The precious commodity

391

I’m pretty sure Players’ Player of the Year rules oblige nominees to come from more than one club, allowing players the opportunity to vote for at least one opponent, instead of a team-mate. That being the case, we will probably see a token Aberdeen player on the list alongside the Celtic nominees.

This award, voted by the professionals, has been dominated by Celtic players for a lot longer than the league title itself. Di Canio, McNamara, Larsson (twice), Viduka, Sutton, Hartson, Maloney, Namakura, McGeady, Brown, Izaguirre, Mulgrew, Commons, Johansen and Griffiths make an incredible 16 Celtic winners in the last 20 years.

The current holder missed the chance of defending his title after an early season injury kept him out of the team, then the irrepressible form of Moussa Dembele made Leigh’s chances of a sustained run unlikely.

Moussa, alongside Kieran Tierney, are likely to be nominated for both Player and Young Player of the Year. Stuart Armstrong’s late season form may see him nominated, while Tom Rogic’s early season form deserves a shout, but all electorates have notoriously short memories, so Stuart stands a better chance than Tom.

Scott Sinclair has been the transformational element in Scottish football this season. His speed of thought and control are exceptional. He was the player who Celtic battered defences into submission early in the season as Celtic picked up from some nervy European qualification performances, and transformed into a well-oiled machine.

Scott’s performances in his debut season in Scottish football reminds me of a former PotY winner’s debut season. Both arrived as support forwards in their mid 20s. They share the same speed of thought. This instant the ball arrives(d) in their vicinity, the next phase is already underway.

I remember commenting during the season that stopped the 10 that Henrik Larsson was “precious” to Celtic. It was clear he was having a huge impact on the team, but Jackie McNamara and Craig Burley outshone him for many as they picked up the Players’ and Writers’ trophies respectively that season. Henrik’s true talent was still unfolding.

Scott Sinclair’s impact this season has been no less precious. For me he is the stand out Player of the Year.  Oh, and the nomination from Aberdeen, I suppose it has to be Ryan Christie, who steadied a stuttering Dons team and helped secure what will surely be second place.

My impression was that Thistle showed more enterprise than most teams who visit Celtic park and only poor finishing and good goalkeeping prevented them from scoring.

I am not sure that we have any scapegoats at the moment. Nir Bitton and Dedryk Boyata were the two most likely to receive OTT criticism but that has almost disappeared int the case of Dedryk and certainly diminished re Nir. For James Forrest, it has changed to applause !

part of it is to attend a ” Shrink”….I’ve tried to tell the guy it’s okay as “I’ve been aff ma heid for some time now”….but he’s no for listening. I was only trying to save him the bother of an assessment ?

Another BIG day on the 18th of this month, when I come up against the Scottish Legal Aid Board ( SLAB), at a PROOF Hearing. Again like last months PRELIM HEARING, I am forced to represent myself, as I have been unable to find any so called solicitor to represent me, as they are ALL too scared to go up against feckin SLAB !

SLAB stand accused of wrongly denying me my legal and/or human rights to legal aid funding in the run up ( and including my Employment Tribunal back in 2010). SLAB ONLY admitted making mistakes OVER THREE YEARS AFTER they had the opportunity to own up…they failed to do that at that time ( 2010) ?

That lack of funding is what caused my so called solicitor ( CROOK), to act the way he did at my Tribunal, when despite winning my case in the first 10 minutes, he fecked it all up cos he alone knew that he wasn’t get paid by SLAB…………….He also neglected to advise me of this lack of funding for 8 months !

He later claimed to the Law Society during their fecked up, corrupt investigation into his conduct, that his “non disclosure” of this MOST VITAL INFORMATION, was somehow” ACCIDENTAL” ? and not deliberate on his part ?

The feckin Law Society accepted his claim stating ” The solicitor had NOT acted recklessly/ deliberately, by not advising his client of the problems with SLAB Funding” !

