The story Celtic are telling transfer targets right now

204

Between making his international debut in 2017 and joining Celtic over four years later, Josip Juranovic started five games for Croatia.  In the 18 months since he became a became automatic first pick for his country and a standout at the World Cup.

The Daizen Maeda story is even more stark.  He started one game for Japan (in 2019) before becoming a Celtic player, getting to the World Cup and beating two of the tournament favourites.

This is the story Celtic are telling transfer targets right now: ‘Look at what we did for Jura and Daizen, come to Celtic and we will do the same for you’.

Brazil might feel like the big one, but the next one is always the big one.  Best wishes to Josip and Croatia tonight.

  1. I thought JJ did what he could in getting a touch on the ball, it was Sosa who should have cleared it.

  2. Argentina deserve their lead. Would be happy with 2-1 with jJ hitting a 30-yard screamer in the last minute to cap a wonderful tournament for him.

  3. You’re either an asset manager or you’re deluded. Josip is not going to go because Celtic are desperate to get rid of him. He will go because he wants to go. We tested the water with a new contract offer; he wasn’t buying. The club has already received a big club offer, Josip and his agent are aware of it and has not refused interest.

    Our choices are :-

    1) Sell him now when his value is at its highest

    2) Keep him and let his contract run down. Is Josip happy to forego his best chance of a move to a bigger club. If uninjured, he would be nearer 30 when we let him go and the offer could be off the table.

    3) Keep him against his will and piss him off and lose attractiveness to potential future signings.

    Total logic

but of course some would rather blame a bogey man with a biscuit tin

    Funny that.

  5. Of course the fact we have already recruited his replacement is not good business but just us trying to get rid of the guy.

  6. Slimy Ally giving advice on where JJ should be playing further forward and wider.

This from the man who is most famous for his naw in the hedge moment.

Or maybe losing to a Stirling side whose manager was at a wedding.

  7. Back to that game at Brechin I wasn’t aware of this fact. Or maybe just forgot.

Despite several leading players departing during the summer, and the manager Ally McCoist only being able to name four instead of five substitutes,

  8. Croatia (esp Modric) send everything down the left flank despite the fact the left side has produced zero over 70 mins. Odd.

  9. The club knew a while back that JJ was leaving, the first we knew was Ange telling us in a roundabout way, then we bring in a replacement, the deal will all but be done pending a medical and then a signature, all the rest, asset management et all is bullcrap.

    I think you are wrong

    Poor tackle from JJ

JJ coming home or one helluva comeback on the cards????

    I doubt it!

    JJ’s value just lost a zero 😂

  11. Argentina’s Alexis MacAllister has brothers called Kevin and Francis. Family left Dublin in 19th century.

  12. They have hardly used JJ at all, even when he has had loads of space to attack

down the right. Very strange and it has limited their chances.

I take it ‘Transfermkt’ is a subsidiary of the daily Record?
