The land of registration anarchy

796

So how about this scenario, Celtic Youths are trailing in their league with 10 games to go when they register three new players, but someone’s ‘at it’.  The players are all over-age but the date of birth on their registration forms have been incorrectly completed, so the players are registered and become eligible to play the remaining games.  Celtic Youths win their remaining games and win the league.

At the end of the season the deception is uncovered.  The people responsible for filling the forms out incorrectly are criticised but one is president of the Scottish Football Association, who give evidence to an inquiry that as the Association registered the players, the results must stand.

Time to “draw a line under it” is the line from the SFA chief executive, hoping with all his might that no one mentions the Scottish Youth Cup games the players also played in, which would invoke a parallel punishment to the one recently imposed on Spartans Youths for exactly the same offence in the same competition.  The chief exec also dismisses attempts to call those criticised by the inquiry to account as scapegoating.

Ridiculous?  Of course, but this is what we’ve just experienced, with another club, of course.

Challenging the verdict, if possible, is a worthwhile endeavour but it will only treat one symptom of the many issues facing Scottish Premier League clubs, who could be forgiven for losing the will to compete within the rules.  Fans of several SPL clubs now believe their best interests are served by playing in an environment beyond Scotland – for a whole range of reasons.

We have to work with fans of other clubs to make the case for the SPL, as a unit, to leave Scottish football (I see cross-club initiatives are already underway).

On a completely unrelated question, if you had £21m in the bank late last year, and you were burning cash at £1m per month, which year would you run out of money?

  1. Personally 4 at the back, I currently have an issue regarding which 4.

The test of 3, bacoming 5 counting wingbacks appears to be failing, we don’t have the quality to play this.

Is Big Vic suspended? Would that be why Ambrose has been moved more to midfield last two games (apart from the obvious issues with Efe).

Does that leave Rogne/Wilson or does Mulgrew/Wilson, which has never worked, become the pair.

Great post.never actualy thought of the whole scenario that way..

However, despite the heartache in those years mentioned. With wot has come to light and to the extent they went to, to decieve/cheat the rest of scottish football.not once have they really been punished.

Administration then liquidation only occured as a consequence of the horrendous financial strategy they chose to employ.

Pirlo slaps down a stupid journo for suggesting that Juve are guaranteed to be in the next round —–

” Wrong ——- I played for an AC Milan team who were 3 up on Liverpool —– I will remind myself of that before Celtic “

  7. Charles Green has hit out at Korean car-maker Kia for their ‘provocative, ill-judged and blatantly sectarian decision’ to launch a new model, the Kia Provo.

He said – “Kia are making a very big mistake – they have just alienated our 500 million strong global fan-base, none of whom will be purchasing it.”

Ally McCoist also demanded to know the names of those responsible.

“Who are these people?”, he asked.

The battle of the fast track indeed, yesterdays red tops had the opening shots from two uncle tims, Davie Provan and Craig Burley, that the tribute band must get into the top league next season. (After all they have suffered enough). Despite the fact that Chuck has previously declared he won’t allow his new team to play there.

You have just got to laugh at Charles green and his MSM cohorts, Charles has now decided after the Kangaroo court decision went his way, that it’s time to draw a line under it all. Well you see chuck, that’s not your decision to make, and never will be, but it tells us how much crap is in your head if you think you have that influence. The decision by others to draw a line under it will be made when we decide not you.

Unfortunately, despite sevcos poor financial results, they won’t need to splash out to buy new players. They could win the SFL division 2 league with their existing pool of players, and may even take the opportunity to offload one or two from the wage bill, so probably we shouldn’t expect Fat Sally to strengthen too much, Surely even the most desperate of huns realise that the league cup is a step too far for them (a bit like the last 16 CL for us) and their level is the Ramsdens cup, and some new obscure world record no doubt, something like the most expensive collection of players never to win the Ramsdens cup or something like that.

It will be interesting to watch what happens at Dunfermline, If they go into administration, because that will be the same fitba authorities who dish out the sevco punishment once they too go into Administration. Do you think Chuck is hoping that sales of James traynors official book about the rangers demise will keep them going for another season, That book might have a few sequels me thinks

On the matter of provoking Der Bosche even further, me and Mrs. Blind, being ever mindful of economy, boght the Scottish Sun on Saturday. I know, I know, but it was for the buy a rail ticket from anywhere in Scotland for £9 promotion. Getting the Lemonettes homw from ru uni is ever on the mistress’ mind, where mine wanders more towards getting them away back up the road. I digress.

The promotion, with Scotrail, was linked with a picture competition in the paper. you got a voucher fro the tickets and a raffle ticket type job. You had to match the pictures on your raffly thing with those pictured in the rag. They were of Scottish tourist destos and cities. Yuo had to match the place and the ticket price , which was in hundreds, because, if you wer lucky , that’s what you won.

For example ‘ Oban – One Hun’ Meant , natch, the Folly Town and one hundred pounds. ‘Dundee- Two Thousand Hun’, you get the picture.

Apparently ‘ Drongan – One Million Hun’ didn’t make the cut.

  14. All the other clubs are too scared too comment either way. They can’t afford a boycott of supporters from either Celtic or Sevco so they will say nothing.

Dundee United have already felt the brunt of a protest and boycott.
