The Juninho EBT

1126

I see several “fans’ groups” are engaged on the subject of our old friend, Juninho, who played around 13 games for Celtic eight years ago and benefited from an Employee Benefit Trust before and during his time at the club.

Can you believe this is where their focus is?

As Sir David Murray and a gaggle of his former directors will tell you, there is nothing illegal in EBTs, it’s the undeclared second contracts the football authorities have a problem with. Juninho’s EBT was not subject to any contract or side letter whatsoever. Moreover, our then chairman, Brian Quinn, regarded EBTs with suspicion and instructed the club to declare Juninho’s to the Revenue. Celtic even paid tax on money paid to the EBT.

The SFA and SPL, and every journalist in Scotland interested in getting a story right, are fully aware of the facts.

I suppose running with this beats looking at links between Green and Whyte. Keep up the good work, guys!

And for the record, stripping titles is not the ultimate sanction, not by the length of Argyle St.

  2. EXCLUSIVE:

Sir David Murray claims he was temporarily blind when he was issued with the SFA rules on double contracts.

“What people have to remember is that there is a tick box asking if you are blind…but I couldn’t find it…I had been drinking a lot of Grange Hermitage at the time and a crate of Pessac Leognan from my fine wine cellar with Joanna Lumley…I must have been blind for a few days when they gave me the forms.”

Jobo you may or not know that Paul and his merry crew of developers are busy improving the CQN website, making changes which will make you’re visit a more pleasurable experience, for example an up to date weather report from East Kilbride will be there for all and sundry to view, yir sacked!

There are other back of the shop changes happening, e.g. a new webtool which actively searches and destroys posts from muppet like lurking huns. These CQN developer bhoys n ghirls are doing a wonderful job moving a 1 here there and everywhere, sometimes swapping said “1”s for “0”s and generally looking busy when Paul67 sticks his heid roon the door.

So in summary Jobo, this may be the cause of you’re wee problem in reading page fore (that was fur the gowfers).

both AngelGabriel and Jamie McWilliam (welcome Jamie) had gps/iphone apps on Friday. At one point they even offered to help me out with a distance to the green (front and back , would you believe). I thanked them and pointed out that i would also need launch control and a guidance system to put it to any use .

Thanks to James Newman (Hibee and all round good guy) for coming last and saving me from that priviledge.

I predict the much vaunted hover-pitch of yore will soon morph into tales of u.f.o’s taking the assembled hordes at iPox to a brave new world in a galaxy far far away.

    Well….we can but hope.

garcia lorca . from previous page.the .s.f.a.have been having an inquiry into the hums fans invading the pitch at motherwell in the early 70’s .score at the time MOTHERS 3 HUMS 2.final score M.3 HUMS 5. they still have not given their verdict.you wont get an answer to februarys chanting this year or next.

  8. Re EBTs was back in Glasgow at the weekend and the chit chat in some Sevco circles is that former club had won on a technicality ; not sure if HMRC would be able to appeal? Let’s see what this week brings.

  9. Minty will say that he took the best legal advice possible and was assured everything was above board. He was only doing his best for the club as he always did and it would be unfair for Charlie Green’s new lot to pay for any inadvertent administrative errors that may or may not have been committed long ago.

  10. This will be significant.

If D&P are there to represent oldco then this will preclude newco from raising any protest and will mean they cannot reasonably claim the rangers history, as they’re establishing a clear sporting distinction between the two clubs. It will however also mean they are free from any sanctions or fines imposed which will instead be delivered to oldco. However as the saying goes, you can’t get the britches off a bare a….

If Charles Green attends representing newco then they are accepting the continuity of rangers in a sporting context, and therefore newco are subject to any sporting sanctions imposed as a result of the sporting actions of oldco. This will mean they can appeal any decision and lay a dubious claim to the history. However it also means that the newco is entirely liable for the sporting transgressions of the oldco. In this respect the outcome of the SPL investigation and sanctions imposed may turn out to be the least of their worries, if Celtic and other interested parties pursue their loss of earnings over a 10yr period at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

I’ve said previously, for the newco breaking sporting rules could prove far more troublesome than the legal issues. The legal issues have been cast adrift with the oldco, the sporting issues just won’t go away until there’s a clear acceptance that old rangers are dead.

  11. Whoops…Missed the first two sentences –

I’m more interested in who the EBT charge will be levelled against, who will be represented at the judicial hearing, who (if necessary) will lodge an appeal against the outcome, and who will ultimately take the sanctions.

It’ll be interesting to see it’ll be D&P or charles green who turn up for the hearing, as the representatives of the accused party.

