The Juninho EBT

1126

I see several “fans’ groups” are engaged on the subject of our old friend, Juninho, who played around 13 games for Celtic eight years ago and benefited from an Employee Benefit Trust before and during his time at the club.

Can you believe this is where their focus is?

As Sir David Murray and a gaggle of his former directors will tell you, there is nothing illegal in EBTs, it’s the undeclared second contracts the football authorities have a problem with. Juninho’s EBT was not subject to any contract or side letter whatsoever. Moreover, our then chairman, Brian Quinn, regarded EBTs with suspicion and instructed the club to declare Juninho’s to the Revenue. Celtic even paid tax on money paid to the EBT.

The SFA and SPL, and every journalist in Scotland interested in getting a story right, are fully aware of the facts.

I suppose running with this beats looking at links between Green and Whyte. Keep up the good work, guys!

And for the record, stripping titles is not the ultimate sanction, not by the length of Argyle St.

Many thanks for the info. Looks like the Cock Tavern at Euston is the safe bet. I have seen it mentioned on here on many occasions but have usually watched games such as Wednesday’s from behind the safety of my own lounge sofa!

Miki67 @13.39, luv the statement about the hoverpitch of yore!

It sums up the fantasy world where the huns and their MSM cohorts live.

Regarding the huns attendance tomorrow it doesn’t really matter if they pack the stadium to the rafters tomorrow night, they wont still be there in 10 weeks time. Regardless of what Shug and the MSM say.

  4. As Murray hops around like a Kangaroo with the heebie-jeebies…Traynor sticks his head out of the lickspittle pouch to hiss his support of Sir Moonbeams…but what of Chico, where is he? Why is he sitting like an undelivered second contract at the bottom of an old mail bag? Come on Chico gives us your take from inside the darkness of the Murray marsupium like a newly wakened wombat…a marsupial needs to know what side of the pouch he’s on.

  5. Afternoon Bhoys! After watching izzy make his come back at the end of last season and performances up till now is anyone else as concerned as I with his form? I remember him from his player of the year season as a swashbuckling left back but have seen nothing from him for quite sometime. In the last two games the opposition attacks have mainly come from his side and we seem to get caught out when him and Sammy are on the same side. As an attacking full back driving up the left flank I love him but when defending said flank he can give us some heart in mouth moments.

With the biggest game of the season on the horizon do you think we should play the wee man when he seems low on confidence and teams are getting at us at will down that side?

We all know about Rangers lack of contrition with regard to ebts and not paying tax to pay players but there is another area where lack of contrition and determination to keep getting it wrong is at play and that is how they intend to run “The Rangers” as a football business.

The template for doing so is already there at Celtic, scout out young talent wherever it can be found home or abroad and develop it.

Give it a chance at first team football,in Europe if possible, and then when the numbnuts with more money than sense want to buy them charge what they are clearly worth. One £10M xfer a season is worth more than the pursuit of CL money that is at the best unpredictable and costly to achieve..

If CG wants to get Rangers supporters back on board he has to offer them something other than the same stuff that liquidated them. I see no sign of that whatsoever, no sign of revamping their football operation to run if not profitably certainly not unsustainably..

Some Rangers supporters have been living off financial doping for so long they cannot recognise the addiction and simply crave more. This could apply to some of the laptop loyal too.

What business model did CG sell to the SFA and what was the player wage structure in it?

If the SFA and/or SPL have any query with the issue they should ask Celtic and Celtic should answer them.

I Thought that the SFA or SPL or whatever bunch of eejits was in charge at that time had already asked all clubs to declare whether they had operated with Dual contracts / EBT’s etc.

If this was the case, then it would have undoubtedly come out that we had a case to answer.

Say nothing, until we are asked by someone with a right to ask.

  19. TFPLG has said at his press conference ahead of this week’s biggest game (copyright DR) that there were no dual contracts and the EBTs investigation is a waste of time.

  28. NEIL LENNON today refused to pin any blame on the SFA for the very late notification that Charlie Mulgrew was suspended for Saturday’s opening SPL game against Aberdeen.

    Custom byline text:

    By RONNIE CULLY

The Parkhead club only found out on Friday afternoon that the defender had to sit out the match as a punish-ment for receiving a red card in the pre-season friendly against Ajax in Amsterdam on July 21.