Now I ask you….If I chose NOT to tell someone certain information about anything for 8 months, then that is clearly a DELIBERATE DECISION on my part, is it not ?

The Law Society of Scotland view it differently, just so they can allow one of their own off “Scott Free”. The serious contradiction by the Law Society in relation to that one issue is this….they questioned the solicitor’s “INTEGRITY” for not advising me of any problem with funding, and issued a “Censure/Warning” to him……….surely when you do that it should mean that the solicitor acted deliberatelY ? No ?….feckin unbelieveable !

Anyways, for this upcoming case on the 18th April, SLAB are using the Tragedy of the Maryhill ( Stockline Plastics) Company that blew up on Tuesday 11th May 2004, with the loss of several lives, as a means to argue that I am somehow “Time Barred” from raising this Court Action against them……………….I have other ideas, as clearly “The Statute of Limitations” does NOT apply in my case ?…hopefully The Sheriff will agree with me ?

Apart from all the above…everything is great on the SS Big Jimmy ship !

    Hail,Hail.

  23. Is this the most bizarre excuse for a defeat ever? They moved the goal posts Ian Cathro

Losing 5-0 at home is bad enough for any manager but attempting to stat it off is best avoided.

Take your medicine, lie low and move on quickly.

To go public with the claim ‘Take away the goalposts and we are able to compete’ must be causing terror in the Tynecastle boardroom.

It’s not just on the park that Ian Cathro is a rookie, trying to explain and salvage something from a 5-0 defeat that could easily have been seven or eight is madness.

When a manager plays the ‘small margins’ card I cringe. Almost every match is won or lost by small margins, they pick up big salaries to make small margins go in their favour.

Over 90 minutes at home you’d expect to have some periods of possession, create chance and force saves out of the opposition keeper.

Life away from the whiteboard and power-point is proving difficult for Cathro, unless he develops some realism without ditching his theories he could well be binned in the summer as realism invades the boardroom. Rather than fine margins, cutting your losses will be the message.

“We lost 5-0, but there are different parts to games,” he explained to The Sun.

“There are points when the game is alive and points where the game is no longer alive.

“In the first half we went with an attitude of ‘No, we are going to play and win the game’.

“So we went toe to toe and played against them.

“Nobody in the land can tell me we were inferior in the first 45 minutes. I’m not having it.

“Let’s be clear — I’m not passing comment on a 5-0 defeat as a whole and saying we competed.

“I know they scored five against us but if we assess what happened in the period when the game was there and alive, I can’t allow anyone to say we were inferior.

“There were situations where we could have gone ahead.

“If a couple of things were slightly different then it is 2-0 to us at half-time. Take away the goalposts and we are able to compete.

“We are able to go toe-to-toe and put in a performance which made the game a game.

“It wasn’t one team waiting on Celtic to score.

“Everybody who was there recognised that we were more than capable of playing against them and playing our part in the game — to such an extent that we probably had slightly more chances in the first half.”

Cathro takes Hearts to St Johnstone knowing that a defeat will leave them five points behind the Perth side and closer to sixth place than fourth.

If that happens Cathro will have more to worry about than removing the goalposts.

Surely I am NOT the only celtic supporter who remembers this ?

Under MON we were playing The Sheep in their pen, and HENRI Camara was a sub.

It was a close game methinks possibly 1-1 at the time, when MON decided to bring on the bold Henri.

After taking an eternity to get the tracksuit off ( Why ?), Henri made his way to the touchline alongside MON, who was his usual animated self, attempting to get the ref’s attention to the substitution.

MON got the refs attention finally……………Henri then proceeded to take off his BLING 9 which was also taking another eternity)….and then HANDED all the BLING to MON before running on to the pitch.

MON’s face was one of utter disgust…and without even looking he handed said bling to one of the other members of staff.

if I remember correctly, Henri Camara never kicked another ball for Celtic after that ?
