The stock of corporate knowledge

349

We are all looking forward to big changes in the football department.  Players, manager, coaches and scouts will arrive at Lennoxtown in the coming months with the specific aim of improving the performance of the football department.

Such change brings risks, but just to the culture of the club, which is up for renewal every week and saw plenty of change in the autumn, but to the stock of corporate knowledge.  One of the failings of John Barnes short-lived experience was his failure to understand the risks when visiting places like Tannadice.  Some travel north thinking it will be all too easy, remember Joey Barton, who was nutmegged at Ibrox during a defeat to Hamilton Accies.

If today’s story on John Kennedy being promoted to work with Eddie Howe is true, he will add a couple of decade’s experience of how Scottish football works to the new management team.  I also hear Eddie was impressed by John.  Of course, sticking it to them on Sunday will not do any harm.

WOW that was some hell of a number of wrong deductions based upon a 26 word sentence.

I agree that it was a gross misrepresentation of what you said. If JHB wants to use the childish ‘insult’ of describing the SNP as a cult, then why doesn’t he tell us what cult he follows and wants the like of me to follow? Simples

I’m generally not that interested in politics at large, nor am I interested in the minutiae of the uks political history though there are definitely issues/policies/prejudices that have to be addressed and owned up to.

What I find interesting is the petty point scoring that goes on, is that really a winnable strategy to change any posters opinions, to me it seems a futile exercise which is more about personal vanity than anything else.

I’m not as learned as some, politically, nor would I want to be, as I find that my vote never seems to result in those I voted for coming into power or even just local representation. People will vote on matters, even single ones, that matter most to them.

    The rest is just bluster

Describing the SNP, and their fellow travellers, as a cult isn’t a childish insult, it’s an accurate description, eg a normal political party allows dissent among its representatives. The cult doesn’t.

1.Uk support for its big pal and post war funder in the rebuild The good ol US of A

    – specifically shadowing US foreign policy by not dissenting it in anyway,at all levels, most notably in The US invasion of Vietnam, which shamefully also includes voting with the US against the vietnamese when they invaded Cambodia to stop PolPots genocide.

You follow the shsh.. that is US post war foreign policy the Brits are in there acting the handy dangleberry in support,be it men, supplies or time

“all prisoners would be treated as ordinary criminals.Prisoners were to be criminalized in an effort to delegitimize their struggle.Ulsterisation and criminalisation and the start of the blanket process.

Sorry for returning to politics but I’ve just noticed that you said “South Korea was worth saving”. So it was worth killing millions of people to “save” South Korea. From communism? So that it could have a military dictatorship. You sound like a right-wing US Republican, one of those who regrets that the US did not pursue a military victory in Vietnam at any cost..

Not sure what kind of role JK would fill, but if a new manager is bringing in a completely new management team, it would seem sensible to keep someone around who understands the way the club operates and the environment we play in. It would be foolish to think everything can be turned upside down and expect an immediate change in fortunes.

*absolutely and as I said earlier he was tipped for this role before the fraud effed off and nobody batted an eyelid as we were winning at the time.

Cast your mind back to Feb 26/19, Leicester unveil their new manager who has done a midnight flit taking all the backroom staff with him except for big John and Tradamus Lampada FP Stevie Woods who opted tae stay with the club.

Now I can’t speak for John other than he was the grandson of a Celtic legend, but Stevie comes fae a well known Dumbarton Republican family on his mother’s side, so he wisnae going anywhere.

Anyway the following day we’re off tae swinecastle in a league fixture where a banner was unfurled “You traded immortality for mediocrity: never a Celt, always a fraud”, Lenny is back in charge with big John as his assistant; we win 2-1 with an injury time Eddy goal.

3 days later and we’re back in the capital this time Easter Road, not a happy hunting ground for the fraud, for a SC quarter final, goals from wee Jamesie and Broonie see us intae the semis.

After the game Lenny admits that big John picked the sides and the tactics for both games.

Big John has been 22 years with the club signing on the same day as “Mick” McManus. After amazing performances at the Nou Camp and hades replacing big Bobo he was picked for the national side.

Unfortunately an assault by a Transylvanian thug saw John’s career curtailed for 3 years before ending completely. He was given a first team scouting position before taking over the under 19s with Tommy McIntyre, he has since moved up the football ladder at the club to his present position and has been a key member of the staff through our second and honest NIAR as well as the quadtreble.

