The Ronny Deila Lecture – with subtitles

A video of a lecture given by Celtic manager Ronny Deila during his time in Norwegian football has emerged and gives a fascinating insight into the reasons why Celtic opted for the relatively unknown replacement for Neil Lennon last summer. As head coach at Strømsgodset, Ronny Deila won the Norwegian Cup in 2009 and the Norwegian League title in 2013. This year his Celtic side won the Scottish League Cup and are set to be crowned Champions in the next few weeks.

This video perhaps explains why Celtic Chief Executive Peter Lawwell was so keen to appoint Deila as manager, even though he had initially been earmarked for the assistant’s role.

Celtic supporters were in the early days of Deila’s tenure, split over the wisdom of such an appointment, with some shocking European performances being the main reason for their concern. However the new Celtic manager has put that behind him and is now a huge fans favorite. His Ronny Roar at the end of each match Celtic win creates superb bonding between the boss and the support.

The lecture has been translated into English with sub-titles added to the video by the You Tube poster Kong Kokkus who states:

“Translated in a hurry, as a gift to Celtic supporters that might be interested. There are probably some mistakes, as English is not my first language, but hopefully it is understandable.’

Many thanks to Kong Kokkus for taking the trouble to translate this for Celtic supporters to enjoy.
