Whenever Leigh Griffiths and Patrick Roberts were on the ball last night, Lincoln Red Imps sensed danger. Both could control instantly, control with little space and disorientate defenders. Leigh and Patrick aside, the rest had an excellent first half. Passing was crisp, accurate and fast.
The shape of the team, with variously Lustig, Brown, Tierney and Shevchenko operating in a moveable back three, allowed players to find space between Red Imps’ 5-4-1.
These games are not about impressing anyone, they are about getting into the next round, but the tie was over by halftime, allowing Celtic to step the pace down, and Red Imps to show that they were more than they appeared to be in the first half.
Stiffer tests lie ahead, when more will need to perform at the levels of Patrick and Leigh.

Could someone please tell where I apply for my insider source on Celtic’s transfer dealings. I have my season ticket and shares but seem to have missed out on my “in the know” allocation.
All these posts on how Celtic haven’t done this or have done that stated with such conviction as if their information was 100% rock solid and not just speculation or illinformed opinion.
So a guy who is, according to some on here, so focused on achieving his bonus targets he micromanages all aspects of every transfer and won’t even pay the living wage to employees is supposedly prepared to “gamble” on qualification for the richest tournament in football.
Alternatively Celtic may be actively trying to sign players and so for only signed one(?) and some deals take longer than others.
Just wish I had applied for my insider knowledge then I could then finish every post with FACT.
