By watching Mark McGhee you saw a profound change take place in the game. Until the mid-80s it was possible to get by in the game aligning brute strength with decent levels of skill, as Mark had, or even sublime skill with compulsive inertia, which was enough for Charlie Nicholas to carve out a career for a while.

I’m hearing off more bad news to come out of sevconia.
Apparently the tribute act have failed to pay players, under contract, during pre season.
This is apparently illegal, and in breach of regulations.
The club/company are to appear before beaks next month.
Unsurprisingly the club/company are protesting the charge.
Livingston were deducted 5 points for failing to pay bonuses, I expect a different outcome will be reached in this case.

Surely one of the main attractions of this place is that we have different views and opinions and we are free to express them. I often disagree with some views but this should be said in the right way and not by insults. I know that it is an old fashioned view but we are all Celtic supporters and at the end of the day we all want the best for our club.
Those who post who are not supporters we should just ignore.
I have followed Celtic for over 50 years and there have always been different views among our support but we always close ranks when anyone threatens or ridicules the team. Stay strong in your support and cut each other a bit of slack.
You know I envy the younger element of our support in that they have a lot of years to look forward to, I only hope they have as much pride, joy and pleasure as I have had being part of this wonderful Celtic family over the years.

There used to be some half decent posters fae Rutherglen oan here…….;) I think there is a malaise over the team and the club at this moment in our history., although some might disagree, with some insults these days.If the team had better players,bigger characters, playing entertaining football, holding our own in the Champions League ? I think overall interest is on the wane, for some of the reasons I gave.Maybe a different point of view, re lack of posts these days.We live in hope that things will change.

My own opinion, and I won’t have time to back it up tonight, is that guys like you and TonyD are ruining CQN.
I’ll argue with anyone, as I have done on here many times. However, I also think I’m adaptable when I think others make a relevant point.
TonyD is a board sycophant and has openly said that he won’t criticise PL and those in charge at Celtic. He also makes frequent sly digs against those of us who are actively involved in issues which concern Celtic and the Celtic support.
You on the other hand are equally obstinate and rarely do you mention anything positive about our club.
In my humble opinion you’re both suffocating genuine debate and meaningful dialogue.
Until it changes cqn will continue to wither and posts decrease.

I think the term HT is “polarisation” and it comes from willfull ignorance.
I’ve attended CST meetings, I’ve attended SLO forums. I’ve made a point of trying to understand the various issues and agendas at play.
I’ve respected and indeed admired the passion with which folk pursue their agendas, even if I do not agree with them or more accurately how they have gone about pursuing them.
I’ve despaired at the lack of acceptance that some problems are not within the clubs power to resolve, correction I’ve despaired at the inability to recognise that Celtic don’t have a magic bullet and that PL is neither in a position to fix everything or is the cause of everything that needs fixed.
In short there are no easy answers, only hard work in establishing the actual problems and even more hard work at finding solutions.
Whilst we argue the issues at the polarised edges, as exemplified by Neganon2, KevJ and TD, the real work is being done off blog by folk like yourself and the CST and the CSA and Res12elvers, even if that work does not match the preconceived ignorant (in the sense of not being aware of) notions of their critics, which over time becomes tiresome to keep refuting.
So we stop refuting, but carry on working.

The Sevco doomsayers often mention the dilapidated state of the Govan Superbowl. As I have not had cause to visit for some time :-) to witness it with my own eyes, can anybody put any flesh on the bones :-) of these stories? Is the stadium in imminent danger of collapse? ……. Needing three seats replaced?……… Or somewhere in between? Does anybody have any reliable information on this?
I am beginning to weary somewhat of the reports of “well placed sources”. Anyone got the real SP?

I wouldn’t take it personally mate – it happens to us all at times. I’d suggest that those who post regularly strike up a rapport with some posters and that they tend to respond to each other’s posts. I personally have directly replied to 2 posters over opinions they’ve posted and not received a reply. Perhaps they just missed it – or perhaps they didn’t want to engage with my argument. No matter. Still happy to respond to them in future because I am aware that even if they don;t respond, others will read the post I make.
