It’s not often three managers decide against a player and get it wrong. Welsh is never going to reach Carter-Vickers-level performances, but he should return a better player than he left. This is the proper purpose of loaning players, not simply to get them out of the building.

It is not the job of the Celtic support to identify individuals to carry out the work of negotiating and concluding transfer deals. A properly run business would have succession planning in place to appoint people to these positions. The fact that we have no one at the club with enough experience to carry out these tasks is another indictment of of our absentee, golf playing largest shareholder.
