maybe I should look back to those days and think of the fans the way Kelly did…
Clunks. Thank you for your response and I appreciate your attempts at peacekeeping.
However, there is a huge difference between not being clean and being a war criminal.
We will never come to an understanding or a compromise on this, so best to let it go, since my views on these matters is not going to change.
Nessun Dorma on BBC2 now….
From Milan….where else?
My personal opinion:
A bunch of hun like tossers ….have made Martin O’Neil our under pressure much loved football manager try to appease the hoards… we all know things have not gone right and need sorting but really ….
Ooo wee urny happy let’s have a demonstration… aye good idea , whit else can we dae ..tae make us look iteligunt……..ehh I know..whit about another tiffo… oh aye good idea
Hawd oan a wee minute ave hud a really good idea .. how about …No supporting the team that we …erm support …aye that sounds brilyunt …
brain dead morons …never mind it has a negative impact on the team.
Get a fekin life …

Great story. Thanks for sharing. 🍀🇮🇪🍀
Guessing Rod Stewart will be up next
This guy Bocelli is just the warm up….No?
I remember reading either in a book or an interview, one of the Quality Street Kids say that during training sessions big Jock would have them blast passes to each other….
The idea being learning to trap and control a fast moving ball…they went on to say that Jock reckoned a fast moving ball was harder to intercept than a lazy slow pass…. The particular player (might have been Vic Davidson) went on to say that those that couldn’t trap an control were basically shifted OUT of the team…I wonder how many of our present 1st teamers (and who) would be shifted out if Jock was taking a training session today
Ray
No worries mate
All politico’s should be in the jail for where they have our country, and in the speedy fashion they have brought us
It’s a shit show, and I think it will only get worse
Auldheid is not your target…

*Kind of hard given that I’m 3.5k miles away but if I was still down on the bonnie bonnie banks I have no doubt I would be there, I’ve been in a lot worse situations than this, a hell of a lot but as they say “once a Tim, always a Tim”.
