Motherwell, a team who have won plaudits for playing out from the back this season, based that strategy on Celtic loanee Stephen Welsh (25) in central defence. Who saw that coming? The player spent the second half of last season on loan at Mechelen, where he was a first-team regular. He also played more football in that 5 month period than during any season at Celtic.
This term, Brendan Rodgers preferred to develop Dane Murray (22) but Martin O’Neill has now recalled Stephen, to help compensate for the Cameron Carter-Vickers shaped hole in the squad. The move will shore up resources for the champions’ title push and be a loss to the Lanarkshire club.
Neither Rodgers, O’Neill nor Wilfried Nancy rated Manchester City loanee Jahmai Simpson-Pusey. Simpson-Pusey joined Koln last week and got his first 90 minutes in the Bundesliga on Saturday – that’s more time than he played for Celtic. It’s not often three managers decide against a player and get it wrong. Welsh is never going to reach Carter-Vickers-level performances, but he should return a better player than he left. This is the proper purpose of loaning players, not simply to get them out of the building.

Do you know why it’s Cesar and not Caesar ?
-,I’m sure you do.
The comedians are having their say now….
Celtic would be in a much better place if the Lawwell parasites were never near the club.
Why don’t we get professionals in to run the Club?
That’s heresy, everything was going great until you lot bullied Peter out of the club.
Remember many of you got what you wanted. PL has left and for most of you that has been 12 years in the making. Hopefully you are enjoying it. You can pat yourself on the back for that.
=======================
You also got what you wanted and a trophy winning manager left and was replaced by WN. Keep patting your ownback. :)

I did read about it a long time ago, but I’ve forgotten.
Was always aware there were 2 ways to spell it but thought it was just down to the individual.

Some of the posts are so out there at this time that it’s becoming more difficult to spot the pish takes from the unwell.
Kev isn’t even the worst any longer. Now that’s a milestone.

Rafael scheidt with more and more Scheidt .
Why can’t Celtic sign players when we need them? This is not a new issue, what is the structure of the scouting analytics and football department, is there such a structure? Is it an afterthought rather than a vital part of a successful club? We are hopeless at it and spend fortunes on dud signings, a case in fact Balikwisha 2 years looking at him who saw what to spend 5m on him plus 5yrs wages?
Structure? Plan?
Down with this sort of thing…..
Dessybhoy, according to B78 Peter Lawwell is due the credit for that one.
Burnley 78, are you arguing that the previous manager and the Head of Football, who has been involved in recruitment, should have been retained until the end of the transfer period? Otherwise it is not clear what your point is.
It might also be noted that the retiring Chairman was not apparently involved in transfer deals. He went to great lengths to make that crystal clear.
Celtic FC should be using properly qualified professionals to ensure that this crucial period for transfer business is successfully concluded.

Apparently the players nicknamed him after Cesar Romero actor star ⭐
HH
However, O’Neill was not prepared to blame the fact players might have been initially targeted for the Frenchman’s specific system for the lack of signings.
“I know you are thinking we are halfway through January, but the January transfer window is always pretty difficult,” he said.
“I’d love to blame other people, no, but it’s down to me. We are genuinely working really hard in the background, so there’s no impediment in that sense.”
Astounded of forehead to read that.
Back to Basics – Glass Half Full on 13th January 2026 2:14 pm
Saint Stivs @ 12:40pm.
Rugby Park capacity is 15,000
The population of Auchinleck is 4,000
Celtic get 7,361 tickets. (~49%)
Genuine question.
Is there some Scottish Cup rule that prevents the away club being formally allocated more than 50% of the tickets?
—————————–
Couple of things – when it was announced for Rugby Park I thought to myself , this si the chance for Celtic part-timers to go to an away game because with sensible pricing then surely Talbot would be able to allocate circa 12,000 tickets to Celtic and make a bundle.
I say this because we take 8000 or so to Livi, and 40,000 to Hampden, and at £20 a ticket and £10 for Kids, well it becomes an affordable day out.
But then, half five on a sunday, live on tv, the mood of the support, well it is a bit of a conundrim to me.
Even so, well done to Talbot £10 for a kid to watch, meanwhile if your bhoy happens to be 15 he is paying adult prices of £42 for the Utrecht game.
Greedy greedy greedy plc, they learn nothing.
Dynamic pricing Mikey, whats that ? shrug
Probably the most factual sentence about Peter Lawell that i have seen written on this blog.
“One left as he appears to have been abusing his position and telling porkies. “
I am now rapidly coming to the conclusion that it’s going to take a few years of Sevco domination before a change of regime takes place at our once great club. So be it if thats what it takes. Get Desmond and his minions to hell…… We are a laughing stock and will continue to be so until they are gone.
Billy McNeill and Cesar Romero.
I must be honest ..
I never saw the facial resemblance at all.
Their conservatism certainly caused this , we aren’t even the best here now.
MON risking his legacy shielding these pricks as well…….
Paralysed due to a lack of long term vision or any coherent, strategic plan. All the associated risks now crystallising in 2025/26. Screw Desmond and his lapdogs who have done his bidding for 20+ years.
All while taking their lavish salaries that have made them multi-millionaires and generational wealth all paid for off the back of Celtic supporters. And all to stand still. What’s seriously different to Celtic in 2026 v’s 2006?
Nothing!