  12. The Honest Mistake loves being first 13:21

I loved that from Dodds. I was owed money from rangers, so agreed to take it as a loan from them that they could ask for back at anytime.

  14. A couple of days into his trial, Doddsy, the man accused of committing the tax evasion and EBT crimes, stands up and asks for permission to approach the Judge.

“Your Honor,” Doddsy say’s, “I would like to change my plea from innocent to guilty of the charges.”

“If you are guilty,” the Judge bellowed, banging his fist angrily on the desk, “why did you not say so in the first place and save this court a lot of time and inconvenience?”

Timidly and trembling, Doddsy explains, “Well, when the trial began I did think I was innocent, but that was before I had the opportunity to hear all the evidence against me.”

  15. From the CSA site. Looks like Ned Flanders has been banned.

Has Keevins been banned from Celtic Park?

I hear that Celtic Chief Executive Peter Lawwell has finally lost his patience with one of Moonbeams Murrays favourite lapdogs Hugh Keevins; I believe Keevins has been banned from Celtic Park, not before time, and it should send out a message to his journalist colleagues, either shape up or ship out.

Since the start of February Keevins and his friends in the Scottish Media have been bending over backwards to try to help Oldco Rangers maintain their place in the SPL, even after their efforts failed they continue to paint the picture of a slow lingering death for Scottish Football.

I would have thought it was the duty of the Scottish Football Media to promote Scottish Football, what chance did the SPL and SFA have of negotiating a decent television deal with SKY and ESPN when the doom merchants were in a state of hysteria?

I have been greatly encouraged by the crowd at the matches against Helsinki and Aberdeen, it might not have been full houses but the attendances were vastly greater than was predicted by the press.

In that respect I would congratulate the Aberdeen fans for turning up at Celtic Park in greater numbers that in recent years, although I didn’t understand why Neil Lennon was getting abuse from them.

Wednesday night is a massive game for us, we need to be playing in the Champions League, we need that involvement to maintain and improve our football squad, we also need the buzz for our supporters, I genuinely believe we can get through.

Apart from the Champions League there is a domestic treble to be played for, like Aberdeen, Dundee Utd, Hearts, and Motherwell will fancy their chances, at the end of the season the record books will show the winners, let’s do our best to make sure it’s Celtic’s name that is on the three trophies, we as supporters have our part to play in that quest.

If the supporters continue to turn up in significant numbers the players will get energy from that, we have to be the twelfth man in every match, the supporters have won games in the past by their passion, and we can do so again in the future. Come on you bhoys in green.

Waxy O’Conmors in Manchester is showing it. If you fancy?

  17. Random Off topic. You know those viewing figures the press are so keen on for TV viewers. They come from an organisation called BARB, who gather the figures from:

    a panel of 5,100 homes

these homes return data from around 11,500 viewers

audiences are reported on a minute-by-minute basis

That doesn’t seem a very big sample to determine what everyone in the UK is watching and when??

  19. One of the main reasons that dole offices stopped cash payments decades ago was the alarming frequency with which they were hit, bank robber style. I actually witnessed one of these events. It wasn’t uncommon.

So,the cost of security for Green’s wee f.c. outings as they can only take cash payments will be astronomical. It would be cheaper to set up a debit/credit card payment system. It really does make you wonder why he cannot (or will not) acquire this facility.

The number of season tickets and estimated attendance figures are then exactly that : estimates/guesstimates.

However….don’t hold your breath waiting for ANY msm outlet to inform anyone of any of this.

More serious questions will,of course,in corrupted Scotland,go unanswered.

    All,

I am sure over past few weeks we have come across an undignified Sevco fan either in our working or personal live. Now these … undersireables have the party line of “company deid not Club” Why not some journalist put out a communication saying that is the case. As I read back MSM doing that? Good one. It seems they have one belief, we have another but nobody can be proven right or wrong?

  24. Don’t know if this has been the subject of a recent post; I have received a couple of phone calls from a company wishing to buy my Celtic shares stating they working on behalf of a consortium looking to increase their shareholding. I presume it is a scam and sent them packing

They have all the other channels but if a Celtic match conflicts with the epl, then you’re outta luck, yet it has the aforementioned Irish sounding name.

Philvis is axiomatically right therefore you’re wrong. QED.

I believe fans of Sevco have gone beyond our knowledge of the physical, legal, and corporeal world, in which Rangers is very much dead, and they proclaim Sevco to be imbued with the sacred essence of Rangers in the same way that Buddhists proclaim the reincarnation of their Dalai Lama, or BBC writers cast the new lead in Doctor Who.

Sevco-ology is also much like Whovianism and Buddhism in that they are all entertaining fictions. (thumbsup)
