“In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king.” Erasmus 500-year-old proverb translation lends itself to Glasgow so often. We aspire to live outside this land. It is always necessary to prioritise top level strategy. Celtic did this throughout the ruinous David Murray era at Ibrox. Refusing to match his strategy of running up spectacular losses cost us trophies, but goodness, the payback has been sweet.
Any side can lose a cup-tie, but when it happens, the club has a responsibility to revise its strategic plan and come back stronger. Today, Celtic have that responsibility, strategy looks off. At the very least, communication would be welcome.
Between now and the closure of the transfer window on Monday, we will learn lots about strategy (be it good or bad). Before then, however, the kingdom of the blind is up for grabs. There will be no hiding place for either team if they lose at Ibrox on Sunday.
I have probably seen worse Newco teams but never as badly organised a side as they currently are. The 49ers sure have made an impact. For their part, their fans mocked Celtic’s abject performances against Kairat. Our poor passing, inability to progress the ball and blunt attack were celebrated for 24 hours. Both sides look unfocussed.
After defeat to Brugge last night, James Tavernier, an experienced performer, spoke about turning pain into fuel. In this context, their fuel reserves resemble that of Saudi Arabia. Make no mistake, we have work to do.

Its me again
Celtic is a team that doesn’t know how to win important matches, belonging to a club that doesn’t know what to do with all its cash, owned by a company absent a functioning executive and run by an unaccountable minority shareholder.
I think I’ve got that right.
Miovski to Sevco, £2.6 million
2 blind mice. See how they run.
Celtic need 6 months to sign players cause its so complex dont you know. I dont understand how these other clubs manage it!!!
The 49ers don’t own Sevco, I thought they made that clear in a statement a few months ago?
‘In the land of the blind, the one eye man is king’
A blind man I worked with told me that in his estimation ‘ In the land of the blind, the one eyed man would be the carer and driver, not king’!
I will go one better and say it’s the worst and most badly organised Ibrox team I’ve ever watched. Ever.
And yet we’re going into this game and I reckon it’s about 50/50.
Which tells you what state we’re in.
I’m assuming we weren’t in for Miovski as we have someone better lined up…..right?

Miovski to Sevco, £2.6 million

Sevco never did publish their full year 2024 Accounts did they, or did I miss them?
Taking a ‘big lump’ out of Celtic if Adam Idah moves on, 20 goals is alot over any season never mind last year, when we cashed in on Kyogo.
Waiting for a goal in Kairat, another stark example of meddling with football matters, is the refusal to buy a Number 1. This leaves Celtic supporters and Brendan Rodgers with unshared ambitions of a Celtic strangled by good value and managing decline.
Welcome to the slow lane CSC
All good now then, after last night. Can probably even afford to let a few of our better players go and still be ahead of It’s-definitely-not-rangers, although there’s always the chance they could ditch Fred and get in someone more effective, so there’s certainly some risk of over-regressing. History might provide some lessons on that one.
Always easy to criticise from the outside, the tendency is to go with what little we know and construct our own fantasy out of it. Hyperbolic language, and talking in extremes normally suggest a lack of understanding of the real life situation, football encourages a simple view of complex situations.
Having said all that, and taking all the difficulties of attracting football talent to Scotland into consideration, their signing have been pish and their manager even worse.
Appointing Russell Martin suggests they don’t know what theyre doing, its such a bad decision, it was such a bad decision at the time. The Huns need to win every game, they appointed someone who won 2 out of 38 in his last league campaign. They need a manager who can get results against better resourced teams in Europe, Martin was laughed at in England for refusing to compromise his style when he gave away simple goals playing out from the back and refusing to compromise at all agaisnt better EPL teams.
I read that their signings were good, but they are entirely unsuited to playing for the Huns. Ally Mccoist described them as “wee boys” yesterday.
I know Yang isn’t a good winger, but everytime we have a bad game he is the that gets all the flak,Aberdeen Cup final ,Almaty, scapegoat, I could name a few on Tuesday night performance, Tierney,CCV,Ralston,Idah, Madia, McGregor,Forrest, Rodgers for telling Yang to play on the left, which he Rodgers done against Aberdeen in the cup final,Rodgers knows what he is doing regarding Yang ,he Rodgers knew he would get flak from the supporters, so to take away the heat from him,Yang was the put in the firing line.
They’ve sold Igamane and within 24 hours sourced his replacement in Miovski.
They have a better functioning recruitment process than we do, that is beyond question.
Watched thems conceded goals nearly all from very good crosses into the box and excellent headers just a pity we don’t have any players with the ability to do either
JAMES FORREST on 28TH AUGUST 2025 12:17 PM
James., with respect, it tells us what your opinion is.
Have we signed anybody yet?
Are we even rumoured to be close to signing anybody yet?
In the land of the blind the one eyed man is king.
Unfortunately that is where we choose to compete. It is far easier and much more risk averse to step down a notch to compete in Scotland than step up a notch to compete in Europe with like sized clubs.
Peter Lawwell once said at an AGM that we don’t budget for CL money. Might explain our utter failure to make the group stages in our last five times we have had to qualify.
I believe the board implement Desmond’s strategy, That’s where the problem lies. Allow recruitment to get in a few early projects. Ignore any calls for first team ready players until the last week of window and then see what agents have left. That in a nutshell is why we are never prepared for qualifiers.
Our new Uruguayan left back was offered to us by an agent. In the last week of the window. Same as it ever was.

