The rascal Neil Lennon

771

What a rascal that Neil Lennon is, laughing off interest in Amido Balde while leading us all down the Kevin Doyle road last week, then Amido pitches up at Celtic Park, complete with obligatory Celtic scarf, before heading for some scans and time plugged -up with on the running machine today.

Amido’s road to Celtic Park has not been straight.  He was released by Sporting Lisbon last year without kicking a ball for them, but he has spent a year in a competitive league playing against some Champions League defences, so Celtic will have a fair idea of what kind of player he is.

Does he have the technique?  Does he have the physique?  Does he have the temperament?   John Park and the scouts will have given Neil Lennon lots of information on these elements of Amido, so there should be no surprises.

This is even more true of Balde than of last season’s twin striking signings, Lassad and Miku (trivia question of the future, Who led the line for Celtic when they beat Barcelona in 2012?).  Both arrived in the final days of the window, with options expiring all around and beggars choosing.

As always, the most important hope for any transfer window is that the manager and scouts get their first choices.  That assured, we’ll do alright.

11 June and first piece of transfer speculation. Held the tide as long as I could.

We have a special Father’s Day offer for the Willie Wallace book.  Order between now and Thursday morning and we’ll include a Father’s Day card, complete with your own message. See the big graphic to the right..

  1. Starry ,I see the Swiss are changing immigration rules.

    You getting the boot? :O)

  2. There’s something quite surreal when the resident nut congratulates a poster for moaning about posters who are moaning.

No offence Bazza but there is certain irony there mate.

Celts must have had a vote, they’re getting the blame for all ills.

You going to Hampden next week?

Not that I know of Mate, their Gov’t and right wingers have been playing the immigration card for a while like they always do when it rains in June, that being said the population here has increased almost by 2 million since I arrived in 99, my Mrs still gets a load of hassle her not being white and from the immediate ring of immigration…

No apology required, I think you were making the same point as I was making re: the Bangura signing gossip. I will add markup or be more liberal with sarcastic smilies :] in future posts – its not an easy think to read in print if you don’t know the poster!

By the way if your name is influenced by a certain X-Files character if you catch any of the Hannibal series I think you may find that she has aged like a fine wine.

I’m happy Ogilvie has been reelected because he’s not able now to sneak away into some UEFA/FIFA post like Farry and Dallas but will at some point either face the music or continue to dig himself deeper….either way his name’s ruined and when he eventually goes he’ll take the house of cards with him.

Pleased to see new rules re sectarian actions wasn’t passed….there are laws in place designed to even things up against our clubs fans….this would have been targeted at us too….no action against the old or new Rangers has been taken yet….

  8. Dead and Loving it on

I can remember many years ago my father and my grandfather talking about the game in scotland being anti Celtic, it was to do with wee Jinky not getting picked for Scotland.

Not a lot has changed since then, still the same corruption, maybe even worse now.

What I will say is this, I never heard my father or grandfather say because of this they would desert Celtic, if anything it made them even more determined to support the Celtic.

We should do everything we can to highlight the corruption , email, write, get it on social networks, but to give up on Celtic, definitely NO

What would we have to support today if our grandfathers and fathers gave up following Celtic.

  9. COs presidential role is only ceremonial, every one knows who scottish football. ;-)

  10. On the Ogilvie vote – did I read somewhere that there were to be 80 votes cast?

Is this right? Does anyone know who cast the other 41 votes, assuming that 39 of them are one for each full associate member of the SFA currently playing in either the SPL or SFL?

I really wish organisations like the SFA who reportedly get large amounts of our money in funding via the scottish executive had to comply with FOI requests – the internet bampots would have a field day!

    Campbell Ogilvie re-elected.

    So what ?

We would not know what to do next without the Campbell Ogilvies & all the other double surnamed cheats trying to keep us down.

These cheats are what has made our club so strong.

Without them we would have long since lost our drive & energy.

THEY have driven us to be a European force in football.
