The overlap-ers are back

143

Kieran Tierney’s cross for Liam Scales to score Celtic’s fourth goal on Saturday encapsulates why Brendan Rodgers wanted the player back.  Meeting a ball first time and sending a cross into the danger area sounds like an easy thing to do, but how many times have we seen promising moves crumble when the cross hits the first defender, clears the penalty area or goes out of play (looking at you, Daizen)?

That goal is an early indication of what we have discussed a few times recently.  Celtic will pivot away from the inverted fullback system to the overlapping model.  Kieran and Alistair Johnston (who is also naturally an overlap-er) will be asked to get crosses into the box.

This impacts who you need in the box (more like Adam Idah, less like Kyogo) and changes the shape of the midfield.  It will be an interesting watch to see how this progresses between now and September.

“Suffering of civilians in Gaza has reached new depths’: 26 nations call for immediate end to war in Gaza.”

But it’s not a war, is it? “War is an armed conflict between the armed forces of states.”

Israel has attacked Gaza 15 times since 1948.

    This is genocide…

Get the Workers Party of Britain elected as the government in UK starting with next years Scottish elections.

WPB will pull Britain out of NATO and the Imperialism/Colonialism scam will crumble with immediate effect.

WPB are the only party in Europe who aren’t controlled by the lobby groups, Lab, Lib, Con, Snp, Green, Reform, FF, FG, SF?, are all bent and corrupted and can’t be trusted to do what they all say they’ll do then it never happens.

WPB will make a Uk alliance with China, Russia, and other BRICS countries to storm int o Gaza and bring this disaster to a halt.

Snp are controlled by the vermin.

    1000% agree.

Any reference to this as war is totally wrong.

It is genocide and worse than that happening under our noses.

The question will be asked of our generation :

What did you do about it ?

    Some marched

    Some protested

    Some wrote to MPs

    Some wrote to newspapers

    Some flew flags at home

Some flew flags at football grounds

Most did bugger all. In reality.

As for the labour government …… they are the biggest disgrace of all. Yet again. Sadly.

My local labour MP actually told me that once in power they would take a different and stronger view on Palestine. They have. The opposite of what I hoped for. Outlawing peaceful protesters of my old vintage was the last straw for me.

Doing this while allowing racist thugs away with violence against police and anyone else in their way in Essex shows up the coward we have runnnig the country sadly. And their police ‘enforcers’ (joke).

I’m all for appropriate scrutiny of a manager’s use (or non-use) of players in the squad.

    This ain’t that.

Love Frank McA to bits … at that cheeky chappie, “Mike Giggler via email” level.

Don’t think his views on modern squad management are valuable.

If the shoe was on the other foot ….

…. and Brendan opined publicly about how to do offshore sunken treasure hunting more effectively?

Would Macca be interested or offended?

Not the nicest place to visit mind you.

Neither is Hungary these days. The other Israel loving alternative.

Personally I would love Pafos to beat them in round 2 and then the Cypriots to beat Kyiv before playing us. Unlikely but plenty to like about that scenario.

i would like to think that having a leader who uses their tax money to carry out a genocide would also be ‘challenging’ to many labour voters.
