Motherwell, a team who have won plaudits for playing out from the back this season, based that strategy on Celtic loanee Stephen Welsh (25) in central defence. Who saw that coming? The player spent the second half of last season on loan at Mechelen, where he was a first-team regular. He also played more football in that 5 month period than during any season at Celtic.
This term, Brendan Rodgers preferred to develop Dane Murray (22) but Martin O’Neill has now recalled Stephen, to help compensate for the Cameron Carter-Vickers shaped hole in the squad. The move will shore up resources for the champions’ title push and be a loss to the Lanarkshire club.
Neither Rodgers, O’Neill nor Wilfried Nancy rated Manchester City loanee Jahmai Simpson-Pusey. Simpson-Pusey joined Koln last week and got his first 90 minutes in the Bundesliga on Saturday – that’s more time than he played for Celtic. It’s not often three managers decide against a player and get it wrong. Welsh is never going to reach Carter-Vickers-level performances, but he should return a better player than he left. This is the proper purpose of loaning players, not simply to get them out of the building.

🇺🇸 1. Visa Waiver / ESTA (Most European / Irish Citizens)
If you’re from a country that participates in the U.S. Visa Waiver Program (VWP) — including Ireland, the UK, EU countries, and others — you do NOT need a traditional visa to enter the United States for tourism (e.g., attending World Cup matches). Instead you must:
✅ Apply for an ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) before you travel.
This authorizes tourism/business travel up to 90 days.
You must apply online before boarding a flight/arrival.
Important notes on ESTA:
It’s not a visa but a required travel authorization.
Admissibility is still determined on arrival by U.S. Customs & Border Protection.
Proposed changes may require additional personal information (e.g., social media details), so check ESTA requirements before applying.

Hearing rumours of Mikey Johnston and Lyndon Dykes on loan.

Ian Bankier – 2022 AGM.
Anyone have any ideas what has changed since 2022?
Ali Dassler earlier re JSP – good point.
I think it’s reasonable to assume Brendan’s casting of eye over Jahmai was the most informed of the three managers.
And he decided not to play him. Fair enough.
I’m guessing Man City simply thought something like “Screw this. Get him out of there” and moved quickly to line up the loan to Köln.

Can I point you to 7 of his 8 games as interim manager instead ?
Saint Stivs @ 12:40pm.
Rugby Park capacity is 15,000
The population of Auchinleck is 4,000
Celtic get 7,361 tickets. (~49%)
Genuine question.
Is there some Scottish Cup rule that prevents the away club being formally allocated more than 50% of the tickets?

Cant see Johnston….he is playing really well for WBA
Lyndon Dykes tattoo’s are nearly as bad as his goals ratio.
Mon says Jota unlikely to play this season
13 days in and nothing
Only players mentioned have been either absolute dross or part of the IDF war machine with a hookey ankle !!!!
Huns 7.3 million just like that ….no mention on here of how then can do it on top of what they spent in the summer ……but loads jumping in to make excuses why we can’t though we earned FIFTY MILLION MORE
I though my anger couldn’t get any worse than September…..these clowns could definitely make me eclipse even that !!!!
Nothing about going into some really tough games with no strikers.
But, it’s OK, Stephen Welsh is back.
Unbelievable!

_____
I was already counting him out. CCV also. Getting Johnston and Sarrachi back would be excellent. So would Iheanacho but he’s unlikely to jump ahead of our two new strikers 🤔. Unbelievable is a often quoted description of our activity on the transfer front. Searching for new words now.
This window shaping up as another catastrophe under the unerringly inept stewardship of the mute Aloysian rugger bugger. Can’t get a single thing right that guy. A total and unadulterated dud of the first degree.

Today’s Hoople throws up a former striker whom we could probably get and add to our list of returnees. Might be better than first time round which probably wouldn’t be too hard.

I hope it’s not true. Mikey was given terrible abuse by a section of our fans. Why would he expose himself to it over again.
I’m delighted to hear that he’s doing well at West Brom.

I’m old fashioned and a dinosaur. I’m averse to tattoos and Lyndon’s tattoos in particular almost make my eyes bleed.
Martin’s presser-
We are actively looking for players to come in and make a difference until the end of the season.
More loanees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Perhaps we can ask Wayne Biggins to come back out of retirement, he’s only the same age as me🙃
Re loanees . …. I can live with that . If they are (preferably) loans with option to buy ,we will have a new manager in who will know if they are good enough and suited to his system . The players will have a few months of pressured, testing games where there will be no hiding place for those who don’t measure up .
There will still be plenty of gaps to be plugged in the summer window ,no doubt . Especially as those loanees with no buy option (e.g. Araujo)will be offski.
I’m sure MN , or preferably his successor , will be all over it .

The way Celtic operate the the football department, what gives you that optimism?

I am as concerned as anyone that we get a few good players in this window. Ideally we will also positively hold onto a few others who clearly will go soon but can do a job and have been over the course and distance.
I am also amazed that folk are surprised we are not racing through deals right now.
Our manager and his replacement and much of the staff of both and our head of recruitment and the chairman (the guy who really did much of our transfer deals for a fair bit of the past 20 years), have all left the club in the past 10 weeks or so.
Many have left at the behest of a salivating and baying fan base who wanted them gone. One left as he appears to have been abusing his position and telling porkies.
Whatever we now have a guy who was company secretary and a finance guy who we know won’t deviate from whatever Dermot wants or says. However neither have much in the way of real experience. They also have wider and broader job roles in running the club.
It is no surprise we are where we are but these guys are all we have and all they hear is sack them from the fans.
I would love to know, if they are sacked, who those online protesters think are going to actually do any of the signing and negotiation and recruitment detail needed ?
Not expecting an answer anytime soon. Just more whinging about how bad we are at everything.
Remember many of you got what you wanted. PL has left and for most of you that has been 12 years in the making. Hopefully you are enjoying it. You can pat yourself on the back for that.
PL didnt have a role in the day to day we were told, signings lining them up moving folk on is a 365 day endevour at serious football clubs. Except at Celtic it would seem.
