The Juninho EBT

1126

I see several “fans’ groups” are engaged on the subject of our old friend, Juninho, who played around 13 games for Celtic eight years ago and benefited from an Employee Benefit Trust before and during his time at the club.

Can you believe this is where their focus is?

As Sir David Murray and a gaggle of his former directors will tell you, there is nothing illegal in EBTs, it’s the undeclared second contracts the football authorities have a problem with. Juninho’s EBT was not subject to any contract or side letter whatsoever. Moreover, our then chairman, Brian Quinn, regarded EBTs with suspicion and instructed the club to declare Juninho’s to the Revenue. Celtic even paid tax on money paid to the EBT.

The SFA and SPL, and every journalist in Scotland interested in getting a story right, are fully aware of the facts.

I suppose running with this beats looking at links between Green and Whyte. Keep up the good work, guys!

And for the record, stripping titles is not the ultimate sanction, not by the length of Argyle St.

The newco’, formerly Sevco Scotland Ltd, has been changed to The Rangers Football Club Ltd, while the oldco, incorporated in 1899, has had its name changed to RFC 2012 Ltd.

Anyone explain how this works ? , taken from STV website .

AN advertising watchdog has ruled that Hearts misled their own fans with a controversial sales drive that claimed to offer cut-price tickets.

The marketing campaign, which urged supporters to buy early for cheaper briefs, was deemed to have breached ad regulations following a four-month investigation by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA).

It is understood the watchdog received five complaints about the club’s “dynamic pricing system” that promised “the lowest season ticket starting price for four years” but left fans furious when prices rose sharply just hours after going live.

Hearts later apologised for the campaign, broadcast on radio and via direct mail, expressing “regret for problems that arose”.

The ASA has ruled that at the time of the radio advert, none of the lowest priced tickets was available. It also found the direct mail advert was misleading over the availability of tickets at the advertised starting prices. It ruled the direct mail advert failed to make clear that a donation to the Hearts’ Education and Community Trust and an administration fee applied to bookings.

The ASA said its aim was to “help ensure compliance with the advertising codes, rather than punish advertisers” but can impose sanctions on those failing to comply.

One supporter, who complained to regulators over the advertising but wished to remain anonymous, said: “It was never my intention to tarnish the club’s name in any way but this whole system was deeply unfair and was promoted in a misleading way.

“I’m pleased the complaints have been upheld but I just want to forget about it now and support my team in the coming season.”

In March, the News told how a record-breaking day of sales at Tynecastle had been marred by complaints from fans over the pricing system that saw scores take advantage of a bargain offer on season tickets only to find they were paying up to ÂŁ70 more than was advertised.

Hundreds took to online fans forums to vent their anger, with many vowing to give up their season book, but at the time a club source said fans had been given correct information over ticketing.

Hearts then held a summit with fans’ groups insisting they had not set out to “cause the problems” and vowed to make the season-ticket purchases “much more manageable”. A spokesman for Hearts declined to comment on the ruling.

Another irate supporter said at the time the club had “failed to act on any of the feedback given by disgruntled fans”.

“The club have been boasting about how popular this pricing structure is when fans are so aggrieved by it, with many now choosing not to renew at all.”

What could Celtic do/say right now ?

If Celtic were serious about – removing the lid from the masonic cabal – that runs Scottish fitba. Take a dramatic step and, ban the BBC Scotland from having ANY media facilitie’s at CP.

If the bored can be cowardly and ban Hugh Keevins for hitting a raw-nerve by alluding to – Celtic sending out begging letters – for fans to by season tickets then, how does Keevins compare to the BBC’s two anchormen – Rob McLean and Pat Nevin, pi##ing all over the Celtic fans at the SCF v M/well last season ?

  8. Perhaps Celtic should issue a statement clarifying the position with Juninho’s situation. That would kill the rumours.

As things stand, for the uninitiated, this article is just as likely to be speculation as the stuff appearing on the hun sites and in the MSM.

The record books need to be set straight.

Strip them of any and all ill-gotten titles and trophies – or as Super Ally put it, “wur dignity”.

