BRENDAN RODGERS has a massive decision to make ahead of Celtic’s High Noon showdown against Dundee at Dens Park on Sunday.

On-loan Uruguayan Marcelo Saracchi has been in at the kick-off for the champions’ last three Premiership games against Kilmarnock (2-1), Hibs (0-0) and Motherwell (3-2).

Kieran Tierney’s last league start came in the scoreless stalemate at Ibrox at the end of August where he was replaced by the Boca Juniors left-back in the 72nd minute.

The fans’ favourite, who was in the starting line-ups for the Europa encounters against Red Star Belgrade and Sporting Braga and the Premier Sports League Cup quarter-final against Partick Thistle, was a bit-part player for Scotland in their World Cup qualifiers.

ON THE RUN…Kieran Tierney in action during Celtic’s 4-0 Premier Sports League Cup win over Partick Thistle at Firhill.

He replaced Ryan Christie in the 83rd minute of the 3-1 win over Greece and took over as a 72nd-minute substitute for Hoops team-mate Anthony Ralston in the nervy 2-1 success over Belarus.

Saracchi returned to the international fold during the break and went straight into the team for the wins over Dominican Republic and Uzbekistan and was also named captain for the first match by boss Marcelo Bielsa.

The 27-year-old no-nonsense performer is returning to Scotland on a high and says: “Playing for the national team is a beautiful thing and being captain is a huge honour.
“It’s something beautiful that will remain in the memory of my career, as well, something I was able to accomplish.”
Saracchi, speaking to the Daily Record, added: “My goal has always been to play and get playing time because important things are coming up for the national team and I’d like to be there.”

His nation have already qualified for the World Cup Finals in the USA, Canada and Mexico next year while the Scots are two wins against Greece in Athens and Denmark in Glasgow from joining them.
It’s now a straight fight between Tierney v Saracchi for the No.3 position while both ambitious operators have their eyes on the prize in the summer.
It’s make-your-mind-up-time for Rodgers as the Hoops prepare for some crucial confrontations – including a Premier Sports League Cup semi-final against Ibrox opposition on November 2 – before the turn of the year.
It will be intriguing to see who gets the nod between the Scot and the Uruguayan to start on Tayside.