imo his opinion is right.

their fans are desperate that he goes anywhere, want shot of him big time.
I hope Brendan and the team approach the game on Sunday with the right mentality. No distractions, no ulterior motives, no point scoring.
The team needs to get back to winning big games, our confidence needs a big boost ahead of the Europa league when games against better opposition come quickly. Its the perfect opportunity.
I hope Martin gives us a decent game, and sets up in the same way that Kairat did, and the other teams that have given us such a hard time in big games since Bayern. Another free hit against a crap team isnt particularly helpful. The Europa League is full of the sort of teams we’ve struggled against and will employ the same tactics, we need to learn to play against them quick, starting Sunday.
With Idah seemingly off to Swansea , I can’t wait to see who our new upgraded, first choice striker will be !
I can just picture him …. 6′ 4″ , pacy , strong , able to hold the ball up and lay it off accurately , great anticipation , movement and positional sense , lethal with both feet and the head.
And only £250,000 !
Dykes to Hibs,Bowie to Celtic, Idah to Swansea……..trying to join some dots here
Ghuys, ghuys… we have nothing to fear except fear itself !
And complacency. Mibby smugness anaw. Unnecessary brinkmanship. Plus ego struggles. Opaque manoeuvres as well. Oh… a depleted and dispirited squad. And distracted key players. And the reality that the huns tend to be more feral than our lovely lads…
Talk about manufacturing yer own stress !!
PS: Took Mrs Quad to see a new Darron Aronofsky film ‘Caught Stealin’ – a stylish and fun crime romp about a boozy ex-ball player, a London punk, bent cop and some kosher mafia.
You’re not kidding we have work to do most of it in the buying market although I see that they’ve already spent their CL 5m euro on miovski, say what you like they spend on their first team we don’t as we’re a plc first and always.
Idah linked with Swansea for his sake I hope he goes as he has been briefed against/destroyed to discredit Rodgers

8 of their Summer signings started last night, 3 of them got hooked at half time when they were 5-0 down.
Team for Sunday
SinIsalo
Donavan Pusey Murray Inamura
Engles mcGregor Bernardo
Nygren Kenny Osmand
cant be any worse, or could it.
Take anything you can get for Idah,he will never be a regular starter for Celtic, a ghost IMO
Who was Super Salary alluding to last night ?
‘The recruitment has been shocking ‘

You’re missing the point. They’re plugging gaps almost immediately to help their manager. Celtic? Doing neither…..
rangers go out of the CL and today but an Spfl level proven striker.
We have still to announce any players.
I would not lose any sleep over losing Idah or Yang. They have had plenty chances and haven’t played well. What I am concerned about is Celtic strategy. Idah was signed last year after a successful loan spell and then sold after one season. Where is our Development strategy? Where is Brendan claims of improving players?
Poor performances are not new. Tuesdays was shocking. What motivates these players? If they aren’t motivated by Champions League then what motivates them. A hostile Ibrox on Sunday is a worry, although Sevco are in trouble themselves.
We go down to Europa League and we have reports of 2 players leaving but no incoming. I thought we had already saved the money for not making Champions League. Is our strategy to keep monies for new Manager next year. Inamura, Shin, Osmand, Kenny, Simpson-Pusey, Murray Are they going to play.? Brendan obviously doesnt rate them. What is our Strategy here.
Tierney is still not fully match fit Full pre-season and 6 games and cant do 90 mins also not impressive in this team yet. CCV McGregor Trusty, Hatate all have fitness questions. What is our strategy here?
Its past time for someone at the club to communicate with the supporters. Desmond, Lawwell, Nicolson, Rodgers Tisdale. anyone let us know the thinking and whats the plan?
Idah scored over 20 goals last season, He scored 3 in the champions league and his endeavours led to the goal that qualified us from our group. His goals to minute ratio was up there with the best of our strikers considering he wasn’t a regular first choice starter for most of the season,
Unfortunately his confidence is shot with the constant criticism, His price tag (not his fault) was an albatross around his neck and constantly used by snipers to get at the manager.
For his own sake he needs to be somewhere else.
If he goes let’s not judge any loss of fee on our ROI. He did contribute whilst he was here. Me thinks he didn’t stand much of a chance with the knives out for him so early.
For reference £9m is a lot in Celtic world. It is peanuts elsewhere. Fabio Silva the diver that couldn’t cut it at Ibrox has just moved from wolves to Dortmund for £25m
The best communication the club can make is to sign the 4-5 players the manager & squad needs before the window shuts.

Anyone can fill gaps with crap players. Helping the manager, getting them in early and filling the gaps immediately has got them a new team that were 5-0 down at half time last night. Thats what matters.
BIGBHOY on 28TH AUGUST 2025 1:01 PM
What does Tisdale do? Genuine question.
I was hoping the Huns would do what we did with Moussa – sell their want away striker on the last day then claim they’d no choice and no time to secure a replacement. No such luck.
