KASPER SCHMEICHEL is poised to join in Celtic’s preparations for the new season.
The legendary 38-year-old keeper has not been seen since his howler gifted Aberdeen a late equaliser on their way to winning the Scottish Cup in the penalty-kick shoot-out at Hampden on May 24.
Ross Doohan, who returned to the Hoops on a free transfer last month, Viljami Sinisalo, who played a handful of games last season with Schmeichel injured, and rookie Josh Clarke have shared the goalkeeping duties in the warm-up games against Queen’s Park, Cork City and Estrela da Amadora.

WE’RE BEHIND YOU…Kasper Schmeichel has the backing of the Celtic fans during the Premier Sports League Cup Final shoot-out victory at Hampden in December.
The Danish international captain remained on the sidelines at Benfica’s training HQ on Saturday as Brendan Rodgers’ side lost 3-2 against Portuguese opposition.
However, Schmeichel is likely to get his first taste of action when the Parkhead men take on Sporting Lisbon in Faro on Wednesday evening.
Rodgers, speaking to the Daily Record, said: “Kasper only sort of met up with us at the beginning of the week.
“So we’ll just get him moving again, he missed out at the weekend, but he will be available for the next game.”
Schmeichel is likely to play at least 45 minutes against the Lisbon club with Sinisalo also expected to make another appearance.
