The instant football changed

326

Had your fill of international football for the year? Good. Let’s get on with business. Delighted Mark McGhee’s back in football, and at Motherwell. I had a soft spot for Mark back in the days, ‘Hammer of the Hearts’, as he was.

By watching Mark McGhee you saw a profound change take place in the game. Until the mid-80s it was possible to get by in the game aligning brute strength with decent levels of skill, as Mark had, or even sublime skill with compulsive inertia, which was enough for Charlie Nicholas to carve out a career for a while.

Almost in an instant the game changed. Mark was praised (and valued) with the most unflattering chant, Nicholas was finished after the debacle of Raith Rovers. Not that he’s bitter.

Best of luck to big Mixu too. I’m long on record saying we don’t need a ‘strong Rangers’ (sic.), but the flip side of this is that we do need teams like Aberdeen and United meeting the grade.

Murray Capital Group posted a £13.6m pre-tax profit. I’ve been writing about this wolf in wolf’s clothing for long enough to know the script with this matter.

I know many CQN’ers have helped Glasgow the Caring City over the years. You should take a look at the work they carried out with Syrian and Afghan refugees in Serbia this month. If you are on Facebook, give them a like here.  It helps the volunteers to know their efforts are appreciated.

Then maybe ask older Celtic fans what they know about Novi Sad, it’s a story worth telling, even 48 years on.

Unless he’s knocking off someone close to Milne,I think he’ll survive. Payoff the player, warn him off the record, look to the big picture.

Aberdeen have spent over twenty years trying to get back to the top. They’ll swallow. They might not like it,but they will.

Celtic are desperately short of strikers and if Griffiths gets injured everybody, will be told ‘to shoot’.

A prolific Man Utd starlet on loan will do for me, and is preferable to outright ‘buying’ of players in the difficult price range we are restricted to.

Pukki, Balde, and Boeriggter brought SFL’s spending to a close. Ciftci is yet unproven and with Scepovic unlikely to feature, this has already put RD under ‘transfer pressure’. If he’s given more money January which is a big ‘if’, it’ll be dependant on whether he is likely to amass trophies and or be around as Celtic manager next summer.

HORNET has yet to reveal its sting. Everyone seems to be shutting the f… up,no-one taking the bait of immunity.

    Yet.

Fella I know in Oxford says that info is drying up on it,but that there are more and more strange visitors in Thames Valley Police.

So his thoughts are that they are tightening the screw on fewer people. Narrowing down the weak spot.

To be honest, this has gone on so long,I am beginning to doubt a good result. But…

They wouldn’t be hammering at it still if they didn’t think they could do it. And the prize is big.

My bhoy just showed me a picture of the women Mciness has meant to be involved with. Absolutely no chance and if it’s true well done.

Just a rumour, the truth of I have no idea, I heard that the reason Chuck left in such a hurry was he was dipping his wick where he maybes shouldn’t have, and someone wasn’t happy about it, hence he left, or was told to pdq.

We’ve all pulled above our expectations in our time. The joy is when you pull a total smasher and take her into the pub.

The ‘WTF!’ from the assembled is worth the admission fee on its own.

As for McInnes,I wish him well in his personal life. And none in his career.

  9. David Murray should be in the dock along side Green & Whyte and all the

other crooks and spivs that have been in charge of the team the BOS payed for

It’s an absolute scandal that he can walk away with a £6million EBT

    In fact it’s totally insulting

Now his rehabilitation as a top Scottish entrepreneur is being peddled by the msm

this charlatan should be exposed for what he is but I wont be holding my breath

  11. BBC Scotland so soooooooooooooo predictable. Last night it was McGhee’s return to Motherwell. What do they show? Them scoring against us while he was their manager before. Tonight, Mixu returns to DU. What do they show? Him scoring against us when playing for them.

  12. BMCUW @ 5:58,

Thanks for the reply, Operation Hornet it was… it’s amazing how many of these banking scandals came out at the time and SMEs and Business folk went to the wall in droves – it was promised the Bankers would be brought to book.

How many have? You can only speculate on why.

    TET @ 5:51,

Puts a different complexion on things, hope the guy is going to right a book. Could be the funniest thing since Hitler, my part in his downfall.

John was a good keeper although not in the brilliant category. Don’t know about his face not fitting with the huns. It’s more likely he answered one of the interview questions wrong……………….’whit school did you go to?’

Do we know what he actually said?

If he did say these words, why is he allowed to?

If he didn’t, why is the DR allowed to report as such?

  18. Every event connected to Scottish football on the bbc has to be shown with either a goal against Celtic or a foul and red card for the man in hoops.

Should we be flattered as the only show in town?

Or does it point to something more sinister?

I’m sure there’s been many a time when a Rangers scout has been gutted to find out that a player without a particularly Timmy sounding name is in fact a tim!

  21. A balding, white haired man walked into a jewellery store this past

Friday evening with a beautiful much younger lady at his side. He

told the jeweller he was looking for a special ring for his girlfriend.

The jeweller looked through his stock and brought out a £5,000 ring.

The man said, ‘No, I’d like to see something more special.’

At that statement, the jeweller went to his special stock and brought

another ring over. ‘Here’s a stunning ring at only £40,000 the jeweller said.

The lady’s eyes sparkled and her whole body trembled with excitement.

The old man seeing this said, ‘We’ll take it.’

The jeweller asked how payment would be made and the man stated,

‘By check. I know you need to make sure my check is good, so I’ll write it now

and you can call the bank Monday to verify the funds; I’ll pick the ring up Monday afternoon.’

On Monday morning, the jeweller angrily phoned the old man and said

‘Sir…There’s no money in that account.

”I know,’ said the old man…’But let me tell you about my weekend.’
