As far as Armageddons go, this one will surely be known as the Amiable Nursemaid of all Armageddons. The kind that not so much wipes everyone out, but buys them a meal, then takes them to a show and onto a nightclub.
Sky has renewed their deal to cover the Scottish Premier League after Our Man sorted them out yesterday. They will show a handful of Scottish Football League games as part of the deal, a nice quid-pro-quo for SPL clubs for their annual contribution to the lower leagues.
Delicious irony: those SFL rights are worth more to each SPL club than they are to any SFL club.
Chief harbinger of doom, Neil Doncaster, will, on the one hand, be relieved that there is still income to pay his wages. On the other hand, he must surely be embarrassed at the spectacularly in accurate scenario he portrayed to SFL clubs, and to several people in the media. Did he embark on a flamboyant bluff or did he simply not know what he was talking about?
Remember, why we are here in the first place… Our good causes this year are The Haven Centre in Blantyre, Oscar Knox Neuroblastoma Appeal, Martin Chambers Ecuador Trust and Aberdour Primary School Parents’ Association.

The items are being raffled on ebay right now for the price of a £1 ticket. Winners will be drawn at the CQN Open on Friday night. There will be further raffles and auctions on Friday night with some excellent golfing and other sporting activities been donated by the Celtic family. Perhaps the pick is a limited edition canvas print of John Thomson, donated by the John Thomson Memorial Committee. There are only 22 of these in the entire world, representing the 22 years of John’s life.
This is a unique opportunity to win three great pieces of Celtic memorabilia, items which would normally be pushed out of the reach of most people at auction. Tickets cost £1, buy as many as you like, but participate. This is what your club is all about!

There are journalists poised to spread negativity to highlight how much their favourite team will be missed. Quoting attendance figures from a friendly is pathetic. After Saturday we will have played 4 home games in just over two weeks, the aggregrate attendance will be around 150,000. Not bad going when two of these games are friendlies and this is a figure that many EPL teams would love to achieve.
Will there be a follow up article tomorrow if the crowd is 50,000 tonight to say the Celtic fans are not apathetic or despondent?
I cannot wait for tonight but I cannot get my head around the fact that Celtic supporters who can go and support their team do not, because of a grievance with the board. Why don’t you turn your scarf upside down or something?

i seem to remember Jobo had posted a break down of sections at the end of June and it was circa 39,000. Then Matt mcglone had tweeted in the region of 45,000.
If we have sold in the region of 40,000 ST’s ( and counting ) the question i would like answered is how many teams in Europe ( inc the EPL ) have sold this many briefs?
The train of thought seems to be because we have a 60,000 seater stadium, this is a negative thing, i would say for a league that’s apparently on it’s erchie, 40,000 ST”s should be applauded.

Yer post has just flattened the elation I felt after reading BRTH’s post!!
It was bad enough that the fixtures provided us with Dingwall one week followed by Inverness the next.
For SKY to schedule the first at 12.15pm and the second at 12.45pm is a disgraceful decision.
This gives absolutely no consideration to the supporters or their families.
Disgusted and angry at this.

Re CP attendances.
A couple of years ago, we were slaughtered in some of the press for having ‘only’ 28,000 at a League Cup game on a Wed night against a 1st Div team, if I remember correctly.
It wasn’t about the 28k who showed up, but more about the ‘missing’ 32k.
I was talking to someone in England not long after this and told him about it. He was absolutely astonished at the crowd size for a game like that. They can barely get anyone in their grounds for LC games.
It’s the mindset of the LL to sow negativity into the minds of Celtic supporters.
That worked well enough when all we had to read was the msm.
Now we have platforms like CQN to challenge the witterings of hurting LL.

I couldn’t agree more. When we are trying to get more supporters through the gates we end up with these early kick off times that will almost certainly prevent some from travelling.
I’ll be attending more away games this season but the Highlands may be out of reach.

I am in denial I refuse to believe we will have any problems in disposing a club from Finland back in the day we would have expected to take 5,6 or 7 goals off them surely we have not fallen that far that we will struggle against this mob?
