The Poste’ always delivers

484

Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone, prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone, the time has come.  Ange Postecoglou is officially Celtic manager.  It has been a long wait but consistent with Celtic’s typical managerial appointment times (Neil Lennon first got the job on 9 June 2010, despite already being in temp position).

The chapter of our history on Angelos Postecoglou now begins.  I’m only slightly annoyed they didn’t announce it at noon…..  Ange has delivered success beyond expectation wherever he goes.  That will be difficult to achieve at Celtic, where expectations are stratospheric, but hope in our hearts, and all that.

Strap in, it’s going to be a blast.  Best of luck, Ange.

  1. I was disappointed with Dom McKay’s interview .

He is just what I expected .

    A political beast .

When asked what timescale the fans should expect to see Ange in Scotland ?

He avoided giving a direct ,informative answer.

He gave the type of response that David Cameron would give.

“ we are doing all we can to get him here as soon as possible.

No info on the timescale .

I had hoped for a genuine open communicator that the fans can relate to.

    Early days .

    Just my initial gut reaction.

More Terry Cassidy than I would like.

In contrast i thought he interviewed well.

But nice of you to paint him as a Tory on his first day.

  3. Might it be as the man has to pack a family up, arrange flights from a place where they can’t fly from in to a country where quarantine has to happen?

can you tell me anyone in the world who can predict during this pandemic, when they will definately (h) arrive somewhere. travel and quarantine regs changing in parts of the world every day.

It was. A welcome change to read something that’s informed by more than wiki and Transfermarkt and isn’t playing to the crowd for clicks.

  8. 🙋‍♂️ First chance to comment today and it is clear to me that Ange Postecoglou absolutely gets us, and judging from his comments today, dare I be the first to say it, may turn out to be our very own ‘Special One’, but in a good way! 👍🍀😊

It is fantastic to see so many good supporters on here today who are only interested in getting right behind our new Manager and our beloved Club! 😊. I don’t think he will suffer fools or anyone who will not give of their best, but I also think he will get the best out of our players and staff, so I am chilled as to whoever they may be, whether already at the Club or soon to join us. I imagine young players like O’Connel must be salivating at the new ambitious prospects under Ange Postecoglou! 😊 👍

It is also clear to me that the ongoing FUD SMSM Operation to Divide and Conquer the Celtic Support is already underway and has been ramped up from today… As long as we recognise this for what it is, and call it out, then I think this is a good thing… It shows that they FEAR OUR POTENTIAL and will attempt to undermine us at every opportunity.

All we need to do is stick TOGETHER and SUPPORT everyone at the Club; after all we ARE Celtic Supporters, Faithful through and through! 😊 🍀❤️

    Yours in Celtic,

    TB&F. 😊 🍀

  9. Welcome to the new boss. I saw a documentary about him on YouTube. Interesting back story. Part of an Immigrant community that organised around a football club. I know that means little in terms of his abilities, but it makes him that bit more relatable to me and I hope to the wider celtic family.

Hope he gets the players in that we need.

Comparisons with car crash managers at sevco do not stand scrutiny. We are still the financial big bhoys. If we can sort out the recruitment it means we won’t be putting lipsticks on joey garner type pigs and telling the world they are super models. Ange has that advantage which others, including 3 years to win a trophy manager of the century slippy g, didn’t have. More money than the other guys. It still matters.

Anyway, focus is now on backroom staff, DOF and player recruitment. Good players cover a multitude of coaching sins.

However, the minimum I expect of Ange is organising us at set pieces. That alone would have turned last season around.

  10. Huge Welcome to the World Famous Glasgow Celtic – Ange

🤞🤞🤞 you can be a huge success

A lot of work to be done, in rebuilding our team/squad and confidence.

Can I ask a stupid question.

Working in an elite athlete is environment, why does Ange need a 10 day isolation period ???

  11. Paul The Spark on

Hopefully Ange is successful and gets us playing a good style of football and properly coached. My main concern reading about him is I think he may struggle to take the players with him. I could see a Kris Commons / Ronny Delia situation with established players trying to undermine him as they don’t like change.

  12. rpmcelticfan on

Paul The Spark, . I think its clear hes a my way or the highway type , Ronnie didn’t have the balls for that (Too nice maybe ) Ange is mean mean big ugly take no prisoners’ aussie bar steward (hopefully ) ;)

TBF 👍 well put. As mentioned earlier by Martin I beleive, we should do a sweepstakes on the usual suspects coming on with all the negatives and clickbait headlines. In fact a few are already here. We all know it’s going to be tough, but it will be a hell of a lot tougher without a supportive fan base. ☘ HH

I hope your right and he gets full backing from the board. Hopefully we bring in players quicker than we brought in a manager. I hope Dom speeds things up on that front. We seem to take an age to sign anyone even after they agree to come.

Such isn’t a position consistent with your numerous previous posts.

My view is Tom Allison has been a dead man walking the halls of Celtic Park since he was quoted as feeling honoured and humbled by the queen awarding him his British Empire Medal in January.

I’ve voted against his re-election on every occasion it crops up but I believe this year, retirement beckons. Fingers crossed.

Paul The Spark , Yip we all hope for the best , I think it takes till the last minute to make signing’s because we are not usually a players first choice because of the market we shop in and the lucrative league next door , im hoping that Ange like most managers who come ,has players in mind to bring to the club that wont have better options or are known to epl scouts ,so Wim , Henke , Dr Jo Lubo , Brendan Sinky etc mibbie a bit fantasy like but again HOPE :)

Taking Mr Sutton’s analogy to its logical conclusion, against aforementioned Aussie blower you’d either be clean bowled for a duck or stretchered off for a duck … so in other words we’ll be crap ….. sensationalist nonsense from an ex-player …. Honest and realistic .. I think you know nothing about football … but fairly adept at the sly dig

Bit clumsy that so I will try again , First choice Great Club Great League and Great Money , Second choice Great League and Great Money , Third choice Great Club Great money , Fourth choice Great Club , imo we are pot four and a pathway to pot two :(

Never understood the hype for loser Howe.

We have recruited a winner, and vastly superior coach in Ange Postecoglou.

I will enjoy the Age of Ange.

Get where you are coming from re: Chris McLaughlin.

I detest BBC Sport Scotland …

.. but there are decent individuals working there including (IMHO) Chris M, Rhona McLeod, John Beattie, Richard Gordon, Michael Stewart and the genuine legend that is Willie Miller.

Equally though there are numerous odious individuals, editorially it is out of control and – if the rumours are true – the whole place is at the mercy of an orange cabal operating within.

Every time I see someone demanding a DoF for Celtic, I assume they are talking about a Defender of the Faith. It’s a reasonable enough demand but a tad sectarian.

There was someone else on here today endorsing SENILECELTS. No need to advertise. I joined 10 years ago.