    Contextual targeting label:

    Sport

Scotland’s Player of the Year was sent off by Dutch ref Bas Nijhuis for deliberately using a hand to stop a shot from crossing the goal-line.

Celtic made enquiries before leaving Holland the following day to establish if the red card would be reported to SFA, and were assured this would not be happening because it was such a minor offence, and not serious foul play.

However, on Friday, the Dutch FA decided to inform the SFA of the offence, and an automatic ban for the first competitive domestic game kicked in.

Lennon was astonished when the SFA – whose list of suspensions was issued to all clubs on Thursday without Mulgrew’s name being included – got in touch with Celtic to tell them the player must serve the ban in the match against Aberdeen – less than 24 hours later.

By that time, Celtic had completed their prepara-tions for the match, including their set-piece drills, with the defender heavily involved.

Lennon accepts that the SFA were not at fault for the eleventh-hour decision to ban the player.

He said: “To be fair to the SFA, they did not receive any notification from the Dutch FA until Friday afternoon, so I attach no blame to the SFA on that one at all.

“We were under the impression that the referee was not going to report it and that it would have been waved away.

“That’s what we were told after the game against Ajax.

“But, then, after having done our preparations for the game against Aberdeen, on Friday afternoon we were told Charlie was suspended.”

Speculation it may or may not be but “idle and uninformed” I doubt very much.

  31. UEFA is investigating evidence that suggests a Europa League match was fixed last month.

UEFA says its betting fraud monitoring system “has detected suspicious betting patterns” in Albanian club Tirana’s 5-0 loss against Aalesund of Norway.

European football’s governing body says it has “mandated a disciplinary inspector to further investigate the matter.”

Norway’s football association has said it was alerted by the national lottery, which stopped taking bets when the score reached 2-0 in the second-leg match of the second qualifying round on July 26.

Lottery officials reported unusual betting patterns from undisclosed Asian countries, including wagers that the game would end 5-0.

Aalesund, which scored four times in the second half, advanced 6-1 on aggregate.

  32. Is there a name for the weariness I feel surrounding the ‘The Rangers’, Oldco, Sevco, Lodgeco??????

It’s brought on by the long periods of media manipulation. It happens in every aspect of public life – a viewpoint is pushed, it forces itself to become the dominant narrative. Those who see past it to the truth or a better alternative are shouted down as fanatics, loonatics, bigots. When they are proved right a new narrative is developed to twist the newly proved truth. This is aimed at wearing out those who would dissent from the version of events being pushed by the financially or power dominant groups.

For example: People discover Rangers Oldco are in big trouble with tax man and bank. Massive public campaign put in motion to counter the claim. But of course, because it’s true the campaign of denial is bound to come to an end when the facts become undeniable. A brief period of elation is enjoyed by the group who exposed the issue. No matter, the dominant group changes the tack of it’s lies and obfuscation. The group with the truth feal a little demoralised but continue to tell the truth. And here’s the crux – the dominant group, knowing that the majority of people will take headlines and news at face value have still ‘won’ in their own eyes because most people except those with an interest will lazily accept their changed narrative.

Activists will get a little more demoralised that people can’t be bothered or don’t want to face the truth.

    And so it goes on.

The only things to sustain the groups who want truth are comradeship of like minded people and a conviction for truth and fairness. But in the midst of a battle against those with greater resources it’s easy to give up.

REgarding the lack of contrition shown by rangers people it is hard for football to move on. They are showing no signs of change. THat indicates to me that either they are genuinely blind to the lessons of the past OR the Newco is, for Green and whoever his backers are, a short term project. They just don’t care, their fans are rotten and I’m fed up with it today. I’m fed up with them and their arrogance.

  33. The Orc’s should heed and hark every warning. Healey’s words should have been enough. “Don’t let a thief into your house three times. The first time was enough. The second time was a chance. The third time means you’re stupid.”

The future warns us through present problems, that should be our presentiment. Good things make you blind. Bad things happen when you think your home and free. The hordes should have taken warning from the moonbeams pipe dream. They have no one to blame but themselves and when it happens again who will they find to blame? “A hot lust for glory, gems, gold or mates,

Leads reckless young drakes to the blackest of fates.”

“And on the pedestal these words appear:

‘My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:

Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!’

Nothing beside remains.
