The goals have flowed easily against weaker opposition this season; three or more have gone in against Partick, Livingston and Falkirk, but six goals in our other eight games is below trend. Worrying, though that is, there are positives.
Visits to Pittodrie, Ibrox, Belgrade and Almaty (!) were completed with the concession of only one goal. Indeed, in three of those games Celtic scarcely conceded a chance. Team structure, which has challenges going forward, is protecting the back line with impressive results.
This is curious, as only 11 games into the season, we are on our third right back and have switched between two at left back. I could also add that Cameron Carter-Vickers has looked below his usual high standard. Liam Scales has been an absolute standout so far this season. His speed and industry are unmatched in central defence in recent times, just being in the right place is often enough.
Kelechi Iheanacho’s fitness will continue to improve, the full backs will settle into partnerships with wingers and we can expect more goals going forward. Progress, however, will be built on the defence, with Liam Scales covering the field. This could be the Scales season.

Exactly like Kuhn and O’Riley. You buy guys at a certain stage in their career in the knowledge that as they move beyond their early twenties they will get better. O’Riley had already established himself as a first team regular when Brendan took over, with the right coaching in the right environment a year older, a year more experience and Brighton thought he was worth spending a decent amount on. Not because they were buying a first team player, but because his profile fitted what they wanted – a player who had proved he had a certain level of ability, at an age where development was still possible and a sale into a bigger club gor more money also possible
He hasn’t been sold yet but he’s an important player in a Marseille team who beat PSG in the league, thumped Ajax on Tuesday and we’re a baws hair away from getting a result in the bernebai
Brendan did do his job with Matt in developing him for the year he had him, although how much he actually coached him doesnt seem that clear if he isn’t on the grass day to day, but taking a 22 year old whos already a first team pick at Celtic and claiming his sale to another club with a development model as proof of genius is overdoing I think.
The real genius is in the plan, without it there would be no Matt O’Riley or Nic Kuhn in a Celtic shirt
Whether it’s a 21 year old Jacob Breum, or a 27 year old, Kasper Dolberg, if you can’t close out the deals in the first place, there’s no point even talking about player development.

Scales is a good defender and is indeed showing continual improvement.
His distribution still needs improvement. I have noticed other teams press our other defenders when bringing the ball out but leave Scales. As if they want him to have possession as they feel he is poor at passing. However, he is improving in this element and as the new players bed in, then he will improve further.
Watching UCL last night, the big teams from top 5 leagues scored a lot of goals hitting quickly on the break before defences have time to initiate the low block. Shots from outside the box as well as plenty in transition.
Not one of the teams played the Possession game like we do. Fast breaks are no longer in our locker. When Marseille attacked at speed, Celtic would be recycling the ball in there own half and back to the Goalie. Top teams vary their build up often playing long balls in behind and diagonals. Often Goalkeepers kicked long. Even long throws were in evidence.
I fear we have been left behind and are struggling to break the low block with our formation and tactics. Securing Possession does just that it doesn’t lead to goals with 10/11 players still behind the ball.4 nil-nil games so far. Brendan promised flexibility but little sign of it in our games where the slow side to side and backwards leaves us nowhere nearer a goal

Some good points there. KT for instance is capable of a long angled pass across the pitch should be encouraged to use it to our advantage. Can take a decent throw in as well. Colby Donovan took three consecutive throw ins against Red Star, all down the line (there’s a song in there BRRB will know it) and every one gaining ground. CCV and LS, not to mention Kasper can all hit a long ball, which, even absent Kyogo, can turn defenders or put them on the back foot, or in Harry Maguire’s case against Brentford confuse him.

Several seasons ago, I got a bad gach on my calf, from a busted ragged edged seat, after the huns had visited.

Celtic Fans Collective Steering Group Summary of Zoom Meeting – 29 September 2025
The Steering Group agreed that the immediate priority is to develop a coordinated, long-term campaign that builds support across the wider fanbase while maintaining pressure on the board. The period from formation through to the AGM was defined as Phase One, with an emphasis on implementing structures, setting weekly objectives, and maintaining a consistent message running through matchday activity and fan engagement.
The recent silences were recognised as imperfect but valuable, as they created space to organise properly, identify spokespeople, and improve communications. It was agreed that the Steering Group will set strategy, the Matchday team will propose actions to serve that strategy, and the communications and fan-media teams will carry the message by working with various outlets and social platforms to keep supporters informed.
The Group also agreed to appoint spokespeople from across different organisations to ensure fans hear a variety of voices. These representatives will engage with Celtic fan podcasts and, where appropriate, brief broadcasters covering live games so that context is clearly understood. Alongside this, a press list will be developed, with weekly updates issued under embargo as needed. Engagement will continue across X, Instagram, and BlueSky.
It was stressed that the mood and confidence of the wider support is central to the campaign. Actions at Kilmarnock and Partick Thistle were seen as positive, with strong participation, but the three-match silence package received mixed support. The Group acknowledged those concerns while noting that the decision was shaped by time constraints and the need to maintain pressure during three home fixtures in close succession. For the Dundee fixture, however, there was broad agreement to avoid disruptive actions for the time being and instead focus on inclusive visual displays. Looking further ahead, the match against Kilmarnock on 9th November – close to the club’s founding date and likely near the AGM – was identified as a potential day of action.
In terms of structure, a Comms subgroup has already been established and is progressing its work, while a Corporate subgroup has also held its first meeting. A Research subgroup has also been formed. A Fan Engagement subgroup will be set up to lead two-way dialogue with the signatories of the 10th September letter, and a Secretariat will be formed to manage administration, support the wider Collective, and help develop a democratic framework. Steps are also being taken to create a regional structure, with proposals for two Glasgow representatives, one for the East Coast, one for England/Wales, and one for Ireland. We are still inviting supporters who can lend their expertise to any of these working groups.
Funding was discussed in detail. The Group agreed that moving away from ad-hoc donations towards a sustainable model is essential. A suggested donation scheme will be put to the wider support at the next Grace’s meeting, with merchandise also discussed once group is firmly established.
The meeting closed with confirmation that the next full Steering Group session, including subgroup members, will take place on Monday 6th October. A wider meeting of the signatories to the 10th September letter will follow on Thursday 16 October. Both meetings will be held in person and via Zoom, with final details to be confirmed.

The Club is aware that there are issues which a number of recognised fan groups have raised collectively and wish to discuss with the Club. The Club would like to invite you to a meeting to discuss a way forward on Monday 6th October at 6pm at Celtic Park. Michael Nicholson and Chris McKay will attend along with other representatives from the Club.
We have sent this invitation to the recognised representative supporters’ groups; the Affiliation of Registered CSCs, the Association of Irish CSCs, Bhoys Celtic, Celtic Disabled Supporters Association, Celtic Supporters Association, CSCs from the North of Ireland, Celtic Trust, and the Green Brigade. This will allow the Club to engage with as broad a constituency of supporters as possible.
In order to allow a meaningful round table conversation we would ask that each group sends up to two representatives. We would be grateful if you would confirm your attendance and who will be attending on your behalf.
