The spreadsheet on file at every club

550

There is a spreadsheet on file at every club with the anticipated sale value of each player on it.  This value often has nothing to do with how important the player is to the club, or even how good he is, it is a hard assessment of what the market will pay.

Kristoffer Ajer, for example, could end up at a tier one club next season, but his price tag will be inhibited by only having 12 months left on his Celtic contract.  James Forrest is also a talent and has two years remaining on his current deal.  James, though, will turn 30 in July.  The time Spurs managers travel to Glasgow to watching his passed.

Younger players with plenty on their contracts are not assured money either.  Ismaila Soro (22) has three years left on his contract but the spreadsheet at Celtic is unlikely to have a figure as high as we paid for him last year; Ismaila just has not played enough football to merit a reflective increase in value.

Market health is also a factor.  There is seemingly endless supply of debt to those tier one clubs, but the game in most of Europe is on its knees.  What would we expect from a French club for the likes of Olivier Ntcham, after the collapse of their TV deal?

Which brings us Patryk Klimala.  I like Patryk, his willingness to show for the ball and bust a lung to get back and find space was a refreshing change of pace from much of what we watched this season.  Various coaches didn’t think he had what it takes for Celtic, so his chances were limited and an exit increasingly likely.

We paid £3.5m for him; I expected to collect around a third of that when he moved on, not the entire sum we got back from New York Red Bulls.  That’s nothing, to the £10m Bayer Leverkusen paid for Jeremie Frimpong in January, a player I wanted dropped and replaced.  The keeper of Celtic’s spreadsheet has enjoyed updating a column this week.

I wonder if New York or Bayer want a goalkeeper with Champions League and European international experience?

The Huns ” Defence” has been getting many Plaudits this season….WHERE were they when the St Johnstones Goalie ” Saint Zander”…had the freedom to jump and heid that Ball…about 4/5 yards out…and trhe Huns McGregor rooted to his Goal Line…cos he wasnt wearing his Lucky Orange Strip ?

    LOL

Are we gonny arrange a Beer meet up in a Beer Garden anytime this week…except Today ( Monday) as I must go for my 2nd Jab Tonight , so I am cautious NOT to be drinking today or Tonight….the ” timing” of this 2nd Jab….wasnt a ” Shot in the Arm…”….it ” Shot my Drinking plans DOWN for Today”…so I will wait til Tomorrow ( Tuesday) and try and find a Pubs Beer Garden…maybe The Merchant City ?…

Not as easy as it sounds, eh – winning all those games, cups and titles four years on the trot.

I feel a sense of perspective for all we’ve achieved over the past 4yrs, esp after their saintly detumescence.

Still, credit where credit’s due – 1 in a row.

Hope we are fresh and raring to go next Sunday.

Admittedly a full week’s recovery for Sevco but they toiled for 120 minutes and (albeit from highlights only) I thought Goldson and Barasic looked sluggish.

Taverner guy can’t possibly be fully fit either.

    Long season for the non-invincibles.

A chance to put down a marker for next season.

    Hail hail

    ……………

Me too. I hadnt watched that ” show” for ages.

the Host Jonathon Sutherland also WRONGLY stated that it was the Huns FIRST Domestic LOSS this season…ignoring how St Mirren had also Gubbed them in the League Cup…although I sus[ect he will claim that he meant to say that it was the First ” domestic Loss at Ipox this season” ?

I watched most of the earlier Cup tie on BBC between Aberdeen and Dundee Utd.

Including the ” Host” EBT Steven Thompson…there were FIVE so called Pundits covering the game….at LEAST FOUR of them were ex Hun Players…

    Thompson,

    Dodds,

The MAIN Commentator ( Ive now forgotten his name), but he is a Hun ?

and last. but not least Peter ” Diving Cheatin…Peter Lovenkrands”…

How much are these Huns taking from licence payers across the Country ?

BBC Hun TV…even when the Huns are not playing….its all so Blatant.

    HH.

  6. BBC..

The only NON Hun on BBC was Michael Stewart for the Aberdeen v Dundee Utd game.

Another Ex Hun player was also on BBC Sportscene ( although to be fair he played with both the Huns and St Johnstone…A Dud)…

His fashion sense and heavy black rimmed glasses made him look like a cross between Hiriam Holiday and Dale Feckin Winton !

    Whit a mess he was…

For any youngsters…Hiriam Holiday was an American so called ” Comedy” when I was a wee Bhoy back in the early 1960’s….IF I remember correctly ?

    LOL

As I’ve pointed out before Jimmy, BBC Scotland using tax payers money to pay peepul who screwed the tax man is a scandal.

Nothing is said about it, of course. Wha’s like us?

I was reading on here that it was going to penalties and decided to not know the outcome but then realised ‘fireworks’ would be the indicator, so I waited………..and waited………..still waiting.

  12. Go tell the Spartim on

There’s some crazy stats going around, unsubstantiated as far as I’m aware, the we, Celtic in case some hunposters get confused, that 87% of our goals against this season are scored within thirty seconds of a set piece, new world record of the wrong kind. As I say unsubstantiated but galling if true, another nail in the coaching teams ………

  13. Big Jimmy

Foster goes oot wi/is married to another bluenose Amy McDonald who’s had a few songs in the charts.looked like he was wearing her cast offs