He has always been lauded by his fellow players and peers and as Not The Bus posted and Turkeybhoy reiterated if the fraud, Damien Duff and WGS all wax lyrical about him then who are we tae cast aspersions on someone we don’t know just because of a season where the hun perfect storm occurred.

I find you very intolerant and you always resort to patronising comments about people being stupid etc. The strict definition of cult is something or someone that inspires popularity. We have had a few cult heroes over the years. The most recent was Henrik, possibly French Eddie. So who was your cult hero in the Hoops ever?

  10. Good evening CQN

Not been on for a bit.

From what I hear and it is just what I hear, Eddie Howe is in pole position to be announced next week as our new manager. Deals can collapse at the eleventh hour as we know. However, if Eddie wants the job it is his. Once the sevco game is out the way we will find out.

The story in the rags, JK for DoF or Technical Director, from what I hear, rubbish. I am not saying John won’t be kept on in some capacity but not in the aforementioned roles. Fergal Harkin is in pole position for DoF, has been for awhile. If there is also a Technical Director brought in as has been touted it will not be JK. Names like Hughes at Bournemouth or Neil McGuiness.

Don’t believe or be influenced by what you read in the rags or indeed draw inferences on articles put out by ‘CQN’.

JK if retained, will not be DoF.

Celtic will announce when they are ready and indeed when Eddie Howe decides if he is going to sign on the dotted line. The deal is not done, nothing is until it is announced. However, Howe is in pole position.

    Until we meet again…

  22. A couple of questions regarding the social media ‘black-out’ planned for this weekend. Hands up, I don’t have any social media accounts other than LinkedIn, so won’t be impacted by this, but interested to to hear from those who do.

Will this boycott have an impact on anyone on here? What do we think will change as a result of the stance taken? Other than retrospectively blocking those guilty of targeted abuse, what can the social media companies do?

I genuinely can’t see what pre-emptive action can be taken by Facebook etc to stop the abuse. Possibly an algorithm that recognises certain words/emojis and stops them being sent directly to other accounts? What do we think?

  23. Under Article 10 of the Human Rights Act 1998, “everyone has the right to freedom of expression” in the UK.

Would it apply in an Indy Scotland?

“South Korea. From communism? So that it could have a military dictatorship. You sound like a right-wing US Republican, one of those who regrets that the US did not pursue a military victory in Vietnam at any cost..”

    ———————————–

Too many on the left in the West, whose only experience of Communism, was of minority parties and admirable individuals like Willie Gallagher and Mick McGahey, had a rosy eyed view of what was going on in Russia, China and their satellite states (colonial much?). Even one of my heroes, the great Sean O’Casey, was an unreconstructed Stalinist to his deathbed, and the brutal put down of the Hungarian uprising did not dent his convictions. He worked on the principle of my enemy’s enemy- if the right were criticising the Soviets and implementing blockades, then they are the ones responsible for reducing the Soviet experiment to a land of famine, corruption, massacre and colonialism.

Those who had to live under the regimes did not have such a rosy view. Living under a Dictatorship of The People sounds fine so long as you don’t have to undergo it yourself. Then you find that The People are a self selected group of the most violent and paranoid who are the only ones entrusted to take decisions and you, as a humble member of The People for whom Decisions are Made, do not get a say and do not get to dissent. For that is counter revolutionary behaviour.

The whole theory was a circular system of self deception. Even inside practitioners, like Zinoviev, Bukharin and Rykov had to incriminate themselves as their last act in favour of the defence of the Revolution before they were shot. Others were rounded up and offered gulag in lieu of shooting provided they could provide enough names of innocents to let the State Police fulfill quotas for counter revolutionaries so that the Police themselves could escape punishment.

It was a horrible totalitarian and murderous system to live under and it does not matter how many flaws there are in Western Liberal Democracies (they can all be vastly improved) nobody with a free choice would stay one second as an inactive citizen of a Totalitarian State if they were able to choose alternatives.

Hating Totalitarian states, whether they are Communist, Fascist, or Religious, does not make you a Republican or a Tory; that is a childish jibe I am afraid. When any group says they have the secret of how to run your life- if only you give me complete power and responsibility- you should run away fast.

As we have an intriguing match this weekend, I am promising to forego politics from tomorrow onwards.

Maybe JK repaid that trust and worked hard to get where he is today. Somewhere we would give our eyeteeth to be.
