THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY

FORMER Celtic target Henry Onyekuru is poised to seal a £6.8million move to Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger’s side have already agreed a deal with his Belgian club, KAS Eupen, to bring in the Nigerian winger.
The pacy attacker was on Brendan Rodgers’ radar during the January transfer window, but an apparent bid  of around £1million was knocked back by his club. You can now see why.
Onyekuru, who is likely to be granted a work permit, was the joint top scorer in the Jupiler Pro League last season after claiming 24 strikes in all competitions.

He recently revealed he has spoken with his Super Eagles team-mate Alex Iwobi about the English Cup winners.

The 20-year-old forward admitted: “We talked a bit about Arsenal and Arsene Wenger and he has nothing but praises for his manager and team-mates.

“Iwobi said they are like a family in the dressing room and even the senior players treat the upcoming players like their equals.

“It was a very brief discussion, but he said a lot of good things about the club.”

Onyekuru went awol and missed three games in the middle of the campaign after the Belgian minnows had blocked the move from the Hoops.
He was persuaded to return to help their successful battle against relegation from the top flight. KAS promised to allow the player to leave this summer and indications are that he will head for London.
Onyekuru can now be filed under the one that got away.