This will be like a stake in the heart of the undead body of Rangers FC, a message to the world that Scottish football does not tolerate cheating, and a clear statement of intent that the rules will henceforward be applied to all clubs without fear or favour.

I believe good Victorians like Struth, McBeath, Campbell, and the McNeil brothers would have been disgusted at the perversion of sporting integrity their club went on to perpetrate. The facecombers would be better served pondering that than making up fantasy stories about Juninho and Pacific Shelf 595 Limited from the sweaty confines of their virtual padded cells.

  20. Has summer’s brief fling with ‘integrity’ been forgotten so soon?

Anyway…..integrity,now having been thoroughly analyzed,is discarded and we move on in our gnat-like attention span culture to the next buzz-words.

  24. Hi everyone,

It just dawned on me yesterday that whilst wee Oscar’s fundraising campaign is going very well, I have slipped up in one very important area!!

The #TeamOscar wristbands are in huge demand, mostly thanks to Joe Ledley (the gentleman that he is) for accepting a delivery and passing them round the bhoys. Then stokesy, big Fraser, Gary Hooper and Joe himself were tweeting pictures of them wearing them. Lenny tweeted the link to Oscar’s blog and asked everyone to support him and he also put it on his facebook page. Also John Hartson was pictured wearing one of the wristbands at his book signing at the Forge before the game on Saturday! BUT… i doubt any of this has found its way into the newspapers in Scotland. This is a fantastic heart warming story of unity and support for a sick child and it should be in every newspaper!!

I would be very grateful if any of you with the info to hand could email me datails of some select contacts in the main newspapers who I could get in touch with and supply pictures etc. Getting Oscar’s story out into the public eye is crucial to the fundraising campaign so it would be good to get some of them to run this great story of support for our little hero!!! There arent too many clubs who would respond in the way Celtic have, its truely fantastic! The email address is teamoscar@hotmail.co.uk

Also any journos (or anyone else who can help us in any way at all) reading this feel free to get in touch.

Thanks guys and keep up the great work all of you who are getting involved and helping the wee man out. I hope to get him over for his first game in the not too distant future and hopefully we’ll get to meet some of you, and you can meet Oscar. He is an amazing little character who leaves an impression on everyone who meets him!

    Knoxy

p.s. for anyone in this neck of the woods we have some places available on a 300ft (yes THREE HUNDRED! Highest ever here) bungee jump in Carrickfergus (not far from Belfast) this Sunday. A wonderful opportunity to do something really different and raise some money for Oscar. If interested drop us an email for full details. Cheers

  25. Enjoyable weekend in Glasgow made all the more pleasurable with a Celtic victory and Sean unfurling the flag.

Back to London now and looking for a pub in Central London that might be showing the match from Helsinki. Suggestions greatly appreciated.

Might have slipped past but how is the Scottish football authorities investigation into sectarian singing at Ibrox back in February getting on? For younger readers Ibrox is a sports stadium on the south side of Glasgow which hosted a football club who played in the SPL. They were thrown out of the league after they went into administration, are currently awaiting liquidation and further investigations into alleged tax cheating and mis-use of player contracts.

My tidy mind likes to keep the record straight and because the football authorities had publicly announced their sectarian singing investigation back in February I feared that I had missed the conclusion. Perhaps it is still going through due process although I also missed Ally calling out for the names of the investigators. Can anyone help?

  26. Are the Orc’s still sifting and trawling through the bones and ashes of dead stories in some desperate attempt to find a pulse of something dirty? I take it all their straws are gone? Sad. Very sad. So after them vehemently insisting until they were blue in the face that scores and scores of EBT’s are not illegal…bladabladabla…they are trying to get us on a single solitary EBT…as well as the fact they tell us they are the same ‘Club’…bladabladabla…but insist we are Pacific Shelf 1994…cognitive dissonance right enough. Take yer medicine ya bunch of criminally insane scumbags…show a bit of contrition and humility…it will make you feel a whole lot better and who knows maybe that indignant supremacist rage might somehow evaporate…and they wonder why no one likes them.
